    I'm so grateful for being able to grow up fishing the shuswap. The best reason to live in Salmon Arm is the 'shuswap.

    I wish i could clone kitty and use the clones to replace a lot of the whimpy girls that hide on the sofa under a blanket when the temp drops below 90f. She is good looking and she can fish and she isnt afraid to go out even if the weather is a little cold and rough:) and the video is good as usual showing off quite an unusual way of fishing for most people.Good stuff:)

      Yw, both of you. Even if i enjoy watching her i also enjoy watching you wether she is there or not because your videoes feel genuine and not like so many wannabe 'hollywoobproductions' with loud annoying music and guys sounding like they hit the big lottery for every fish no mather the size an 'slipping' the name of whatever bait they use every 8 sec. You let me see things as they are or as close to as possible instead of overdoing everything like if your life was depending on it.I really appreciate that...

    Interesting fishing technique.. fast, surface trolling, big flies, in fairly rough, open water.. for rainbows..
    you could do the same set-up in the ocean for tuna lol

    • @FishingwithRod

    Great video, this is my home lake, I feel lucky to have this experience at my fingertips. Everyone should co.e here at least once. And as a Last hint to what I've learned to run, green or black apex, clear belly ( not white, opaque ). You figure the rest;)

    Hey guys! Love all your vids. What rods and reels are you using on this trip? Those almost look like fly reels. I'm interested in getting a similar trolling set up. Thanks!!

    • @FishingwithRod
      @FishingwithRod  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Matty, thanks. The rods used in this video are Shimano Convergence CVSM90ML2B spinning rods. They have unfortunately been discontinued, but still listed on the website. You might be able to find them in a store still if they are being shelved at the back. These are excellent spinning rods IMO so it's too bad they are no longer being manufactured. Those reels are indeed fly reels. We just spooled them with mono to go on the spinning rods.

  • @JayAgassiz
    @JayAgassiz 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks tor the vid looks like fun, was the set up on full sink lines Rod?

    • @FishingwithRod
      @FishingwithRod  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The fly reels were spooled with mono actually, and we used 9' Shimano light spinning rods to go with them.

  • @bikedeefer
    @bikedeefer 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    What is that collapsible rod that Rodney H. pulls in after the fish hits at about 7:50? Something to space out the lines?

    • @FishingwithRod
      @FishingwithRod  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah it was just a extended pole with a Scotty clip at the end to space the two outer rods away from the boat.

  • @scottedwards33

    Looks like a fun trip. What's the advantage to using those single action reels vs a regular conventional trolling reel?

    • @FishingwithRod
      @FishingwithRod  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most anglers in BC tend to stick with single action reels especially for trolling not because it's easier or gives them an advantage, but it's more fun to play the fish that way. You can certainly use a spinning reel or levelwind for this type of fishing and there'd be nothing wrong with that. :)

    • @scottedwards33
      @scottedwards33 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. I've never been to BC but I noticed from TV fishing shows and your videos that the single actions seem to be very popular there.

      glen h I suggest you familiarize yourself with the regulations and stop assuming what goes on in the boat before commenting further.

      Good, stop. Since you cannot be bothered looking up the regs and before spouting off, here is a quick overview. Unless you're retaining steelhead, anglers can continue fishing and practicing catch and release if they wish to after retaining their daily quota. Again, I suggest that you familiarize yourself with the freshwater fishing regulations in this province before heading out.

    Rod... I gotta ask. How do you get girls into fishing?

    • @FishingwithRod
      @FishingwithRod  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well... You shower them with gifts and money of course... ;) Just kidding. Getting girls into fishing, or anyone actually, takes patience and understanding. Picking the correct fishery to start out with is important so the novice people you are taking out would not be overwhelmed, and can actually enjoy whatever they are doing. Making sure the essentials are available, food, warmth, washrooms, are pretty important and always on top of my list. Check out the Q&A video we did from January this year, it talks about this particular subject actually.
