I believe the clack valve is the same tech as a snifter valve? The latter is a spring loaded valve allowing the cylinders to “draw air” when the engine is coasting with its throttle closed. Otherwise the trapped air would create a vacuum, slowing the engine, and probably “draw” from the smoke box in the exhaust stage. “Smoking” isn’t good for steam engines either, I suppose… The clack valve could (!) be a spring loaded valve for water, in conjunction with an injector or piston pump. Letting water into the boiler under pressure, but not back out. Where’s Hyce or Laurie when I need them…?😅
Another brilliant video, you make me want to get into TS just to explore these little gems. And obviously I have a great fondness for the Caley and highland railways so this was right up my alley. Thank you for sharing, what an awesome engine and a brilliant review
Speaking of the Highland Railway, Caledonia Works also brought the Jones Goods 4-6-0 to TS, although I don't intend to review her anytime soon. As for getting into TS classic as a whole, I can easily recommend it as someone who's been playing it for over 10 years, but the game is certainly not without its issues (to say the least).
Another great upload, definitely going to purchase this one👌

Another Route I use and I recommend is the Hamilton Branch with it's branches to Castle Angus and the Five Oaks Brewery.
Where do you get that route from?
great vid as always!
