The best part of ghostface throughout the whole series was despite all the crazy horror movie stuff, he wasn't a supernatural undead mutant, an alien, a embodiment of pure evil, he was just a guy, a guy who was a little too into horror movies for the wrong reasons.
Except for Dead by Daylight with his supernatural tracking ability or maybe Mortal Kombat 1 which will probably give him cool abilities. CoD made him a soviet Zombie Slayer in Cold War. But he is awesome in CoD with his numerous sayings.

I can tell 1:36 was intended to be this super jumpscare where Sydney ran right into her death, but Ghostface didn't see the couch and tripped. He's the most relatable serial killer I've ever seen.

Yep, the orignal premise of scream was to mock/make fun of Horror franchises (as seen in scream 1), but after a while they did try regular slasher horror (well sorta)

Sadly, as the series went on, they added more comedy to it due to fears of Columbine and studio meddling, but it is true. It makes you wonder why the victims just don't pick something up and beat him to death when he falls during these chase scenes. The first movie wasn't too bad...one could also argue that the phone calls are to make his victims more scared so they don't fight back I guess, too.

Scream's humour is fantastic, but I've always found its frantic chase scenes to be genuinely scary as well. Sure, Ghostface might be tripping and crashing into stuff like an idiot but dude gets right up and keeps full on sprinting at you with a knife. Michael Myers is like the surreal fear of a nightmare where the killer is pursuing you slowly but you can't seem to get away, yet the panic and chaos of a Ghostface chase scene to me is somehow even scarier. Reminds me of a spooky Reddit thread a while back where someone asked, "what's scarier than waking up in the middle of the night and hearing soft footsteps slowly approaching your bedroom door?" And the top answer was, "waking up in the middle of the night and hearing pounding footsteps _running_ towards your bedroom door."

I think Stu’s brain started lagging when he was driving to be honest. But he and Billy are the most iconic killers duo. They went trough a lot of pain during attacks themselves.
This actually makes sense considering that the mask they're wearing doesn't have any eyeholes in it so they probably can't see clearly. Also considering that Scream 5's trailer shows a much darker tone, I wonder if we're going to get clumsy goofy ghostface again.

One of my favorite aspects of Ghostface is how human they are. Throughout each movie (especially the first) we see characters fight back and it makes Ghostface feel beatable. I think that’s what makes it all the more terrifying when the victim is ultimately killed and so satisfying when characters like Sidney prevail. It’s never a hopeless fight so it allows the viewer to root for the victim and momentarily forget that that’s not how it works in horror movies. It’s also really funny watching Ghostface get smacked around
I always loved how these scenes always made it obvious that Ghostface is just someone behind a mask. Not a supernatural entity built for nothing else but killing. He's a murderous human who is way too clumsy for his own good.

The point of the franchise is to be more realistic than other slashers of the time. You had Michael and Jason walking around as invincible killing machines, slow walking and still catching their victim, and freddy running around in peoples dreams. Ghost Face is supposed to just be a normal guy like the rest of us. capable of being clumsy and chaotic. its what makes the films so scary to begin with, the feeling of will the victim get away because they both tripped or not.
My favorite is when Sydney complains about "some big breasted girl running up the stairs instead of out the front door, its insulting" And then does the EXACT same thing lmfaoo
That's the point, the movie is trying to show how people are so confident and smart when they're watching the movies but when the time comes and it happens to you, you're way to stressed and scared to actually make smart decisions.
Ghostface is very different from other horror villains in that he's not some unstoppable, super powered monster. He's just a guy. But I think that was the point, because Scream is supposed to be a deconstruction of horror films.
This is why ghostface is one of my favorite slashers, he’s literally just a normal dude and the way he moves and falls over so many times reflects that. It makes it a lot more fun to watch him in action
People forget that Scream is sort of supposed to be a horror comedy on some level. It’s a series that says “we know the tropes, we’re not taking it super seriously.” That translates pretty well in how Ghostface is presented. They’re just a normal person in a costume, they’re not professional assassins or something. If they were the movie would be over real quick.

Scream is one of the rare instances where the mask existed before the movie did and remains unchanged to this day, I think the production team on Scream created the black sparkly robe to go with the mask though, that just means by technicality Scream and Ghost Face are seperate, Scream as a license includes the movie likeness (Talking/Voice, Use of phones in the costume, Sparkly black robe), and Ghost Face as a license (owned by Funworld) refers to the classic mask everyone knows.

Next, you have Jill and Charlie. Jill’s motive? Simple. Jealous of Sidney. Charlie? In for god knows what. Then, we have Amber and Richie. Amber was a crazed Ghostface fan and Richie…? I don’t know his motive. And finally, you have Quinn, Ethan and the detective. Quinn and Ethan’s motives where to get revenge on Sam. Sam killed their brother, Richie. The detective? Idk his motive yet. These Ghostface’s are not only iconic but you don’t know if it’s your best friend, lover, sibling or even a family member. You really don’t know. It teaches you that people can really backstab you. Be aware kids, this stuff happens all the time. And the most iconic thing about Ghostface is that they’re a real person. It shows you that hey don’t trust strangers and that keep an eye open. Ghostface trips and is clumsy, cuz he’s a person. They’re not Jason or Michael Myers

Scream's humour is fantastic, but I've always found its frantic chase scenes to be genuinely scary as well. Sure, Ghostface might be tripping and crashing into stuff like an idiot but dude gets right up and keeps full on sprinting at you with a knife. Michael Myers is like the surreal fear of a nightmare where the killer is pursuing you slowly but you can't seem to get away, yet the panic and chaos of a Ghostface chase scene to me is somehow even scarier.
Reminds me of a spooky Reddit thread a while back where someone asked, "what's scarier than waking up in the middle of the night and hearing soft footsteps slowly approaching your bedroom door?" And the top answer was, "waking up in the middle of the night and hearing pounding footsteps _running_ towards your bedroom door."

One of my favorite aspects of Ghostface is how human they are. Throughout each movie (especially the first) we see characters fight back and it makes Ghostface feel beatable. I think that’s what makes it all the more terrifying when the victim is ultimately killed and so satisfying when characters like Sidney prevail. It’s never a hopeless fight so it allows the viewer to root for the victim and momentarily forget that that’s not how it works in horror movies.
It’s also really funny watching Ghostface get smacked around
I always loved how these scenes always made it obvious that Ghostface is just someone behind a mask. Not a supernatural entity built for nothing else but killing. He's a murderous human who is way too clumsy for his own good.

The point of the franchise is to be more realistic than other slashers of the time. You had Michael and Jason walking around as invincible killing machines, slow walking and still catching their victim, and freddy running around in peoples dreams. Ghost Face is supposed to just be a normal guy like the rest of us. capable of being clumsy and chaotic. its what makes the films so scary to begin with, the feeling of will the victim get away because they both tripped or not.

This is why ghostface is one of my favorite slashers, he’s literally just a normal dude and the way he moves and falls over so many times reflects that. It makes it a lot more fun to watch him in action
People forget that Scream is sort of supposed to be a horror comedy on some level. It’s a series that says “we know the tropes, we’re not taking it super seriously.” That translates pretty well in how Ghostface is presented. They’re just a normal person in a costume, they’re not professional assassins or something. If they were the movie would be over real quick.

I’m referring to Dead by daylight, they have Ghost face but not “Scream”, in game by default he looks a little different than the movie version, you can purchase the og scream costume though separately and he doesn’t talk unlike in the movies and cod now.
Scream is one of the rare instances where the mask existed before the movie did and remains unchanged to this day, I think the production team on Scream created the black sparkly robe to go with the mask though, that just means by technicality Scream and Ghost Face are seperate, Scream as a license includes the movie likeness (Talking/Voice, Use of phones in the costume, Sparkly black robe), and Ghost Face as a license (owned by Funworld) refers to the classic mask everyone knows.
Those stairs still have me hurting to this day. I’ll stick to slide canceling from now on

Debbie had her motive as Sidney killed her son. Mickey was in it for the trial. Then we have Roman. He built Ghostface from the start. His motive? Easy. Kill Maureen and Sidney. Next, you have Jill and Charlie. Jill’s motive? Simple. Jealous of Sidney. Charlie? In for god knows what. Then, we have Amber and Richie. Amber was a crazed Ghostface fan and Richie…? I don’t know his motive. And finally, you have Quinn, Ethan and the detective. Quinn and Ethan’s motives where to get revenge on Sam. Sam killed their brother, Richie. The detective? Idk his motive yet. These Ghostface’s are not only iconic but you don’t know if it’s your best friend, lover, sibling or even a family member. You really don’t know. It teaches you that people can really backstab you. Be aware kids, this stuff happens all the time.
And the most iconic thing about Ghostface is that they’re a real person. It shows you that hey don’t trust strangers and that keep an eye open. Ghostface trips and is clumsy, cuz he’s a person. They’re not Jason or Michael Myers
