    it's a cabin in the woods, a frame style, why the harsh comments. I could see doing this on a 10'w x 12' or 14' deep with insulation and a wood stove for heat and water warming, shower at the YMCA.

    That would make a nice room for a bath/ storage area hooked up to a larger A-frame home that has,an actual kitchen and wood stove.

    It would be really nice to implement a traditional Japanese style living space into this with tatami and a fold-up shikibuton for bedding. A desk could be built into one side to create a fully functional house. The beds take up way too much area in this design, but the structure itself is cozy and very nicely done.

      @genkiferal7178 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      that's a pain in the butt to air out and store. I am using a 6" high-density foam mattress now for 6 months, and while I don't completely regret it, I still have to let it air out on its side for a few hours and roll up the bedding - after airing that out separately on two heavy duty hooks over the door.
      If I had my own place, a foam mattress with a murphy bed would be easier - still allowing it to air out, though, before putting it away. The cotton of Japanese futon mattresses is nontoxic and environmentally-friendly, but won't last nearly as long as foam. Foam can last decades and can be replaced separately or even laundered.

    because an A-frame's side(s) are so step, for solar panels and passive heating, would a saltbox with a sliding glass door and the rest with solar panels be the best way for energy?
    NEVER build on the ground if the structure is light-weight enough to avoid that. Moisture and bugs attack your house close to the ground. I've seen quite a few old tiny buildings built a century or more ago that are built 2.5 to 3' off the ground and have tin roofs. If they'd been built close to the ground or if they had shrubbery close to the walls outside, moisture and bugs would've destroyed the wood.

    This is an awesome addition to a property. Also, a great minimalist weekend getaway option. Most of my weekends are spent in a Tent, so this is a definite step up! The outhouse extension makes it practical/comfortable for longer stays. In response to the comment below stating that "this is not a house". It was not intended to be a "Home", the title clearly states it as a "getaway". If you are looking to buy a "Home" for $700.00 you are in a lot more of a bind, than requiring a kitchen or insulation. Great job THL on the design and kudos to Deek for making it happen @ a $700.00 price point. (The future is bright :)

Also, without that side roof opening, it's going to be a green house inside and get very warm. I like the design basics, but how it was executed could have been better.

      wrong! (again no doubt).... the "broad" as you put it , is my beloved Penny ,and SHE could care less about a TH-cam posting referring to any closet size, A-frame tool shed called a home (smar,t hard working, lovely woman and not a "ding bat" ...its ok to consider yourself; StandingCorrected, at this point) , I am her Ole'man; Sergio , and I have built homes and a whole gammit of other structures and/or thingz for people longer than the builder of this mess has been breathing air (in fact ,I have built and GAVE AWAY better built , better insulated and far more weather resistant dog houses) ...So being in the construction trade I enjoy seeing the various creations people post , outstanding off'da-grid projects. made from recycled matereal , DIY log cabins, shipping containers , converted buses ,campers ,old boats , planes ...and since our host mentioned "trolls" , have you seen some of the amazing builds inspired by The Lord of the Rings? ,whinsical Gnome Cottages ,, and lets not forget geodesic domes ,converted barns & pole buildings ....~What seperates a storage shed from a actual home(other than the comfort of a few dozen more sq.ft.) , is simple things like a bathroom (actual flush toylet or the trusty bucket/composting toylet set-up) ,,,how about a wee-bit more power than that itty bitty solar paine offers! (its a solar paine, not big enough to be a solar panel) ,,,some sort of area for storeing food & water thats bigger than a 12pack cooler would be nice if not outright mandatory in a home ...dont disrespect the hard work of people doing great things off-grid by calling a A-frame tool shed a tiny house ~SERGIO~

      Being in "the construction trade", you would comprehend the word, CABIN.

    Nice, it's basically a wooden tent. But being wood, I say make it at least twice as long then.

      Wouldn't it be cool if they all opened into each other with that wing wall! :) (Dreamin' here ... haha)

      @@supersolarpower4191 build the wing wall into a permanent wall and put a frame up half a meter so the roof is higher. 4 of them together in an octogon shape. One side of wing wall in the middle to combine into one room. Just scale up the plans for a bigger cabin

    It says getaway cabin not house. What part of 'getaway'as in 'weekend getaway' do some commentors not understand? Nice design and could even be adapted as a greenhouse. Orchids rock the Casbah!
