Freddie and his facility in going from one range to the next so fluidly is his trademark: high and low, up and down on the register is so wonderful to listen to. He can go from those powerful flurries and melodic scales to space notes and back into one range to another like it was easy, and it's not easy. It's just an illustration of his awesome technique and genius.

Saw this band at Ronnie Scott’s - the first time I’d seen Freddie ‘live’… of course, I was knocked out. Support was Mark Murphy - two musician giants! Thanks so much for posting.

I got to meet Freddie back in 1981' he came to Australia for gigs and hung around for a couple of weeks. We hung out I showed him around Sydney and drove him around. It was great fun, he had such a funny, cheeky, warm and sweet personality and a big and warm generous heart. He played great with a band that included Rufus Reid and Victor Lewis, two other wonderful people. A truly great moment and time to remember in my life. At the end of the time I knew I made a friend. He like the ferry rides on Sydney harbor, cold Australian beer and food at the famous Bill and Tony Italian Restaurant.
