Actually the show handle it wrong, but it's so funny >< Selamat pagi : good morning Selamat malam :good evening Well can't complain cause my love Mai-Chan says that ^^
R. I. P. Kyoto Animation staff who were engulfed in the fire incident. I've watched this show every day for the past 6 years and it never fails to make me smile or crack with laughter and joy. Thank you, Kyoto Animation, for Nichijou most of all. They will all be remembered whenever their beautiful shows are watched by people all over the world.
Nichijou is a comedy on the surface, but is also incredibly deep and nuanced with what it says about life. Not everyone who watches the show will notice that, though.
Ok... To prove what you mean, here's a quote from Nano from the manga, "Autumn truly begins with a sense of melancholy, after the scorching heat of summer fades away, leaving behind relief and the ever-changing temperatures sink lower. In these unstable times, the temperature of rice is the only thing we can rely on, giving us a refreshed feeling, as though a door has now opened through which we can somehow discover our new selves." Also, that was a reply to not wanting to eat plain rice...
It's about damn time you posted THIS! But I warn, this show’s a black hole... once you get sucked in, your thirst for another season will never be quenched…
Or just read the manga because it still has a whole lot of charm to it. The anime is beautiful and has impeccable voice acting but the manga is still solid.
Bartholomew Peter for me it's a scene where she drops her yaoi scribbling sand then brutally smacks down anyone in the area(a cop included) who may of seen them
Cherish huh... I started watching Nichijou back in the beginning of 2016 and now I'm at episode 21. Why you might ask, because I love this show and because of that I can't watch 2 episodes in a singular week, its like I need some down time to process all of the jokes and skits from the episode I just watched and cherish them, other then binge the whole thing and only really get to remember a few scenes from it because I would've taken in to much at once. So it'll probably still take a couple of months before I Finish the show, but with every episode left I'll look forward to seeing what it has to offer! (Also let's hope for a second season!)
i binged the whole thing the first time and cried for three weeks after that. then i started watching it with a friend and rewatching it on my own, then a third time. now i'm watching each episode slowly and analyzing each bit. honestly less than 10 things have gone old for me, and i'm starting to appreciate and laugh at them again. the show is hilarious, it pays some tremendous attention to detail, i love all the characters except one, and the story is the absolute cutest. Nichijou is the shit and i can't get enough of it.
In addition to that I would recommend Daily Lives of High School Boys (Danshi Koukousei no Nichojou) - Its humour is apparently more hit or miss to some - but it have a similar structure of starting a joke and not ending it when it should (yes, its execution is not as good as nichijou, but I still recommend it as it is as funny if not funnier than Nichijou)
Why are simple things exaggerated in the show? Because high school years are the highlights of their lives, and they know their lives go downhill from there. That's the best punchline that I got from the show. I'm cynical, I can't help it.
I've always assumed it's because you're watching it from the characters perspective, it seems over exaggerated because that's what it feels like to the person experiencing it. For everyone else though, it's just something ordinary, hence "Everyday life"
Brother your videos are amazing! This video in particular was so well narrated and edited, your choice of clips and the timings were spot on! Very nice :)
I just finished this anime today, and instead of feeling sad, I feel refreshed of daily life. Still quite bittersweet, but I can always revisit the series again. And I shall many times over. On my list of ultimate 10/10 anime.
I FREAKING LOVE NICHIJOU! It's my favorite anime!!! About your review I think another way to put it may be: Nichijou is an anime which exaggerates the everyday life to the extreme but at the same time... once you get into that world... once you understand it's wackiness and you accept it... you realize... that's life... that's how our lives may be from time to time and with that in mind your own life may become as interesting and fun. Isn't that beautiful?
Well spoken...I've loved this show for a long time for the exact reasons you noted in this video. I'm so happy that someone else feels the same way. Thank you.
Yes this is the anime I watch whenever i feel upset . Its not just a comedy anime its beyond it. Its relatable .I feel the scenes are kinda poetic in this anime
I normally only watch serious anime - the dark, psychological thrillers. Slice of life type stuff really doesn't interest me, especially if it has any sort of fan service or ecchi. This though. Nichijou is amazing. I love this show and always come back to it, especially if I need to wind down or laugh.
Human beings feel feels much greater than they can show on their faces. Nichijou paints those emotions. We know exactly what the characters are feeling even though we cannot show them. Nichijou is a masterpiece about the human condition.
YES! Had never seen your chanel until today. but you sir! You are so spot on with how I feel about anime! So hard to find people who apreciate anime this way. Thank you for existing! btw, yes Nichijou is the best
I never thought I'd see a review that not only strongly convinced me to purchase a show I'd been putting off for so long, but actually inspire me to tears about what it really means.
I gotta be honest, it's been like two years since I've watched one of these (uh... I think the SAO one was just released) and I gotta say he's gotten better. Nothing about his formula is different, but everything is higher quality and his gestures remind me much more of my sister, who since learning ASL constantly talks with her hands, almost literally. I can't wait to have the free hours to binge his stuff again. Nice work.
Thankfully it's on both streaming services now. But one thing that puts a smile on my face while watching this is... The music, it's like cuddling up under a warm blanket.
This show genuinely made me want to be a more positive person. I just finished it yesterday and it genuinely made me really sad that it was over. I immediately bought the box set of the manga online. So incredibly wholesome. Not to mention the funniest fucking show I think I've ever seen. Every episode made me laugh out loud, sometimes on multiple occasions. So good. 10/10 MASTAHPIECE
~Just a note to everyone who thought nichijou was boring (which baffles me so), however maybe it would ease your conscious and help you understand why others like it by saying, around 50% of the jokes in nichijou can only fully be understood by native japanese or people who understand the culture, even if you understand the language a little bit, it can still be hard to pick up on the jokes because some of them tend to be complex word play. That being said, the mere fact that it can entertain people non-native to japan at a pretty even ratio (as seen in the comments) impresses me as well as others who laugh at the jokes, come to learn there was actual context behind it, and laugh even more.
Nothing against that. (I don-t understand the language but non-localized humour is still my choice, better if explained). Each episode was just too long. No matter how funny each vignette was or if an episode had only great jokes, the duration induced this bored sentiment. As a newspaper comic strip, I would probably never stop to laugh reading it. (the Azumanga Daiô animation whose jokes vignettes were better connected hardly made me smile after @ few eps then I was laughingbout loud once I started again on paper)
Interesting point you rose there, the anime is certainly better if viewed in separate vignettes apart from the anime completely. If they had made one episode like 3 or 4 shorts even, perhaps it would have been more widely received. I remember giving nichijou a 7 or a 8 but then after going to youtube and watching clips separately, such as how someone would read a newspaper comic strip, the show quickly became one of my favorites. This makes much sense to me now, now I can understand why some felt it was boring. Thanks.
i guess its just a matter of tolerance to silliness, i was able to marathon the series and enjoy it immensely. though out of everyone I know i'm the exception in that regard as there are a lot of shows others I know can't handle more than an episode of without needing a break that i can marathon.
true, I think i can relate the indifference in tolerance when compared to others tastes, I binged watched my imouto umaru-chan and quite enjoyed it, I didn't take anything personally, and since the attitude switch occurs so fast and is completely unrealistic I liked it for what is was, a comedy. However, I couldn't image watching to week to week, I would forget the mood of the show and start to hate umaru for being whiny all the time.
When people compare Azumanga Daioh to Nichijou and say they are practically the same, I feel that it's not quite right. The source material of both is different. Azumanga Daioh is a 4-coma, while Nichijou has a weird setup with 3 to 9 or so panels per joke (usually 5-6). This makes the jokes flow completely differently and may not be to the taste of some. I think it's easy to see why some wold find it boring, because of how drawn out it is, unlike Azumanga daioh which delivers the jokes in a very specific 4-come style, relying on the Japanese fundamental story telling build that differs from the western world called Ki-Sho-Ten-Ketsu. Nichijou stretches more often than not one of the parts of the Ki-Sho-Ten-Ketsu and it just doesn't adhere to everybody. I like Azumanga Daioh and don't enjoy Nichijou for the reasons above, so comparing them is not quite right. They are fundamentally different :]
I agree with you but I still found Nichijou hilarious. I feel that Azumanga Daioh and Nichijou are different yet similar in many ways too. I love both but I like Azumanga Daioh a bit more just because I feel nostalgic when watching it.
The Five Steps was my favourite part boo. Never stop. Got it. Also, her scream went so far it even pierced Pluto AND KEPT GOING. Holy shit it never stopped.
I just could never get into Nichijou, don't know what it is. Tried to watch and couldn't sit through more than 1 episode and somehow got through 6 episodes over a month and dropped it. Nichibros, however, is the better show IMO.. absolute genius execution about simple life.
Francisco Juarez no thats not what a mean he's been getting outdated like falling bk while other anime youtbers which doesn't have half as gud as content as him are moving up
Junior Shaw i definitely agree that other anime youtubers with content that falls behind his have been getting more views and subs. Thanks for clarifying at least.
I got bored so often. Especially during the static shots. The jokes most of the time are the entertainment equivalent of dangling keys in front of a baby's face.
Maybe a shorter format would have make it more digestible. I watched a few episodes and found some jokes funny but one full episode at a time made them all seem so heavy I never laughed but rather checked the time slidebar. I'm sure imost of those vignettes would seem better as newspaper comic strips.
It's a shame, because when the show actually strikes upon a moment of brilliance it's soooo good. The shrine scene? Actually funny. The Santa trying to pass melon bread as a gift? Fucking gold. The Cardhouse skit that calls back to older animation? Really enjoyable. What's-her-name's ongoing saga to draw a hentai manga? Very much entertaining. Yuuko losing her wallet and that face she makes? I personally had to pause the video to laugh that one out. The Deer? Enough said. Hell even the "Don't Speak English" skit was somewhat cute the first time. And yet, I have to sit through at least 10 minutes of them sitting around, or repeating a punchline that isn't funny over and over, or The Professor and the cat whining at each other, or some other nonsense that undercuts the humor I'm actually here to watch before we even get to something worth remembering. I said it in another comment, but I can't fathom anyone paying 50 dollars for the collection and seeing that out of 24 episodes there's maybe 10 episodes worth of good content (if that) scattered about and thinking that they still got a good deal. This show belongs on a digital storefront where people who want to check it out can do so for the
It's funny... Ok, for those who are or have read the manga, you would've already read this and possibly figured it out. Ok, so at the end of volume nine, it shows that it's been some amount of time since the time of the normal Nichijou timeline. It's actually one of the three or four glimpses into the future of the main characters. So, the reason why I specifically brung up the end of volume nine is because it is easier with how Hakase is in highschool. Remember how she's supposed to be 5 in the normal timeline? The manga shows that she is in the same year that the Sucharaka Three (plus Nano) are in, making her around 15. The information someone can grab from this is that it's been ten or so years since the original time that Nichijou took place. AND! Taking the information that the year it first aired was 2011 (but maybe it was a different year for the world of Nichijou, I'm not sure...), I think that the time that the small time capsule "arc" takes place around 2021!! Gosh... That's... 3 years from now... So I would be... Ehugh...
raykrislianggi - AniMusic I have seen plenty call it boring. The jokes are way drawn out. That wouldnt be a problem if they changed the joke a biy. But no, they keep the same joke. The characters dont evolve at all. And they have bland personalities
[Yoshikage_Kira] To be fair, there's no such thing as comedy for everyone. People seem to love the comedy in Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou, I don't, but I respect the people who find it funny and accept that I'm actually the odd one out. I didn't quite get Nichijou at first, but after watching a couple episodes, it really grew on me. I don't find any of the jokes in Nichijou as repetitive, quite the opposite, they're all unpredictable, random, extreme, and very well animated. The show's comedy is one of a kind, you won't find it anywhere else. Not even Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou is that extreme.
[Yoshikage_Kira] See? No comedy is for everyone. I don't like Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou, but I don't have the right to say that it's a horribly boring anime. The comedy is just not for me to enjoy.
I wish you did more reviews like this - reviews discussing and exploring what a show is about in depth, rather than splitting things into arbitrary factors. It feels like you can talk much more about each show, and possibly give a better idea as to whether people would like the show this way. (that being said, I do still like your reviews)
I seriously just started watching Nichijou yesterday! Has to be the funniest thing I have ever seen in my life! The whole Nano running into that boy causing a nuclear explosion thing had me hooked from the start.
Nichijou is my second favorite comedy anime, just barely edged out by Good Luck Girl and barely edges out Sgt. Frog. It knows how to really make the mundane look spectacular; we all know that, when we drop a piece of food, that's totally how we see the attempt to catch it in our minds. Like you said, "detail in the mundane." Great review! *HOWEVER,* how dafuq could you not show the prinicpal fighting the deer?!? lol XD.
I was introduced to Nichijou when I was working hard on Japanese Internet meme articles on Know Your Meme, and noticed OPs 1 and 2 heavily inspiring viewers to make parody versions of them as well as arrangements and performing them on real instruments. MADs on Nico Nico Douga and YTPMVs on TH-cam were also made as well.
nichijou was way ahead of its time. selamat pagi to you all.
Selamat malam.
Actually the show handle it wrong, but it's so funny ><

I really didn't think you needed a reason for nichijou, its so good on its own
Too bad it won't have a second season, one of the best slice of life out there.
I love the absurd over the top humor of Nichijou. The crazier, the better! In which other show can you see a school principal wrestle a deer?
Where's the German Suplexing deer part? I expected it to be in this...
LopousRBLX A gif of that is why I know this show exists.
LopousRBLX Dude, same! lol XD
Bartholomew Peter for me it's a scene where she drops her yaoi scribbling sand then brutally smacks down anyone in the area(a cop included) who may of seen them
The deer part is even more common among people, but that part is amazing too. Just every part of this anime is amazing imo.

That's what stood out to me as well.
YES.
I haven't watched the video yet. But i clicked it just to agree with your video title.
This review is good and all..but does anyone know why it didnt get season 2 considering its popularity?
Because in Japan it was a major marketing failure for Kyoto Animation.
so..no chance at all for season 2?
I recall a big guy from Kyoani saying that the reputation of the studio was being jeopardized by Nichijou, so I guess not. Unfortunately.
Alfredo Mariani what!!?! whyyy??? it's, objectively speaking, the best anime they've ever produced :((
Nichijou didn't sell in Japan at all. It was a total flop.

I'm British and my Japanese sucks but I still find 99% of it hilarious.
Props to you for using Kingdom Hearts OST in this video. Always a pleasant surprise!
I watched it in 2023 and I wish I had discovered it sooner but with the news of s2 not coming out I was devastated.
GR Anime Review: Nichijou Clip Show
nice outro you did at 9:35 glass reflection keep up the good work bro.
Why i need "daily life" in my life....
Well because i don't have life.... Probably?
Probably!
Loved how you snuck Kingdom Hearts music in at around 8:10!! Hope other people noticed it, too 👍🏻
Gintama?
The Five Steps was my favourite part boo. Never stop. Got it.
Also, her scream went so far it even pierced Pluto AND KEPT GOING. Holy shit it never stopped.
I feel like this entire video is a Nichijou joke...
Nichijoke?
Thank you for articulating so nicely everything I love about Nichijou!
i thought this was just a show about cute girls being funny wtf
Nope. The thing about Nichijou is that all characters look cutesy but all of them lit all of them aren't trying to be cute. The anime is crazy wild.
how the hell did you go from talking about a comedy anime to a deep philosophical speech giving me way too many feels? I love it
I just could never get into Nichijou, don't know what it is. Tried to watch and couldn't sit through more than 1 episode and somehow got through 6 episodes over a month and dropped it. Nichibros, however, is the better show IMO.. absolute genius execution about simple life.
Got through one and a half episodes and stopped watching... Didn't find it that funny or interesting at all :/
Mine is opposite. Drop Nichibros after 4 eps. Watched Nichijou in 2 days.
Those random, super-detailed shots are some of the pieces of animation I like to start at the most.
I don't need to watch this video to give it a like.
“Our everyday lives may, in fact, be a series of miracles. They just may be….” -Koujirou Sasahara
Nichibros > Nichijous
Erik Litsenius do you mean Danshi Koukousei No Nichijou?
yes
I love both! But if you put a gun to my head, I'd have to agree.
truth
no
How did I not notice this video until now? It was released on my birthday! And I'm currently watching Nichijou! And now I can do it legally!
i love your vidz but u need to be more upto date and vast ur falling behind
Junior Shaw i disagree
for example
are you the type of guys that would you say music becomes outdated? because that's the vibe i get from this comment
Finishing it tonight, absolutely loving it, especially the scenes with Mio running amok here and there. Oh, and Nano & Hakase's cute moe life, too!
I got bored so often. Especially during the static shots. The jokes most of the time are the entertainment equivalent of dangling keys in front of a baby's face.
Mr_Dragon it's not for everyone, and I don't mean it in a pretentious manner. Personally I find hyperbolizing comedy hilarious
Slow down on that edge man. If you don't like it just say you don't like it lmao.
JINGLY KEYS.
FUN FOR BABIES, NOT FOR BATMAN.
AAAGGGHHHH.
Ehugh...
Anyone else find this anime horrobily boring?
It's just you.
raykrislianggi - AniMusic I have seen plenty call it boring.
Lol, I love Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou. The animation is simple, but the voice acting and situations are perfect.
*HOWEVER,* how dafuq could you not show the prinicpal fighting the deer?!? lol XD.
I agree :3
Hey if you like shows like these then I recommend Azumanga Daioh :D
I was introduced to Nichijou when I was working hard on Japanese Internet meme articles on Know Your Meme, and noticed OPs 1 and 2 heavily inspiring viewers to make parody versions of them as well as arrangements and performing them on real instruments. MADs on Nico Nico Douga and YTPMVs on TH-cam were also made as well.
Coming from your dystopian future in the year of 2020, where the world is being hounded by the Coronavirus, this series is what I truly need now.
Best birthday present ever. Thanks Arkada!
FINALLY A VIDEO ON NICHIJOU! MY FAVORITE
Thank you for mentioning my two favorite animes. Nichijou and tamako market, i had no idea they were from the same studio
i recently dropped a few Nichijou remixes on my page and then you make this video..what timing!
