Number 1 worked for me - deleted them all but when I restart I STILL get the old image coming up (one that I personally added) even though it appeared deleted. I will live with it - it's not the worst problem in the world. Thanks for your help.

try converting your image to .jpg
I just recently discovered, that for some reason the lock screen seems to not accept .png image file
converting is simply a matter of opening it at Paint app > File > Save as > jpeg file or any file except png
