The cockpit for those was more impressive because rather than just a giant display you actually had three main displays; one for each cockpit window, plus a few smaller displays with actual buttons to change the functionality of your radar, weapon groupings and other stuff.
I played this at a Con a few times and i wish this was regularly available a arcade restaurants like Dave and Buster's because I would be on this like mud on a jeep.
When I saw the cockpit of all the mobile suits, I was like "This will make a BADASS arcade game" and here it is! Quite possibly the most immersive Gundam arcade game I've ever seen!! I wish they'd bring these to the US, that would be awesome!!
When my brother visited last week, I made a point to find this game and play it. He got really into it. Also, it has been awhile since I have played it and I noticed that the price to play had dropped. It use to be like 500 yen but it is now 300 yen.
There was an episode of zoids just like this, where a kid hopped in a pod at the mall and was playing against real zoids pilots and destroyed them. The game screen, aiming reticule and sticks all looked exactly like this gundam pod.
Kinda sad Arcades aren't as regarded in the west (in Japan, an arcade was plenty of excuse to get all the stress out of you in one shot along with a tonne of excess energy because you otherwise had to be quiet (thin walls mean you couldn't be loud without annoying the family and neighbors), an arcade allows you to be loud and not mind too much the volume as EVERY MACHINE is equally loud so it gets drowned out.)
I would love to open up a gundam style arcade/gunpla store and if I could have this this game with an English setting I think it would be a perfect hobby place

Dynasty Warriors Gundam is a Dynasty Warriors clone. they've at least bothered to create a different gameplay style in the Gundam Breaker Games. To the point that you can use things link funnels and melee attacks at the same time. Add well as giving you the ability to have several different weapons that you can interweave into a combo. There is a lot of customisation to be had with Gundam Breaker. Gundam Vs. also suffers in the same respect as the Dynasty Warriors Gundam games in regards to your playstyle being fixed. Though they are all great games in their own ways.
Major McWeebglasses must have Zabi ties, he certainly didn't gain his promotion through battlefield skill. I played this game in both Shanghai and Hong Kong. I was stoked it made the short boat ride from Japan. Feds Rule.
I don't understand why they have the camera perspective from the cockpit level. (I get that the pilots in the cockpit, but the view of the outside world is supposed to be routed from the face lense) This brings up another question. Wouldn't it be a bit of a perspective shock to controlling a mobile suit if the gravitational effects while moving around feel torso centered where you sit, but your view is from the head? (It seems to me it'd be like putting human consciousness inside their belly yet maintaining vision at head level.

Every gen con has the Virtual World Entertainment Battletech Firestorm VR pods. Over 30 customizable buttons, throttle, joystick, pedals, and three screens dedicated to displaying enemy mech info, radar display, and outside view. 8 bucks a play and I feel it's more immersive than this. Cool effects when hit, but that's the only pro chosing a Gundam pod over a Battletech pod.
For the first five minutes or so of watching this video, I was totally thinking, "Wait, did Mary somehow get over to CA to visit Vincent or something?" and it wasn't until Vincent started speaking Japanese that I realized "This is still from Japan." LOL It's like when you read English as Japanese (or Japanese as English) and then you're like "Why does this make no sense?" (Seriously, I do that now. I have to actually think about what language I'm reading before I start.)
Look at the fucking controls...the gamepads/joysticks...so awesome, like in Gundam, and the screens in sides..... Not just stupid buttons and a stick...or steering wheel.

upgrade the visuals to match the size of the machine and this kind of game could've EASILY kept arcades alive and popular in the US.

Look up the Gundam Breaker games. It's literally what you're describing. First two are dirt cheap for PS3.

They did this over 10 yrs ago with Mech warrior, same idea with pods. Dave and Busters use to have it.

I believe the jet fighter and star wars themed pod uses the same system and are made in Japan too. They changed the theme for the American market.
