    Hey everyone! The format for this video is meant as a test, and i would love to know if you would prefer if i go even more in-depth at the cost of the video being longer compared to this!

    This really helped for a brand new player. Sometimes I read rules and have no idea if they are good or bad. This helped me visualise how to use the blade champ.

    I had some good luck in my last 3 games with my Blade Champ. My local group is playing Crusade, so it helped in the second and third game his unit had Scout 9". Against Guard, Nids, and Necrons. I very much used them like the Missile launched across the battlefield and forced my enemies into melee in turn 1 for the latter 2 games. They just tore through multiple units in each game. Using that advance and charge once per-game made all the difference. Also, helped the second game my opponent had terrible overwatch roles with his big guns.

    This seemed like a good balance between depth and length. Maybe you continue with this length/depth for a group of characters and units, then do a game where you demonstrate those characters and units on the tabletop?

      I am not much for doing battle reports because for 90% of people its more about seeing a fun game of Warhammer. That requires both me and the opponent to "put on a show" either in form of commentary or gameplay

    Doing a 500-point tournament on Saturday and all I'm taking is a Blade Champion with Ceaseless Hunter inside a 5-man Wardens squad (with spears) and an Eversor Assassin.
    I do not expect to do well.

    Great video! I have a rules clarification if I may? I have a rather limited pool of Custodes (combat patrol, rhino and Blade Champion) and in a 1000pt list I don't have a unit to attach the Blade Champion to (the Custodian Guards have a Shield Captain already) and therefore the Blade Champion isn't attached to a unit.
    Genuine question - I know the first part of the Martial Inspiration ability won't work as per the rules commentary - 'while this model is leading a unit' phrased rules can't affect a character on his own.
    However, I am interested to understand if that restriction extends to the 2nd paragraph (starting 'in addition') regarding the once per game advance + charge?
    Same with the Legacy of Combat ability, these rules refer to 'this model's unit' - does that work when the character is on their own (i.e. does he count as a 'unit' in this context) or is it safe to say none of the Blade Champions abilities will work when on his own?
    Many thanks in advance! :)

    • @Rejnols
      @Rejnols  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Legacy of Combat should work as the model is still a unit. The Martial Inspiration second paragraph ill be quite frank, i am unsure. It does say "in addition" kinda like its continuing the sentence, so maybe its a no.

    Behemor also good to get rid of technomancers so the guard can wipe the rest of the unit

    Would be useful to examine the enhancements. All of them seem better on a BC than any other character. Veiled blade with the heavy profile or Ceaseless hunter for even more mobility. Even Unstoppable destroyer synergizes with his charging ability. One question I haven't managed to get a concrete answer to is whether the mortal wounds from UD would trigger from Heroic intervention for even more synergy. I'm a pretty new player and I've been using him with a guard unit in deep strike with varying success. If I can Rapid ingress him he's sure to deal some serious damage next turn, but even with normal deployment he has a good chance to make the 9" charge. Something I haven't managed yet but I'm thinking might be a good option with this setup is to always have him as a counter charger - if the opponent threatens to charge your unit, you rapid ingress the BC and intervention the charger for free. There was a relic in 9th edition that allowed you to do something similar with a terminator captain from across the board which I hope gets added to the new codex in some form.

    • @Rejnols
      @Rejnols  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Heroic Intervention does not count as a charge. If the requirement for Unstoppable Destroyer (btw dont take this enhancement unless you wanna meme) is to make a charge then it does not work.

      Heroic intervention says that you declare a charge and resolve it as if it were your charge phase. Both of Unstoppable destroyer's abilities trigger when you end a charge move. I don't see any timing restrictions or other rules that would prevent you from using them. Might as well throw this question out here too: would abilities like Lance trigger off of HI?

      @@Rejnols the strategem reads that your unit declares a charge but you do not receive any charge bonus this turn , i.e. Fights First (p. 42 of the Core Rules pointing to p. 29 for the Charge Bonus), so technically Heroic Intervention should work with Unstoppable Destroyer, unless it's been ruled otherwise that I'm not aware of.

    • @nikolaybogdev3616
      @nikolaybogdev3616 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The wording is part of my confusion - the only restriction HI has is that the unit doesn't receive the charge bonus, which is specifically designated as the Fights first ability. Unless I'm missing some rule or errata I can't find anything that says you don't count as having charged. Ultimately it doesn't matter, as best case scenario it would be a couple of extra damage in a very niche situation, but stuff like that is interesting to me. In my experience with other strategy games, it is when you start to stack up little bonuses like that all over the place that you get a truly overpowered end product, and that is something I feel is sorely missing with custodes currently. The army is very one-note compared to others and doesn't really have any combos to speak of. The only significant ones I can think of are Draxus with guard and disembarking saggitarum from a coronus carrier to get rerolls with their devastating wounds ability and that's rather underwhelming for the points and only once per game. The characters seem to be the main problem as the relevant ones just make the attached unit more effective at what it already does, but don't grant abilities it doesn't already have or can gain through strategems. That's why I really like the BC in particular and the captain on bike (which I think is hugely underrated and can be a powerhouse once again if they ever bring it down to a reasonable price) - they give you extra abilities that actually let you play your army in a different way. Hopefully they fix that with the new detachments and the new model which looks to be a leader. @@Rejnols

    In tournaments I have been told that Slayer of Tyrants does not apply against units led by a character, that it only applies when the character is alone, is this well executed that way?

    Can u explain why people play Trajan? Isnt he useless?
    Main problems of custodes is tgat they die by shooting and that thsy are wery expensive, Trajan dont solve any of these problems
    Isnt BC only good character in this patch?
    BC + blade + Guard rerols can deal more damage then Trajans oneshot 12 attacks
    Shield Captain is also bad cause his katah do less damage then BC's blades, and if i spend CP wise, u can just pay for stratagems.
    BC also can do good rapid ingress (or even try to reroll for 9th deepstrike charge if situation forces u to take a risk)
    Also rerols on advace is very good, cause its easiest ability to use, u dont need special situation to use it

      Fight first is only if you are on an objective, with Trajann its anywhere. Depending on the rule set you play with, Trajann lets you ignore -1 damage, armor of contempt and so on meaning that he is the only leader that can make a unit of Custodes reliably kill a Redemptor Dread. His OC cannot be modified, so even if you fail battleshock you still hold an objective. He cannot be slowed down by Night Spinners. I can keep going but hopefully you get the point@@troyanez373

      @@Rejnols anyway useless, tanks can kill redemptor, BC with blade and guard deal 6-8 damage to dread and Trajan oneshot only 8 (against most units BC will do better cause free press against char and d1 blades against swarms)
      99% time BC will be faster, there not so many modifiers to dodge (even if ebemy have them he can just use them on an other unit)
      Trajan do not ignore -1 damage
      Trajan is just a slow piece of stuff, (both lore and table top) wardens cant kill lots of things, and cant surfive lots of things.
      OC is important, but BC onece again better with 9 OC
      Traj (trash) cost 160 more then 3 cust and do less then 3 regular cust

      @@troyanez373Trajann is an absolute tank that can take a hammer blow and deliver one back. The blade champion is great and he hits like a truck but he can't take a hit back. Trajann is excellent to hold objectives with wardens, real tough nut to crack. We don't focus on just killing units, we also focus on getting and holding objectives and Trajann is definitely someone you want doing both of those things if you have the points to spare. Every single game I've played Trajann has tanked an obscene amount of damage and has survived far longer than the blade champion ever has
