    Few things:
    1) I have found with chrome paints you can use any color as an undercoat as long as it is a gloss finish, the lighter the color the brighter the chrome is.
    2) There is a difference between clear and true candy paints. True candy paints are completely clear as they are an ink base so once you get to the color of the ink it doesn't any darker. The majority of clear paints are slightly opaque so the more you put on the more solid the color and less of the base coat shows through.
    For candy paints I use Createx Colors Candy2o as they get mixed with the clear coat. Also Createx ULVS clear coats block UV rays to protect the paints. Createx also makes various colors of surfacer and are a gloss finish so you can reduce the number of paint layers.

    I have a strange question.
    Have you ever used candy paint as a base stage before using more beginner techniques, such as deeper shading in the crevices and doing edge highlights, maybe some rust and chipping as well?
    I don't even know if that would work together, but what I'm thinking is to have something really glossed, but also really aged.

      Hard to answer without knowing much! Do you mean re-scribe the panel line or add panel line accent? I'm also not sure what kind of paint job you did... if you are using only acrylic, the only thing you can do to fill in the panel lines would be a wash... that'd be a more weathered look.

      Paints of the same brand usually don't call for a different thinning ratio for metallics. I thin it as I do normal colors (within the same brand). Is your base color gloss? Most people us a gloss black. If your base is matte, your metallic will come out more matte too.

    • @agungeffendy
      @agungeffendy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are many factors that effect the glossy look on metallic. My recommendation is to start from the surfacer that you use. Example: Mr. Surfacer 1500 Black + Mr. Color Ueno Black will still be less glossy than Koong’s LGB-101 Black Gloss. Next factor is how you spray the black gloss. Try to spray thinly first and then finish the spray with a big blast (need practice). After that, you can spray some thinner also to make it glossy. Wait a few hours depending on the paint you use. Then start using the metallic base. (Chrome/silver). Oh, and Just in case: you need to shake the paint bottle before you put it into airbrush. New bottles of paint need to be stirred properly. Especially metallic paints, the metallic particles tends to make a gunk at the bottom. As for the ratio, I use 1:2; just like any other paint. Sorry if it’s too long, I’ll stop now.

    A few questions:
    1: Any tips for spray painters?
    2: Do you have experience kitbashing, because I was wondering if you hand any advice on the matter. I want to kitbash the Transient Gundam with the Gundam 00 Shia Qant and I've been trying to research easy ways to modify shoulders so that I can attach the Transient's right shoulder to the Qant's torso without much luck.
