This is a typical late 80s cheesy, campy, over the top demon possession/ horror movie. It's fun and charming... and as an African American and genre fan, all I have to say is YES the black guy lives!!!!! Lol, thanks Off the shelf reviews!!!!
This is one of my all time favorite guilty pleasure Halloween flicks, I've watched it every year for as long as I can remember.
Okay guys. My memory of Night of the Demons is more favorable than the movie actually is. At least Gary enjoyed it so I don’t feel so bad recommending it. It’s not high quality, but it is a good 80’s horror film. 😂😂😂😂
My first introduction into this series was the second film. I was not 17 yet when I first saw it and was blown away by it and I was renting that VHS over and over like my life depended on it. I always wondered what the first movie was like. I finally got it the year before last. Only just recently a few months ago I found out a third film was made. I still have to track it down. I hope you guys review Night of the Demons 2.
Lipstick is a memorable part of these films!
I love how Iain is so conflicted between the idea that he created in his head how the movie should be.... and the real movie.. xD
Halloween Party is hilariously generic. Bullet dodged. The actual title is great.

The entire time watching this review im just looking at Gary shaking my fkn head... Night of the Demons is cinematic love... It was never supposed to be a 5-star meal made for the queen and king of England. It's a B-grade horror movie that did remarkably better than it should have and lives up to the standards of what it was made as. It is a fun as hell cult classic.
Absolute facts! Night Of The Demons is in my opinion one of the best Cult Classics! It is definitely an unforgettable, fantastic film!❤
I don't think the dance scene was filler. It was to scare Sal. The only demon who was dropping bodies off rip was Stooge. Susan and Angela was toying with them, being spiteful. During the dance, she was making the radio and lights come on, on command and scared Sal. When he seen Susan, she was trying to lure him in the room but he didn't bite and said he was going home. Susan replied with saying, "you are home". It was a great set up and slow burn.
I facepalmed so hard at Iain by the end of this review I almost had to go back to the hospital! I used my wrong hand. Just two days ago I accidentally cut myself, while trying to cut a cornstarch in half... 4 stitches, so the wound is still healing. I facepalmed that hand and it hurt, Iain >:-O Thanks allot! Great review guys! You made me laugh :-D
This movie is great! Yeah it has its problems, I agree with Iain on most of them!
But goddamn it man, this movie is still fun to watch! Still a classic! That lipstick scene is still memorable lol and disturbing

I saw this movie when I was 7 I loved it so much. My older cousins got in so much trouble. Though the old man scared me.
I saw the remake on the Sy-Fy Channel (dumb name change). It was near the end, and I was very confused. I thought it was some Sy-Fy Original "Evil Dead" rip-off. I spent years trying to learn the name of this strange film. Never saw any of the others.
Haven’t heard of this film. We must get different films in Aus! Will have to check this series out.

I've got all of these movies including the remake. I personally have a soft spot for these movies. Demons 1 and 2 make these night of the demons movies look like a cake walk. FYI. The 1st movie scared the shit out of me

Wow, it's cringy to watch Iain trying to be intellectual in his overly critical analysis of all of these fun 80s horror flicks. Gary understands it and keeps a more mature and relaxed approach, with, apparently, a broader reference basis. Iain is just not getting it. Maybe he's not actually into (silly) horror? Great reviews though.
Tom Ffrench You’re both right and wrong. In my opinion a silly flick doesn’t have to be rooted in logic, and can survive on pure nonsensical entertainment alone. But yeah, the characters sure suck balls.

I enjoy this movie but I understand that this isn't gonna be for everyone. Its basically a slasher formula meets Evil Dead demonic possession. Obviously I prefer other horror flicks but Night of the Demons is very much a guilty pleasure for me.

One of these days--preferably once it comes out on Blu in a couple of months--you'll have to watch The Manitou (1978). It makes Night of the Demons look like The Exorcist.
Whether Susanne or Angela gets possessed first I don't think made much a difference. Angela still turned out to be the Head demon anyway. Let alone only till right now realised that Angela has an "Angel" type name ironicaly?
One of my absolute favorite cheesy horror movies of all time.
How could you guys dock this movie, it's got Linnea Quigley, so it's an automatic 10/10!

Going with Gary on this one. It's just a fun movie to lose some brain points with. I will say that Night of the Demons 2 is the better film imho. Bigger budget with better actors, much gorier than the first, and holy hell the titty hands scene freaked me the fuck out! I would suggest for folks new to the series to start with the second film first, then go back and watch the first. Probably have a better time,. The third is a HARD pass though.
I've definitely been to parties where we play bloody Mary... but not uh past lives shit.
Oh my God this is my favourite movie I love the trilogy and Demons is my other favourite movie Demons one and Demons two But I completely know what Dave is talking about I bought Demons three at a discontinued VHS store in Camden Town and it was called Demon house
When i was looking up loads of you tubers who reviewed 1987 Hellraiser that is how I came across "off the shelf reviews with gary & ian" I listen to them from northern ireland uk they are great guys who are very good true friends with each other who are very deep in their great reviews of games & movies

Just recently saw this movie myself. It was a meh movie for me. I enjoyed it kinda cause it was spooky and creepy and has to be one of the first movies to have the only black guy survive all the way to the end. But I definitely did NOT like a majority of these characters! They were all despicable people in how they just snipe at each other and these are supposed to be a group of friends? And not just the main characters, the other characters are horrible too, the brother and the old man are just horrid people that their only appearances on screen is more than enough to where you don't want to see them again. (Sadly we have to be stuck with Stooge for the WHOLE MOVIE till he dies, I was just disgusted with him. His costume fits him, he really is a pig) The only redeemable characters are Rodger, Judy and Max to a certain point even if some of them are whimpy or bland.
I enjoyed the music though. The music I think was the best part of the WHOLE movie. That credits song was the best thing. And the animated opening too, that was the BEST part of this whole messy movie.
On how does this demon split itself? I figured this demon had three parts since when it comes out, they talk about hearing three separate bangs from the floor below so I figured that there were actually three demons since we see only three characters transform into demons while the other victims are all shambling corpses
Omg this is my fav movie how weird I done same thing as u I got number 3 on vhs before and it was called demon house I love 1 2 and 3 amazing movies I know everything and Amelia kinkade is actually Blanche from golden girls ru niece and was in an episode and she was on episode of Anna Nicole show as a animal therapist p.s Susan in demons 1 was the punk zombie in return of living dead this is a classic

This is an awesome low-budget fun B movie you have to grade it on that level I don't think this movie is any more illogical than Demons it just has a more standard Horror movie plot. This movie plays like a popcorn party movie you are just supposed to have fun with the tits and over-the-top fun 8os characters and gore it was never intended to start a franchise.

Dozens that don't like this movie, you mean? Awesome! This movie is highly rated in the horror communities, I've found. I've never quite got why that seems the case. And I really wanted to like, being it's considered a cult-classic in the HC.
The music was awesome, unlike a poodle turd.

But Roger is not the Token Black Guy of this movie.
A Token Black Guy is a character that's was not intended to be in the movie at first,but then one of producers looked at the cast and said:
"It's not diverse enough,put in a black guy"
The writers:
"We can't,we've already cast everyone and we don't have any written dialog for him"
The producers: "Who cares,just put him in it and make him say generic black guy things like 'Damn' or 'Snap'. Black people just want to see other black people in movies,they don't need to have a personality other than them being black.And it's a horror movie,so you can kill him off when you run out of things for him to do"
That's why blacks always die in horror movies.
But if the writers are the ones putting black people in the movies,it turns out better because their not just pandering to a racial minority.
Roger has characteristic that are not just him being a black guy,shitty characteristic but characteristic non the less,and that's why he survived.

Demons and Demons 2 are much better than this shite. The Accept "Fast As A Shark" motorcycle sequence alone supersedes this entire series.
Demons 1 is better than Night of the Demons overall because of the motorcycle sequence but Demons 2 isn't very good at all and both the first 2 Night movies blow it away.
