    I like this conceptualization as a defense!! I can see the disorganized attached person created this defense as a child to protect themselves. I’m curious how many other ppl were labeled as “too sensitive” in childhood and thought it was just “who they were”.

    It would seem that tears can be used in two very different ways - either in the natural, securely attached form as a cry for connection, or as a defense mechanism to resist connection.

    Is there ever a good purpose for regressive teariness? Like during an argument? Or is it always a defense mechanism that gets in the way of progress?
