if dopamine, humour and entertainment are used to evade meaning, depth and reality.
then it's just a coping mechanism.
The video is more healthy than it is sad. Congratulations for making a masterpiece Kurosai.

    • @yt_gptzen9279
      @yt_gptzen9279 ปีที่แล้ว +16

Why do you believe, dopamine, humor, entertainment, is completely separate from meaning, depth and reality?
You do realize for all of human history we have done something entertaining, something humorous, something that gives us that dopamine rush (because dopamine never shuts off in our brain).
And along with that it gives life meaning, and depth, and helps us stay in reality.
People without entertainment, or humor loses their sense of reality, because then you have mentally ill people that struggle to socialize with others.
Its entertainment and humor that helps us be cohesive with one another, it's a social trait that has evolved in the majority of us humans.
This demonization of what you first listed is misguided, and understandably so because...
What IS bad would be the lonely aspect of it, if you have no humor to share, nobody else to be entertained with, no dopamine rush to experience with (and I mean with someone in person). Then there you have a point, because all of these feelings are usually shared with others, and the fact that we mostly communicate through online very much ignores the important part of socialization.
my bad for the long paragraph
TLDR; humour, entertainment, dopamine rush isn't inherently bad because those are all activities that help better socialize with one another, the issue is when we have no one else to experience those feelings and moments with in person.
Its the "online" aspect of it that is harmful, as it ignores the most crucial part of socialization, and that's actually knowing you're talking to a "real" person

    • @treesaregreen
      @treesaregreen ปีที่แล้ว +17

      @@yt_gptzen9279
I did imply that they're opposites, but I didn't say they are completely seperate.
I said: one side shouldn't be used to evade(ignore) the other.
thats why the word "if" is so important in that sentence, it's only IF you use it as a cope or escape, that it is unhealthy. Eg: Developing a parasocial relationship with a content creator instead of developing a friendship with a person who Really knows you. That friend may not be as funny as the content creator, but they will listen to you & stick through with you when times are tough.
I agree with you: the historical argument. the fact that joy's part of the experience of reality, and proof that you live a good day to day. and that it is specifically when you are "online" to the point where you're "alone" that it gets bad.
What I would add-on is that anguishing, struggling, searching, dedicating yourself, and overcoming yourself are also part of the experience of reality (a moral that has been shared in any decent anime). The internet can be used for literal education(all subjects) and even for "spiritual/moral" education as i just implied. So dopamine, humour, entertainment, computers and the internet are all not inherently bad, but together they Can be mis-used... (social media is the amalgamation of those things).
In todays world, reality is unnattractive, complex or arduous, while social media develops a perfect algorithm(profile of you) to keep you locked in.
That's why its up to us to shed light onto the side that's under-represented. Even if both sides have their positives, negatives and overlaps.
I can't help but Seperate internet and reality, a world where these 2 merge is actually pretty dystopian. But you are completely right; dopamine, humour and entertainment are not 'solely owned' by the internet. it's just that the internet & social media dominate the 'cultural market' - defining what we consume, our standards, and how we orientate ourselves. or at this point, the internet IS the cultural market, thus leading to the under-representation of 'living in reality'.
This video has two halves, and with that you can say it respects the full spectrum of this cultural/spiritual argument.
Everyone who's commented see that 2nd half as either deep(meaningful, based) or disturbing(sad, harsh).
my comment was indeed, aimed against that 'other side', with their long term/spiritual health in mind.
For such a short piece of media to bring in this historically new argument, and challenge so many, while passing-off as 'entertainment'.. that's why I called it a masterpiece.
My comment is long enough already so let me thank you, your response was very good inspiration for me to think about this deeper and put my subcontious thoughts into a fully worded explanation.

nah, if anything anonymity is one of the problems with the internet. a way for low life shitstains to hide behind an anime avatar and contribute to harassing women on the internet, or spreading hate against minorities they'd never do irl because then they'd get the shit kicked out of them.
that's actually the problem with the start of this video, it makes the argument that the problem with "cAnCEl cULtuRe" is people holding others accountable for their actions, instead of poaching for decade old tweets someone made when they were a teenager.

so underrated because people find the truth to be the most hard thing to take a real look at and try to fix it.
a lot of people in this day and age are arrogant and delusional,
so much so that they rather live in this social media bobble that the end goal of it is to take more money and time from you,
while you keep scrolling hoping your life gets better by doing what you've always done.
why do people believe that? they don't but they keep pushing their goal away more and more until it is not visible to them anymore.
    our society needs to change.

Awesome video man! I like the A.I pic of Elon Musk and Kaguya-sama. Let's see if you can get a V-tuber on a future vid!
Whoa... this went from making me laugh.... to going, "This is too real. In fact, this is REAL LIFE man. By the way thanks for including Cell's at Work: Code Black. I asked you to include the anime in the comments of a previous vid. That anime gets way too real. Whoa
