You're a smart guy. I like figuring out things like that as well. By the way, I just went onto my roof, lightly flicked a black relay on my board, and it turned right on. Thanks for sharing! Saved me time and money!
@@lichin641 I am experienced and trained for AC . Do not do unless you are as well. I used a non conductive material ie plastic, wood, rubber. And I only used one hand.
It’s the capacitor!!!! I’ve changed my capacitor twice this summer. It’s been consistently 115’ everyday for like 6 days straight. Capacitor doesn’t always have to bulge. These $9 China capacitors suck ass!!!! Who says a woman can’t fix an AC unit🤷🏼♀️🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I have rewired both units. I have changed capacitors and contactor. I have checked everything up and down fighting this ac unit for two weeks now and was just about to give up. Thank you sir.
Helpful video. I’m having the same problem. Runs 5 minutes and trips the breaker. It only started doing this yesterday. I called a technician, because I don’t want to go thru all that. I would change the breaker, but there’s 4 of them that look like they are hooked together, A sticker goes across all 4. Heavy cables to all 4 of them.
classic287 does the whole unit turn off or just the fan or just the compressor? May be too hot ie contactor or compressor over heating. How’s your indoor air filter? Try changing, may be freezing up because of bad air flow. Thanks!
“Disclaimer” ***REMEMBER**** Do NOT Touch any wires while the unit is running or not. unless you have electrical use background. You can get shocked real bad! These run off 220v. I tapped it with insulated material ie plastic rubber or wood. Thanks! Be safe!
Carefully check your capacitor when the unit is running by measuring your amperage then multiply it by 2650. Take that number and divide it by your voltage which will give you the amperage it is actually producing. You must be very careful since this can be very high voltage and and can injure or kill you.
Christine asiatico take a picture of the ‘Name plate” (usually on the corner of the outside unit) and google “carrier condenser board”. Then, be sure it’s compatible with your Model number. Thanks! Does it turn back on?
in about 20-30 minutes the outside unit turns back on as well as the inside unit. but after about 3-5 mins of being on the outside unit will turn off while the inside unit continues to blow air. outside air temperature is 68 degrees. and thermostat is set to 72 degress
Had a blower motor replaced, next day the unit started to make a grinding noise, the cold air stops blowing and warm outside air starts blowing. After about 15 minutes of the noise it stops, the fan keeps running for about 30 minutes, and then the condenser kicks back on and starts cooling. Multiple ppl have been out and the manufacturer contacted, but nobody has ever seen this happen. All signs point to a bad condenser I'm told. Has anyone else heard of this problem before i go ahead and replace the condenser ? The unit is only 4 years old and a reheem
David Sobczynski so you replaced the blower motor (indoor unit) and the outdoor(condenser) makes grinding noise? Just want to clairify. “Bad condenser “ the condenser is made up of fan motors, compressor and electrical board. Grinding outside could be fan motor? Compressor? Try and listen to hear where the noise is coming from. Fan motors need oil sometimes.
@@dnarentz1377 tech said compressor. Problem is it may happen once a day twice a day or once a week. Sounds like the grinding is coming from the compressor but its only 4 years old. Checked all electrical and that seems fine
When I turn my heat on, the blower works but the fan and compressor don't kick on. When I switch to cold air, the compressor and fan kick on but the blower doesn't.
Bart Doo is it a heat pump reverse system? If you don’t use gas, when you heat there is an element that heats up in the blower in the house. To cool the house you need the outdoor(compressor) to cool. Do they work? Are you warm enough? Cold enough?

eazy paid like they said, capacitor. Always start at the breaker and follow to the unit, if you still have power going to unit, then it’s usually the capacitor
Srikant Ranjan Prasad it was the board, I ordered a new one but me tapping on it settled the problem, took a few days of intermittent light taps, by the time the board came in the mail, never had a problem. If nothing runs at the outside unit, it’s most likely a capacitor. $20 amazon

The Digital Underground Loft haha, great to hear! Have good summer!
You had it plugged in and did this

#Biden 2020 lol, yeah it’s good to have a few in stock during the summer months. Your right, not always a bulge, I’ve had some leak 💧, thanks!

Thanks for posting have the exact same issue on a water furnace, tapped the relay and the compressor started!!!
First thing I would check is to see if the condensor fan is spinning, if not check check the capacitor if it`s good check the contactor and motor.,

D Narentz, It runs for about 5 minutes and then breaker trips and everything goes off. Filters are clean. Condenser is clean
I’m trying to takeOut a for break a cluster which one of them is the one that trips
four breaker cluster

Good information. Thank you.
Have you clean out the coils ?
It doesn’t matter if it’s bulging or not it can be getting hot. I know this is a year old and hopefully you’re still not using a fan

i have a carrier heat pump, the outside unit runs for 5 mins then shuts off. i was wondering whats the name of the board that you ordered

So new unit replaced and the same thing is happening, no clue whats going on
It is the capacitor again!!!
