    Thank you so much! I decided to make a loop for a tiny garment given to me at the birth of my daughter 55 years ago in France. It's the one thing that I have saved from those memorable first months. The item in question is a handmade embroidered nightie - totally impractical in today's world. Merci beaucoup!

    I needed this. A vintage pattern said I needed to sew three loops for the buttons and it didn’t say how! Life saver. Simple and clear!

    This video of yours is SO much better than other ones I've watched on this subject. It's easier to keep the loop sized just right and also easier to tie the knots without having a bunch of threads under your hand to contend with. MANY thanks!!!

    Thank you for this video, that is so much easier and quicker than inserting those darn elastic loops, that always look horrible. I remember someone saying they used to use this technique in a lot of high end garments and still do in some instances.

    Did you use Embroidery Floss instead of Thread? Looks like bees wax on the floss for it to keep smooth and cooperative and maybe 2 strands of floss? It would be lovely for you to mention those little things for us newbys. It was beautiful to watch and a beautiful sew. Thank you!

    I'm going to try it. I'm wondering if the loss made in that way, just sort of held together by pinching them in the knot - not actually completely * through* a lopp, will hold, or possibly come unraveled. I hope that made sense, lol. I am going to try it, thank you.

    • @SewVintagely
      @SewVintagely  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! Yes, it holds. It's like finger crochet, and then you secure it at the end. :)

    Looks easier than it is. Did anyone get a thread loop that looked nice? My doubled threads kept getting entangled and the whole thing looks gnarled, messy, with stray loops from when the doubled thread got messed up. It is a shame as I was really happy with the dress I made but only this finishing touch really lets it down. I suppose it is down to practice. I'd use thicker single thread if I did it again. Pull it through very slowly.

    I am not a sewer by any means. How and what can I replace elastic button loops with? I have a brand new blouse and I can hardly get the elastic button loops over the buttons. The top is so cute, but the elastic button loops are a problem!! Suggestions anyone? Again, I have not sewed more than a button in my lifetime. Thanks!

    the caption makes it harder to follow the sewing, i have to keep rewinding, i think speaking aloud instructions better for something you are visually demonstrating.
