Yes. I remember being very stoked to purchase this game back then; I considered this as an "MvC2.5". Also, I wish Zillion (little known Tatsunoko property) characters were added to this game

"MvC2.5" It really, really isn't. Once you start to dig into the deeper levels this game has, you begin to realize that they manage to do something that Marvel has never quiet managed: A game with a offensive-defensive cycle without an overbearing comeback mechanic, with combo break system.
Quite the thing and a damn shame, because the closest that Marvel ever comes to that is MVCI. Issue with that is, it's marvel.... The series has a reputation of overbearing offence to uphold and MVCI (with some of it's combo structured based around Marvel 2) doesn't disappoint. Momentum is just stacked against you should you take a hit and their nearly no coming back from that. It just devastates intermediate players or anyone below that skillset unless you are very dedicated to the game.
TvC only managed this by simply not having that history, so the devs broke assumptions of what is expected in a VS. fighter. They put out a flawed but joyous thing.

Not to mention that this game came out at the height of SFIV, and with relatively new IPs like BlazBlue so why jump ship from more fighting game centric consoles for the only fighter besides Smash the Wii has ? It was never setup for success.
cmysharingan it was an actual success, Capcom sold a few million copies of the game in the West, enough to warrant a sequel............and then they lost the license for the game around the same time they lost the rights to MvC2.
Not to mention the original game was built on an arcade unit, using a custom spec motherboard heavily derived from the Wii hardware. There isn’t a name for this board but it’s somewhat similar to the Triforce arcade hardware in that it uses Nintendo’s proprietary hardware. So since the original TVC game was built on Wii hardware, it makes sense that it would only work on a Wii console. To port it anywhere else would mean that the game would have to be re-written from the ground up and the OG source code would have to be made from scratch, and that takes a hell of a long time to do, on top of all of the licensing restriction hell that Capcom was already going through just to get the game released outside of Japan.

Popdudeful true more so he’s original look, they took the Zero look from the GBA games while TVC took the original Zero look from Mega Man X
Yeah, want to hear something funny. When the Marvel community was crying tears of joy for Zero being added to the roster, I was straight up warning people that Zero was a massively bused character that was barely contained in TvC. With Marvel 3's lack of Defensive options, Zero would just run wild. He dropped and that is exactly what happened, with a nasty loop that they didn't fix in the transition. Only to "re-balance him" in ultimate.
To this day his "Dark Hold" is his Best special hands down. Loved this game so much

This was actually the game I played right before getting into street fighter 4 ultra, which was the first fighting game i took seriously. I happened to like it a lot, but ended up playing sf4 as it was the most recent sf title. But technically, this is what sparked my interest. Really cool to see it now!
This is the only VS game I ever put real time into. I played Jun/Ryu in this game, and holy shit does this bring back memories.

I remember being quite smitten with this game when I was younger...
The Tatsunoko characters were completely new to me, and their 80's anime style was utterly charming.
I adore the character art and cover illustration for TVC as well.
I also thought the giant "2 in 1" characters were quite interesting...
And I had no idea about the baroque mechanic - that is awesome!
I missed this game soo much! I remember having a room full of like 8 people taking turns with this, I should just off my Wii and play this game again.

This was my first ever fighting game. It's really impressive how they had the mech from Lost Planet and the giant gold robot as powerhouses but made them the only character you could use because of such. My only complaints is the final boss is op and Japan couldn't bring their animated character endings to the American version other than that, it's an amazing game which deserves more fame. Btw what's your favorite character in the game? Mine's Karas.

@@djhero0071 its the codes that we use to get the characters without getting them, when I played with jmcroft on stream he had a save file for his characters and colors, but in online you sometimes play without the save file, thus why you need the gecko codes to get the characters

The japanese version had some cool stuff the US didn't
Every character had animated endings.
The music was better.
It had the bgm change anytime you tagged in a new character like MvC3.
And it also had random mini games that were fun.
Can't believe this game is 10 years old already, remember buying this at gamestop back in 2010 and I played it so much. So much so that I was ranked number 6 worldwide for awhile, my online ID was BANKAI

I mean, that hasn't changed, my skills at fighting games are still sacrilegious, but before Tatsucap I was just going into fighters just pressin' buttons like unga-bunga. Now I actually try to figure out how stuff works, develop various strategies, etc. My go-to team in Tatsucap was Batsu and Polimar. Man it was nice to find a streamer that actually knows what the hell this game is. XD
All i remember about this game was that giant yellow brick guy who my brother used to pick, whos cheap af.

@@MH_Zard Careful dude. I was one of those rare players that _reveled_ in the giant vs team match up. PTX-40A was my secondary, and any time a Tekkaman appeared my only thought was "bring it on!" With smart play and match-up knowledge you can really give them a run for their money.
Now the Zero match sucks. He's the _real_ monster. Forget cutscene attacks, his mobility special and ability to fire powerful shots (not to mention literally double his output with his power-up super) far out of PTX's range was frustrating. Either you had an unblockable missile and milked it for all it's worth, or had to constantly predict his trajectory and shoot him out of the sky. And inevitably you get dizzied from taking so many hits trying to chase him down.

TvC yesssss! The game where they /finally/ gave Roll a fair shake at fightan; hecking loved it for that alone (though of course, it's also a great game in its own right).

I was literally in love with this game when it came out thought it was the coolest game. Really wish i knew about competitive fighting games/fgc at the time cause i really want to get into this game!
Me and my buddies in high school were fighting game fans. I remember playing Soul Caliber 4, Smash Brothers, Mortal Kombat, Marvel vs Capcom 3 but this game.. we put in over 300hours of game time on it. It was perfect, easy enough controls anyone could play while having enough advanced combos for us who wasted our days gaming instead of studying lol it was a good time
I got this along with BlaBlu for the PS3 when it came out. It was okay, even though I got controllers for the Wii. But THEN, I had saw they were selling the TvsC arcade stick and it was on sale. 2 for the price of 1. Literally a game changer. So much fun to this day. My brother always wants to play it when he comes over. I highly recommend playing this with the arcade stick. This was definitely a precursor to MvsC3 in my opinion. Underrated game, still enjoyable.
Ah man, I loved this game! It was one of my first fighters too. I was so obsessed. I was proud of finally seeing my man on leader boards after grinding for months. I miss playing my Megaman & Soki team and being a degenerate with his log ass range. This kinda makes me wanna play again

There are so many things I wish to come back to into this game, like Soki's secret op Super cancel which allows him to cancel into another super, so good.

The only reasons I say MvC2 is my favorite vs game are because I had it as a kid, the sprite graphics are better, and TvC was locked on the Wii prior to emulation. Something about this title is just so fun to play. The Zero in this one is still my favorite fighting game version of Zero.

You know, maybe but I will be blunt in saying that the game is what it is because of the Wii. I feel that a PS4 port would shove a ton more expectations on the game to "fix" it. I am not sure that TvC would come out of that in a good state.
Problem is the 3 button layout that would cause a lot of issues changing movesets and licensing due to the Tatsunoko Characters. We couldn't get Hakushou Daimyo cause of that in the West. That and the character themes were taken out cause of licensing.

This was the first fighting game that I tried to get good at. Unfortunately, it was a bit too difficult for me at the time. It was also the first game where I played Chun-Li instead of Ryu. That trend continued to this day. I should really go back and finally learn it.

This has been the only fighting game I actively tried to learn before SFV. I loved it so much, so many funny characters.. I used to play it online without a real modem, pretty weird stuff LOL
It's not that it's a forgotten game. It's just that this was when I could not afford buying new games, much less my own Wii at the time. Not to mention I was poopy with fighting games.

I found my copy yesterday. Not as monumental as Street Fighter IV but still pretty important as it was part of the era where Capcom was finding their feet with fighting games again. No copy and pasted sprites. Just honest to god effort.

And if there was one character I could bring back for a new MvC (or CvS3), it's Saki. Capcom can pretend Quiz Nanairo Dreams doesn't exist all they want, but Saki is way too damn good of a fighter to be left behind. (Not to mention that she's so cute.)
Honestly, this is my favorite fighting game. I mained Soki and for the other character Switched between Jun or Saki.

I’ve still got this for Wii, the GCN controllers the way to go. Jun/ Chun Li, Alex/ Roll, Megaman/ Ryu we’re my favourite teams.
