It was telling that Ruby's "Oscar speech" was thanking people for "saving her children" - instead of "My sadistic behavior is a life sentence for my children" - she's sad she was caught.

@@robinsaxophone232 thanking the neighbors should have been first. Thanking for the first responders and those who had the patience to let Eve decide when she felt safe enough to leave her cage regardless of how long it took?
Did the sadistic Rubes thank them for that? Because that was the most precious, kindest, caring, empathetic, loving experience that child had ever experienced.
There’s many places where she would have been forced to exit.

Her speech was total bullshit. She says Jodi brainwashed her. I think Jodi was pleased to know another person like her. She gave her a safe place to do these horrible things. But now that she’s facing prison, she’s saying Jodi brainwashed her. She did a 180 with her speech. I’m not buying it. It’s not possible for a person capable of torturing her kids to change that quickly. She was trying to manipulate the court for a reduced sentence.

Saw a study from 2023, and they were saying the population percentage is more likely around 42%, and of those 42%, not all are active in the church and practicing. That being said, I think the bigger problem will be, is that the courts aren't used to dealing with someone that made a living acting. And not just acting as in a movie or show, but someone who revolved their life (and the life of their family) around knowing what to do and say, to get the approval of the general public. For the average person, they're going to fall for the act. And if anything, it's going to be that act that gets her a ticket out of jail sooner.

Ruby’s Oscar acceptance speech was her playing the redemptive victim. She’s a narcissist extraordinaire. Even the way she said SHE CHOOSES TO GO TO PRISON. She has serious control issues. They aren’t sending her to prison. She’s choosing to go. And she is shedding her toxic layers and accepting that she has to do all this. No one is making her.
If she wanted to thank all those people, that’s wonderful. But write them a letter. That was the appropriate vehicle for those thank-yous. But she had to do it for show. She had to flaunt her peacock feathers for everyone to see. Look what a great redemption figure I am! I’m going to thank all these people and I know all their names and everything they did. And she should have spent those seven minutes talking about what she did to her children, and how sorry and remorseful she is to her children. But instead she barely talked about the children & when she did, she talked about what she was doing that was so good for her chicks. But then she talked more about how she was leading them at the end & she did go to the dark and dangerous waters, but they were out of it now and all those people had helped them. And she wrapped that up with a bow.

Some people find Jesus too quickly after being in prison. I don’t believe that at all. Her speech was horrible. It was better not saying anything. Chris watts did the same, saying over the phone that he is in prison so God can use him to preach the gospel. Gosh, God does not need people to go to prison to spread the gospel. Actually, pastors, preachers and evangelists are welcome at prisons.

If Ruby truly meant what she said don’t you think the first person she should have thanked would have been her son who escaped to get help? She listed every single cop, lawyer, family member, and cps worker by name but only referred to her 6 children as her chicks. Couldn’t be bothered with individual apologies for them. I also have a hard time believing she was totally brainwashed but simply snapped out of it in a few months with the wonderful mental healthcare she received in jail.

Her phone calls showed her words were nothing more to look better than Jodie and get less time. Kevin is not sorry or upset of what Ruby did. He was part of the mental and emotional abuse in the 8 passengers videos. She documented the abuse in the 8 passengers videos with the same pride as she did in the diary. Ruby, Kevin and Jodie are dangyto any and all children. If Kevin gets his hands on the two youngest children, he will make them pay for what happened. He never said what she did was wrong, he did not disagrees with her actions or statements she made of her children. My sorrow comes from knowing that these children are facing a lifetime of issues. My greatest hope is that each one finds a great therapist. The reality is that many will face a life of addictions, emotional instability, anger/hate, and illness both mental and physical. My heart breaks for them and for the 3 people I've found who escaped the cult I was raised in. 😢

I facepalmed myself into next month when the prosecutor actually said he thought Ruby less complicit than Jodi. Then, when he spoke of his beliefs about abuse not happening in rich households, I found myself wondering if he is truly that clueless about patterns of abuse, or if the Utah justice system is that polluted with people blinded by their faith based beliefs about parental 'authority' and filial obedience.
These children have been traumatized for life. There is no 'going back' to any kind of normal for them. It will take a lifetime of therapy and daily awareness for them to ever be able to cope with this level of destructive programming. Why should their abusers suffer a lesser consequence than their victims? Maximum sentence for these women. Words of remorse alone will never heal the wounds they inflicted on these innocent children.

Oh and she stopped her channel because of petitions and calls to CPS about her behavior. Cops came to Ruby and Kevin’s house before Jodi. And I would bet Jodi liked the fact that Ruby knew how to grow a channel and make that money. Because Ruby started going onto Jody‘s TH-cam channel and website.
Also, listen to Kevin’s 2nd interview with the police. Jody would say she had night terrors so Ruby would always go comfort her and stay in her room. This was during a time when Kevin and the kids and Ruby all were staying at Jody‘s house for some weird reason. And then it turned into Ruby saying I’m just gonna sleep up there every night and then they also had that other lady up there too. so I think there was something going on. I think that’s why Jody would separate women from their husbands because I think Jody was hurt or something went wrong in her past to make her hate men whether it was her father or maybe she had a doting father, and then men didn’t treat her the same way. something happened obviously. she is divorced and doesn’t have custody of her own children. I think we need to get away from always thinking that one person is the manipulator and one person is the poor victim. I think sometimes there’s two manipulators that come together and become more powerful. it’s happening more and more. Being connected with everyone in the world isn’t necessarily a good thing because bad ideas can grow and they don’t seem that bad when other people are OK with them. It’s a sense of community and that can breed evil.

The "other woman" you're referring to is Pam Bodtcher, the business partner of Jodi.
They thee women (Ruby, Pam and Jodi) were entangled around the belief that Jodi was chosen by god to be an apostle of some kind.
Religious beliefs, psychoticism, sadism, money, power seeking: it was a poisonous mixture for the Franke kids

I’m commenting too much but I am obsessed with this case. And I agree with so many of your comments. I totally agree about how the prosecutor is under Ruby’s spell. And what I really worry about is, he’s not looking at Ruby independently and what she as a mother did to her children. He’s comparing her to Jodi and how much worse Jodi is than Ruby. That’s just plain wrong. They are both equally awful, but their crimes should be looked at independently and not in relation to one another. That’s where he’s making his biggest mistake.
He did say that had he not done a plea deal, that they could’ve been charged with all six counts and not done any jail time based on their first offender status. So doing the plea deal he was able to make them agree to actually do prison time. So I understand that, but he is giving Ruby way too much leeway and that woman needs to do at least 20 years in prison.

3:58 - Actually this whole thing with the Franke children IS the problem with the LDS church. It was the LDS church who referred people to Jodi even though they were aware of her unethical practices. It was the LDS church who was made aware of the abuse happening to Jodi’s niece while in Jodi’s care and they did nothing to help Jessi (Jodi’s niece). It was the LDS church who wrote Jodi checks in the 1000s of dollars every month for Jodi’s “counseling” services. It is the LDS church who instructs its members to keep abuse and problems within the church and not go to “outsiders” but instead call the bishop (who never attends a formal seminary where they learn to counsel people) for help. It is the LDS church who lobbied hard state legislators so clergy wouldn’t have yo be mandated reporters in child abuse cases. This whole dysfunctional abusive situation falls squarely on the shoulders of the LDS church and that church needs to compensate its many, many victims.

The boy’s mother was hoodwinked by her, she pretended to simply be his teacher, having him over to “play w/ her son”, when in reality she was S.A. him, pregnant twice by this confused child. A man would have remained in prison for years under same circumstances but w/ girl becoming pregnant.

I don't even think that Jodi gave consent. Jodi gave her an opportunity. A nice isolated location, a mansion with a safe room. She could torture them whenever she felt like without any restraints. She didn't have to worry about people reporting her to CPS since she no longer had the channel and being business partners with Jodi allowed her to continue her facade of the loving mother despite being a psychopathic abuser. And Jodi validated her as well. She was probably the happiest at this point then she had ever been in her life until the arrest and her toys were taken away.

Separating couples was Jodi's thing. Jodi was very good at convincing both men and women that the man is poisoning the marriage. She convinced a LOT of couples of this. Maybe Kevin Franke was wanting out, maybe he was glad to leave. Maybe. But Jodi was very good at twisting people. She was good at making the MEN believe these things, not just the women.
With all the new evidence being released to the public by Washington County, there is a recorded phone call when Jodi says 1) chaining up R was a perfectly legitimate thing for a parent to do, there was nothing wrong with their actions in that regard. 2) she and Ruby did not injure R. He injured himself by struggling against his bonds. 3) she felt that being charged with child abuse was governmental over reach, meddling in a parent's right to raise their children as they see fit. She felt NO remorse. She felt everything she did was perfectly ok and that she was a martyr being persecuted. Jodi is off the rails insane.
Maybe Ruby thinks she did something wrong. If so, she is more remorseful than psycho Jodi. But Ruby seemed to get pleasure from seeing pain. In her diaries just recently released, she makes a little joke to herself that maybe the kids would get kicked by a horse. No pretext of demonic possession, she just thought them being hurt was funny. So she's pretty psycho in her own way.
I hope every time they come up before the parole board, the parole board is reminded of the severity of the abuse and given evidence that neither of them is safe to be allowed out. Remorse or no, they are a danger to the public.

Frankly, when they have the TH-cam channel, both parents employed unhealthy punishment, and seem to take great pride in doing so. This is well before they met Jodi. I agree with Dr Epright. What do we want to hear from criminal defendants? We say we want to see and hear genuine remorse but no matter what Ruby said at sentencing, the masses will never believe it’s genuine. Ruby accepted at least some responsibility and seemed remorseful (real or not) and it wasn’t enough. Jodi didn’t accept responsibility or seem remorseful and that certainly didn’t do her any favors. It’s really up to Ruby’s children whether they one day forgive her and accept her apology and remorse as genuine. My point is none of it jives in the court of public opinion. Only time will tell I guess. I’m not defending Ruby or giving her a pass. Nothing or no one could ever persuade me to abuse a child, especially my own. That’s the ultimate betrayal as children are truly a gift to be nurtured, treasured and cherished. She should and is going to prison. She has lost everything; her husband, her kids, and her name and reputation is forever tarnished. But we should all hope her time in prison rehabilitative. Just my thoughts.

Ruby’s family described how Uber competitive and attention seeking she has always been. I see an insane perfectionism in Ruby that her kids have to meet, but of course it’s impossible to meet because the rules are subjective and always changing based on mom’s mood -and dad follows suit. No one can ever measure up. I also wonder if Ruby didn’t have undiagnosed post-partum depression that exacerbated her horridly abusive parenting. And then once she met Jodi, Jodi’s psychopathy and abusive parenting ideas really allowed Ruby to run with her abuse.
I think both Ruby and Kevin were ill-equipped to parent. And they were over it. And Ruby becomes more dictatorial & controlling, and Kevin becomes isolated once Jodi is on the scene. But Kevin is also quite happy to live on his own, not have to deal with his kids, and workout and take photos of himself shirtless for his Instagram. There is so much disturbed mental illness underlying all three of their journeys that unfortunately played out to the detriment of these kids. And all the warnings and calls to police and CPS went unanswered.

When the police/prosecutors (I can’t remember who said each bit) have done interviews what they say about Kevin is ‘evidence shows he had no knowledge/contact’ (I’m paraphrasing) but then when they talk about Pam Bodtcher they say ‘there is no evidence to show she was at the Jodi’s home’ (I’m paraphrasing). These sort of statements indicate to me they have actual evidence showing Kevin is innocent of at least the chargeable abuse. However, with Pam I think their phrasing shows they believe Pam had knowledge about the most chargeable abuse but the police haven’t found evidence to back it up. Kevin eventually spoke to the police fully, Pam stopped talking to the police. Even just that shows who is more likely to have known of the abuse.

I completely agree she was putting on an act. She still never says how could I have done tgis to my babies. The duck story was completely inauthentic.

Well done. You may want to consider turning down the music; it is overwhelming and distracting.

I don't think prison changes the hearts of anyone. It is the thinking that has to change. No one will ever be able to make those clams a day after abused children are confiscated/saved.
Jodi is absolutely serious in her statement to the court. she believes her actions were in love to get them to absolute obedience.

It would be very interesting to know what the Forensic Neurologist would have thought if it had been Kevin Frankie who had done these things to the children and then gave that totally fake speech in front of the Judge. I would bet my last dollar that she would be ripping him a new one instead of believing Ruby was sincere.

Kevin was a professor, his students didn’t have nice things to say about him. I believe he was fired from the Morman college where he worked. And the way he treated his daughter Sherri was proof he’s not a very nice man. I just pray Rubye and Kevin’s children are never forced to have a relationship with them. Prayers for them🙏🏼

And as for that speech. What struck me is her children weren’t mentioned in her jail calls. It was all about her being misunderstood and, I quote, “poor Jodi”! She actually says that. It’s all bs. It’s similar to Chad and Lori. Two crazy people that meet and create a monster. It happens more and more due to how we are all connected. A comedian has a joke about back in the day if you liked to wear a diaper as an adult and walked out of the house like that then 2 guys would come club you over the head and take you to the hospital but now their are conventions of furries at the local holiday inn. I hope that makes sense lol.

And when her husband told her the two kids would be in the hospital for at least three days, she said it just wasn't necessary!! That got me more than anything else she said, besides NEVER asking about the welfare of her children. It boils my blood just typing this!! 🤬

Those two are only sorry they got caught.
Both have been abusive long prior to meeting each other.
R is a hero he and E could have ended up a " what went wrong story"
CPS and police KNEW several years ago there were allegations THEY DID NOTHING.
Their church thinks this behaviour was acceptable.
Religion NEEDS to be accountable for the abuse of children and the lack of access to information about other faiths and thinking DENYING people true equality as they do not know they do not need to be treated this way OR treat their children that way as it was done to.them.
Gen X kid so trust me I know strict and abusive.

This is why sometimes I think cases like this should never be tried in the state they were commited, they can be tried in another state but still under the same state law. It takes away the old boy system, the buddy system, or in this case, the religious buddy system.

i understand what she means, loved her opinion regardless of the hot take. Nothing would ever be good enough considering what she did, We'll always see it as bullshit lol great video you two.
Also about the part with Kevin, "how could he walk away and become subordinate?" Ruby and Jodi did this with multiple actions, like when they "invited" him to Ruby's emotional conversation about "Kevin being a pervert for lusting after his own wife." After that they stuck him into those group therapies with Jodi and other men after convincing him he was addicted to porn and needed to recover. Then all the men began to shun him when he wouldn't comply. They also sent him into a sort of solitary confinement. All of these things contributed to him wanting "normal back" and thus following whatever they asked. Plus we all know Jodi used her status as a therapist to convince people that not okay things, were okay. Anyone else notice how thin Kevin was? Wonder if he was also being made to fast.
