    I completely agree with Kanye. When someone is having a mental health crisis, a lot of friends/family will make it 100 times worse, thinking they are helping. I’ve struggled with depression in the past, and during really bad times family members would tell me about everything wrong with me, how I need to behave differently, improve, etc. Its no wonder the suicide rates are so high in this country. Our culture teaches us that someone suffering mentally needs to change their behavior, when in fact what would really help is simple comforting. These situations need to be about the person in distress, and helping them. Not telling them all the things they do that put them in that position.

If it doesn't keep you from functioning in your daily life, that's not mental illness. I wouldn't mind sharing my afflictions haha, cause at times having Borderline Personality Disorder + Major Depressive Disorder + PTSD aaand Hypersensitivity really is a lot to deal with... Not that I remember how I functioned before, because I've just gotten used to feeling...the way I feel. Did I mention my PTSD is reactivated on a regular basis because of what it revolves around? It is very hard sometimes. Being able to "label" what you suffer from does help feel less guilt and weirdness. It doesn't help solve the issues, but at least, you can tell yourself "it's not my fault" or "I didn't choose this". Life is more difficult to handle, people have no clue that you're struggling so much inside, and it drains a tremendous lot of energy, to try to function "normally".

      @@LuaBloe Thanks for your response. Often people term mental illness as being weak instead of seeing it for what it is; a sickness. When those suffering open up to them, they are quick to tell them that it's all in their head. Like I will willingly decide to wake up in the morning and lie in my bed crying all day? It's not my desire not to be happy but my brain doesn't know how to be.
      A lot of people are opening up about their struggles but no one seems to be listening. (Avicii's SOS comes to mind). This is the more reason why people continue to suffer from it. Recently I shared my mental struggles with someone and their response was; "I also feel sad, you just have to snap out of it, you have to make yourself happy". Saying this makes me feel like I'm the one doing it to myself. But what they don't know is; my own 'sadness' prevents me from doing all the things I want to do, I want to live but not like this.

    • @LuaBloe
      @LuaBloe 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes, quick to come up with pseudo advice like "You should.." "You just gotta.." Like it's that easy. What I want to say to people when they feel they understand the absence of control over emotions and feelings and thoughts, is that they just have no idea. I never suffered from racism for instance, so i don't know in my own self how it feels and hurts on so many levels. Some things you just experience in your head and whole being, and if you haven't, you cannot know the feeling.

    It makes me so sad to watch this now. When he talks about the way it's similar to people pressing on a person with a sprained ankle, it makes me think of all the press and exploitation of his manic episodes now. I don't mean to excuse any of the hatred he has spewed over the years, but I do wish people would recognize an unmedicated manic episode when they see one. And to recognize that sensationalizing, joking about, and inflating that behavior is drastically irresponsible when it is so publicly known that he struggles with this disorder. Interviewers like Alex Jones, Piers Morgan and Tucker Carlson taking Ye's manic rants as his genuine value system and philosophy, and using it for their own views and political gains without regard to integrity or his mental wellbeing. I wonder who would be here for him after the episode ends and he deflates again, when he becomes medicated again, when they can't capitalize on his mental illness anymore. I wonder if this ended in his su*cide, if people would recognize their role in spiraling a person further into their illness. If they would turn him into a martyr, and say "who could have known he was struggling like this?" as they find a new troubled celebrity to put under the microscope.

      @@Yulenka- That's incredibly true. His beliefs have never been morally good, per say, but that doesn't mean that people forming around him hoping to gain fame or political traction from his episodes are blameless. The people in his life, in combination with the probable lack of medication and treatment have clearly led him to spiral these past few years. There are a lot of people around him with the motive to enable his behavior. It gets them views. I think that mania has taken what might have been a republican with concern about injustices against black people (not necessarily a good person, but a person who could function and had some amount of moderation). It took that man, and added delusions, grandeur, distorted and exaggerated perceptions of reality, took his beliefs to an nth degree where he is a radicalized neonazi. But we as viewers can denounce his beliefs in a way that doesn't sensationalize him and put him in the spotlight even more, just in the way that these other celebrities and political figures can decide not to. I just think the way the situation is being handled is a little irresponsible, that's all. For instance, Alex Jones tried having him on his show to share about politics, and then decided to completely ignore obvious symptoms of a manic episode. Alex Jones gets the views and the spectacle that he wants, and it doesn't matter to him if he is further radicalizing a man who is not in his right mind. We just need to take into account that that is happening every day in Kanye's life. We need to step back, denounce the beliefs, and leave this man to work out his issues in private.

    Bipolar Disorder Poem:
    "'Behind my smile is a breaking heart.
    Behind my laugh I'm falling apart.
    Behind my eyes are tears at night.
    Behind my body is a soul trying to fight.'
    " These are warriors fighting everyday. We need to do more as a country to supper them."
    Finally acknowledged my mental wellness journey yesterday and my goodness... this really hits home for me.
    To relieve myself of the stigma external pressures have implanted into my pysche, I've been invoking the Hawaiian Ho'opono'pono prayer for my younger self/inner child:
    ☯ 'I am sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you. I Love you.'
    It's not my fault that I have these seasonal imbalances. And there's actually so much beauty I've been able to discover in the world because of it. I am such a more sensitive and conscious observer of my experience now. I know how deep my emotions can run - deep like the Grand Canyon. And I now know how high I can fly - not even SpaceX rockets can reach my most high. There's a whole color spectrum that goes from the deepest wine purples to the brightest iridescent, golden whites. I am friends with my shadow and I love her dearly. One of my greatest teachers, I love my Bipolar Disorder. No one can nurture and soothe me better than I can. (: I AM a powerful Healer.

    I don't follow Kim or her family in the news or social media, but I like seeing that she's a good influence on him, strives to stand by him, hasn't been the same person since that traumatic robbery, and has so many beautiful blessings (children). I pray she continues to do good.

      limited access I'm a Christian myself, and it's really uncharitable of you to call the family witches. I agree, their family probably commits a lot of sin, I'm not sure, I don't follow them. But everyone sins a bit too, we all do. Thing is, we need to pray for wayward souls to get into heaven. That should be your concern as a Christian. God bless.

    What really sucks is how we, the public, handled this situation. Kanye will go off an rants saying he was Yezzus and would have a comparison to himself with a higher power (feeling like you’re invincible or a higher power is a common symptom of a manic episode) and we just laughed. Even when we were able to see when his mania peaked at an all time high and had to be hospitalized, we were still ignorant towards it. Being bipolar, I’m glad kanye was able to speak about this issue. It makes my mind a bit calmer

The injustice/unfairness stream in your head, making you left with being hopless and helpless. The 2 evils. Doing what you love does help, holding it is the worst. im 38 male. I had my first manic episode July 2018. I was court ordered to a behavior health clinic and had to stay until i started taking 900mg of lithium. Thats all i take.thankfully. I gave in and started taking them. 10 months later I feel very " flat.'' i can get happy for 30 seconds and then i go back my dull feelings. I over think on negitive thoughts....WHYYYYY? im a happy guy with a great life. I hate it. I want to slowly ween off of Lithium. because in late August 2019 this year, I will be meeting lots of family from out of town and i want to feel the Joy I once had. I have accomplished so much. very successful. I Used to be very witty. i still can be but it makes me not want to talk as much. Who has quit Lithium for a long time? a short time? my Doctor said I could, but he recommends i stay on it. what withdraws did you have how long did it take to tapper down to quitting?
    Also Im new to "manic/mania". I hear some that like it and cant wait till it comes again...... really? i thought each time we have a manic episode, it gets worse and worse each time. yes? no? Who takes Lithium and still has mania? I was somewhat delusional. barely able to control myself. and then it kicked in entirely and i had no control. My Doctor said im 38 and ive coped without meds since so i shouldnt dwell on wondering when my next one will happen because im not prone to them like others who can have them monthly. and its true I think about when i will go mania again. at least once or twice a day. It scares me because i dont want to hurt myself again. I ran threw the desert, I had lots of cactus on me.:( in the moment it didnt hurt.) To all my Bi polar people, I love you and your in my deepest prayers. Isaiah 33:24

    • @porkfriedrice1530
      @porkfriedrice1530 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Create a moment where one mood swing comes up, such as changing their mind for a date, as one example, particularly that will present itself again so NEXT time the decision is his you can react similarly and make it obvious to the both of you that he is regularly being enthusiastic for something then losing interest. Now you have that moment you can use as reference when talking mental health. Try maybe bringing up your own anxieties or sleep issues to put yourself in a more vulnerable position so he feels safe to open up when the topic is presented. Most people are embarrassed of their mental health, or won’t admit to themselves they might have an issue so try not to make it seem like you’re upset or judgmental about it... good luck

    This is sad to watch now, he’s currently in a manic state again and unfortunately gaining a lot of negative attention. He clearly suffers from grandeur and persecutional delusions..no proper judgement, flight of ideas, he’s just all over the place. I hope he can get the help he needs and seriously reconsider giving meds a try, since he said he gave up on them and doesn’t want it to affect his artistry.
    Learning to accept your mental health disorder and introduce a medication regimen can be difficult. I struggled with this for many years after I was first diagnosed with my disorder and began treatment, I was afraid of who I’d become as a result of taking my new meds, or what “normal” was actually supposed to be like. It took time, but I never look back now. Ultimately you have to realize that your disorder doesn't define your entirety, you are only what you make of it. If you’re given management options with use of medication and purposely choose against it, then it simply means you lose out on knowing what could have been. Could have been a more happier version of yourself, or reached your maximum potential for success, or other qualities that had been there inside you all along but was just out of reach. That's how it was for me, I had no idea. And that’s okay. Because the medication doesn't take all the credit for that capability, it just helps you get there. There’s no shame in needing to take something to help you bridge that gap in order for you to flourish. I wish Kanye and his family the best, I know he would be a creative individual/artist regardless.
