New board looks sick bro. Looks light under your feet. Looks zippy and whippy if that makes sense lol. Can't wait to hear the review, I was looking at the xero gravity then the bloody white tiger popped its head up now I'm thinking that board. Stay safe bro
Cheers fella, it’s a very fun board! Zippy and whippy is right. You can kinda put it where you want it, I love it. Hahah I was looking at the white tiger too! Looks super nice, similar shape to the Phoenix. Would love to get a few waves on one for sure! 🤘🏻
Hey mate, my usual dms would be like 6’0 33l for a short board. This I went 5’9 and 35.3l and it feels right for me. I love the board, it’s super fast. Check out the JS flame fish too 🤙🏻🤙🏻

Hi Josh ? As a fan of the Phoenix I’ve been looking at this board to replace my good old faithful … I recently bought and sold the lost rnf 96 That was a mistake I wish not to do again $$$ You go good on the subxero from what I can see ✅ I’ve gotten to the point where I ride my phoenix as a twin The subzero may just fit the bill Are there any things you don’t like about the board ?
Hey Paul! Thanks for reaching out mate. I love the board! It’s super fast and responsive. It’s wild and tame at the same time. Nothing so far that I don’t like about it. On a side note have you seen the new JS Flame Fish? Man, I’m keen AF for that thing.
@@joshtraceysurfing Thanx for your thoughts Much appreciated. I had that board under my arm At the shop today It felt good 👍 I haven’t heard of that board ??? BUT … will be scrolling the net in about 10 seconds Bye😁
I haven’t ridden the PU but you can feel the extra float from the HYFI but it’s good! Especially if you’re surfing the small stuff. I didn’t downsize in liters to compensate for HYFI and had no issues
@@joshtraceysurfing Thank you brother. I surf with a Monsta 2020 PU 5´11 27.8L and I was looking for a xero gravity hyfi2 to be able to surf conditions not so good for monsta. But in doubt if I would get 5.9 with 27L or 27.8L
@@eduardoreis9319 no worries mate. Nah you’d need to drop way down to be at that volume. Like 5’5 to 5’6. That being said it should be ridden a litre or two more volume than your short board. JS has a volume calculator that will tell you your perfect size board! 🤙🏻🤙🏻
Robbo! Don’t do it to me mate haha! It’s tough because they do surf very differently but are both designed to do the same thing. The JS is better so far in really small stuff, I surfed it in 1ft slop and it went off, generated speed effortlessly. If I’m honest, for the time being it’s replacing the Phoenix in anything under 2-3ft. This actually makes me very curious to try the Phoenix in EPS and ride it more as a 2+1 fin set up. Short answer I think there is room for both.
Haha! Thanks for such a quick and detailed answer. I dream of getting as much water time as you do. Since I moved inland, got older and even less fit, the prospect of expanding my quiver is a non-starter. I've been looking at the phoenix and I've really enjoyed your videos to see what conditions you surf it in. I'm interested in the sub xero as I'm mostly only getting to surf a handful of times and mostly in smaller summer surf. Maybe a eps phoenix might be the best one board quiver (downsizing from my current three 😅)
@@robbo8137 thanks so much Robbo. I’m glad that how fast the board is, is transferring to film. I’m so amazed at how easy it generates speed even in small sloppy waves. It really is zippy
@@robbo8137 thanks mate I appreciate that a lot. I hope I give some stoke to all the part time surfer dads out there haha. The Phoenix is a super forgiving surfboard, maybe give it a crack. The eps will give it some more float and pop. I don’t think you’ll regret it.
Nice Josh, the board performs well in those little waves, loose and fast down the line. Can't wait to see how it performs in 3 to 5 foot beach break!
Thanks Billy, I’m stoked on it. I can’t wait either! It’s so fast in the small stuff
