  • Eisenberg's Sandwich Shop located at 5th Ave. & 22 Street in NYC opened in 1929 and hasn't changed at all. Same stools, same signs, perhaps by now a new waitress or two, but I'm sure there are plenty of grizzled veterans. And best of all, same great food. This place is a living landmark! Come by for a taste of the real old NYC. Music from incompetech.com.

So great🎉 I read an article in the New Yorker, and tried to search this video. It is exactly what the editor has depicted😊

Sounds like it went down hill. I used to eat there and it was great.

I just left Eisenberg’s. WORST pastrami sandwich I've EVER had.
I could have gotten better at the local corner deli shop.
The place was dirty, and who ... WHO can mess up potato salad??
Maybe the Mexican mafia owns it now... surly young Mexican guys kept asking me how the food was in a way that made me wonder if they'd spit in it.
The meat was over cooked leftovers-- dried out and tasteless.
I tried dumping Sriracha hot sauce, salt, and mustard on the potato salad but it was still an unusual kind of bland.
You have to know NOTHING about food to like this place.
You get what you pay for. Next time I'll try Katz's, Carnegie Deli, or John’s on Bleecker Street in West Village.
BEWARE OF THE HYPE ... AVOID THIS DUMP.
THERE'S A REASON THERE'S SO FEW PEOPLE INSIDE.
