    That custom is looking really nice.
    The Final Faction line has some pretty neat figures in the it. Especially for customizing at a low price.
    The holes in the figure are usually for interchangeable accessories in accessory packs. But using them to hold in wires or tubing is a pretty neat way to use them too.
    I’m curious to see if you could customize the aliens in the Final Faction line too. As the sculpting on the aliens can get really nice looking, maybe even to paint. And maybe even the accessory packs for them, as the alien accessories can get pretty interesting.

    Excellent job in repainting the Final Faction ACRM figure. I actually really like this dollar store figure line. I’ve collected the whole set except for the ACRM. For whatever reason that particular figure is extremely rare where I live. I just can’t seem to find him. Anyways, enough about that, I really like what you did to the figure! Nice repaint, you added some much needed depth to a really cheap toy and made it look 1k times better. You didn't mention it, but I caught you wiping down the figure after appling the Nuln oil. Some users just slather it on and leave it, which is fine if thats the look you're going for. In most cases you just want to darken the recesses, not coat the entire thing in a layer of paint. By wiping the excess off the model's raised areas you increase the contrast between the different levels and gives a better sense of depth/realism. (Just my 2 cents worth).
    Thanks for the video, I will have to look into getting a few of these figures. They seem like great opportunities for kitbashing and custom figure making. Great stuff, thanks for sharing, and keep on keeping on!!

    • @DRToysCreations
      @DRToysCreations  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      So for me the first step is start cheap! 😃 Thrift Store action figures, garage sales and the Final faction are a great place to start. Messing around with head swaps is always fun. I do a ton of my painting with rattle can spray paint then I do the detail work with model paint. It also helps to prime the toy before you paint it. Again I normally use a spray can primer from Home Depot (nothing fancy). I personally like to use acrylic vs enamel just because clean up is easier... This is where it can start to get a little pricy... I use Citadel or Tamiya model paint for the detailed work. You can use cheap craft paint but it normally doesn't cover that great and can be frustrating. The biggest thing to remember is if you screw up and your using a .50 cent toy that you found at a yard sale it no big deal. each time you make you will learn from your mistakes and hopefully get a little better each time. I learn something on every project and screw up all the time! 😂
      Hope that helps some!

    • @archangel5627
      @archangel5627 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DRToysCreations Thank you so much for answering my questions. I guess the next step for me is to buy some spray paint primer and sold spray paint along with a nice set of acrylic paints and brushes. Like I said before, I really like the Final Faction toyline and even though the paint job on the figures is fine, they really could use some extra detail work. Again, I really appreciate you sharing that info with me and I’ll definitely come back to check out your other projects on your channel! Take care! Cheers!

    This looks great but the holes were for weapons that came separately. The droid actually looks even more awesome with the guns in the arms and the flight pack on its back. The holes in the arms have to be widened for the guns and the leg thrusters do not fit properly anyway, so your wire idea looks much better than they do. I bet your paint would have looked great on the thrusters and guns.

      I really like your paint job. What type of paints do you use? If you use acrylics, how do you get them to stick to the plastic? I am used to painting 28mm figures in lead and plastic and I usually prime them with a low cost gray or flat white spray paint. I also spray an acrylic sealer coat after painting the figure in the colors I want and then apply one or more washes of thinned black or brown paint and dry brush the highlights before applying the final coat of sealer. Would this work with these figures? I have made some paper models of synthosium blocks for displaying with my Kharn figures. Would you be interested in having some?

      I have the same problem, sometimes I will let it sit for like two days and it's still tacky (this is normally with enamel paint)... I normally hit it wit a quick coat of clear varnish from a spray paint can. That usually does the trick for me.
      Acrylic paint doesn't have that problem.
