Dollar Tree has greatly expanded their arts and crafts section, they actually sell individual acrylic paints now! Also small canvases, wood, brushes, etc. I would love to send a selection to you Jazza and see how much better they are... Or if they even are better. Also, you need a name brand Twinkie. 😂
I love how Jazza not only supports other creators in the community but other aspiring artists. It’s just so refreshing to see his positivity and sincerity. I’ve followed Jazza for years, but it always is so refreshing.
The "dollar tree" drawing is even funnier when you realise he's Australian, and our dollars don't look like that. In all seriousness, Jazza did a great job with this!
That was really encouraging to hear you talk about the paints like that. For a long time the cheap tubes of paint & brushes was all I could afford but gave up for a while coz while it looked good, it wasn't great especially on canvas board. I'd wondered why I didn't want to create since everyone loved my pictures but I wouldn't be surprised if this has been a factor.
That Dollar Tree is such a tongue-in-cheek meta thing that I absolutely love, but visually? I am absolutely IN LOVE with your drawing of the Art Master! So much character and personality in it, and working with the materials than against it really lets it pop! Thanks so much for making this video!
This still shows how some creativity and practice can let you still make some really cool art with cheap materials. I’d kill to see you revisit water based markers one day, but trying using a waterbrush as a blender. Also don’t use felt tip water based markers, go for ones like Crayola that have a sponge tip, because the felt tips are way more rough on paper than the sponge tips.
The mixing, blending and combination of items was really cool to see. Im always amazed and excited when i see these kinds of videos. I also really liked the dollar tree. It took a lot of effort on your end, but i like the end result. The takeaway i got from this video is that its the person/artist that make great art, but good tools will allow for more expression and creativity if you know what your doing.
that line "I'm a Honeybun fan!" sounds like there was an entire story of Jazza being skeptical of the Honeybun and then slowly coming to realize he actually enjoys it that was cut from this video.
I like getting the cheap stuff, because 90% of the things I work on are prototyping. _My favorite thing there is the giant sheets of project board, I can prototype wood furniture with that stuff using a little tape and origami magic._ When I get to making a final product then I spend the budget.
I’m bouncing around your channel. Several years back. Couple months. A week. I’ve learned some really helpful information. Then to see DaVinci Resolve pop up. I work for Blackmagic Design and always love seeing us in videos. So glad we sponsored some of your episodes.
I love the fact that you spend time using everything that you were sent and that shows you love art and to make art no matter the time spent. I love that passion and I wish I could have that patience and passion without getting distracted i could probably make so much and have my art look so much better with time.
Those turned out so cool! I go to Dollar Tree pretty frequently and I always stop by their art section and think about what I could do with what's there. I like the idea here of doing that and having some fun! Great job to you both and great idea for the challenge!
Mei Yu has done some amazing stuff with all kinds of cheap art supplies, going years back. I think she has a great attitude about art being an accessible pursuit despite budget restrictions. As a kid, I used every scrap of paper and every writing implement I could get my hands on, and despite having had the chance to work with other media, to this day I still prefer good old pencils and pens over anything else.
Budget goes out the window as soon as you enter the store. Haven't seen some of these yet at my store but have used the small canvases for painting. Love the end pieces. Nicely done.
I work at dollar tree! Dollar Tree is an amazing place to find cheap supplies for anything from wood work to knitting. And it’s obviously insanely cheap, just a dollar yknow?
One of my favorite things at dollar tree is the scultpy clay that they have. And the poster board is the best to use for spray paint space paintings :)
Omgosh i haven't even finished watching and am soo excited for this!! Woot woot Jazza take a break from 7,000$ on markers and enjoy this side of cheap art supplies❤❤❤
Ahhhh Dollar Store art supplies. There is a huge hit or miss with these items sometimes. My fav is when they sometimes carry name brand items! It’s rare but a plus if you can find them.
I think videos like this kind of inspire me, because when I grew up this was a majority the best option for my family, and yeah I had to really push myself to improve with the cheaper materials. Not everyone could see the value but through the years I eventually could afford better art supplies and it shows that even if the young artist is poor that can defy their odds and create amazing works that will hopefully pull them out of the position of poverty. This is awesome thank y'all for doing this.
Just a tip for the future when drawing POC characters (particularly dark-skinned ones): the palms of the hands should typically be a lighter tint than the rest of the skin, even when in shadow. I realize it might have been a stylistic choice, but I don’t think it would have been too out of place with the style that you did, and it’s a good practice to model for white artists without much experience making art of POCs.
I’d love to see you tackle the same artwork with 3 different budgets - so the same illustration but first with dollar store art supplies, then mid-range and finally high-end supplies. What do you think? Similar to your timed challenges
Jazza, you're an absolute pleasure to watch, huge inspiration to lean into, and just all round joy to experience. Thank you for getting me into arts again seriously. Stay wonderful always! - Yvie 🖼️🎨🖌️🖍️💕✨
Jazza! You should do more videos where you sculpt or 3D print your old sketches and make dioramas. Much like the one you did the post apocalyptic couple. That was way cool man! 😅👍
I think one of the best things about art is that the supplies dont really matter, rather its cheap or expensive you can make a masterpiece that fits your budget
the best advice I've heard from artists is use decent supplies or you'll think you're doing something wrong. I love seeing someone of your caliber making decent art out of lemons to lemonade?
Omg yay Rae collaboration! I love Rae! It's so funny I saw both of your dollar there tree art videos in my feed and I was really excited to watch both.... I had no idea it was a collaboration. I'm super stoked. I just happened to click on yours 1st but I will definitely watch hers next.
Sometimes, the Dollar Store gets some surprisingly good stuff. Here in Canada, the Dollarama store I go to recently received some big 473ml jars of acrylic paint for 4$ each. I got a bunch just to see and it turns out the paint in them has about the same consistency as soft ice cream. They also got some big canvases that just need a bit of extra tightening with wedges. Pretty good for the price.
I love that Jazza is giving smaller channels a chance to collaborate. I love being introduced to new artists and it really increases my respect for Jazza.
Hi Jazza and SuperRaeDizzle! Dollar Store Art is my specialty, since I only use Dollar Store supplies for my daily Bob Ross landscapes! You're right that the Dollar Store acrylic isn't the best, but it can be fun working within those limitations. While following along with Bob, I've had to adjust the wet on wet Oil paint techniques to those Acrylic paints. I recommend working with those paints as thick as you can, and tapping more than brushing on the color.
today someone commented i should delete all videos :( people can be so mean. but i dont care. i know im the best. i never give up. i am age 80+ and will never stop. thanks for caring, dear
I usally get my art supplies from the dollar store mostly because we don’t have art stores here but I love watching pros being able to make good art with cheep art supplies it makes me feel better as a artist
Jazza in his 2$ video: you can use cheap art supplies and still be creative with them! Jazza now: oh no, these cheap paints are bad, you can't make art with that
It's interesting how much you can get out of cheap art supplies when making an illustration, while painting with cheaper stuff can get frustrating and make you think you're messing up
“It requires a lot more skill to paint with these really cheap paints” Ok, we see you Jazza. Having the skills to do such things like this 🙄🤚 (I loved both of the art pieces btw!)
For people who don’t have money, dollar tree supplies may be all they can afford. Don’t let anyone tell you you need expensive tools to be an artist. Being an artist is what you do, not the cash you spend. I’ve seen better art done by a man in the mall with a no. 2 pencil and a sheet of printer paper than a guy using oil paints and canvas worth hundreds.
I've wondered how many people have tried art using spectacularly bad art supplies and decided art is miserable or they just suck without realizing that crappy supplies are often worse than no supplies. It's sad...
That’s still a wrong assumption, because as soon as you’ve developed a good taste in art from observation you’ll have trouble accepting your low learning curve. The fact that you haven’t yet learned or fully understood all the basics like anatomy, line strength, composition, color theory, etc. is the actual main problem, not the tools you use. A picture that is flawed from the start due to lack of knowledge will still be flawed even with the best supplies. Everybody can make art - but making good art takes a lot of devotion towards learning. I myself retired as an illustrator since the gap between taste and knowledge had just become too large to statisfy my mind.
This was cool! Dollar tree has actual acrylic and tempura paint in bottles too! They may not have been in the dollar tree Rae went to, but they’re surprisingly not the worst for being dollar store grade. My mom uses them for her paint pours and they come out surprisingly lovely. She’s started using higher grade paint WITH them now and they look even better but, overall I was actually surprised when I saw the first couple ones she did.
Only one thing that I can nitpick with the art-girl bubblegum piece is, that everyone has white palms. Your darker skin won't match up with your palms.
@ 8:14 you can see the markers. It looks like he used the lighter shade and then he went back in to add shadows. I don't know if he just messed up, if it was an over sight or a style choice. Jazza has never colored palms different tones than the rest of the body- doesn't matter the skin color. You can see it on videos from 7 years back too.
@@kika-pon6128 every established stylized art i've seen never even make the palms light, it will look weird imo Art doesn't have to be 100% accurate, sometimes if the only thing you chase is accuracy you end up with ugly art
Okay, a few things. Absolutely love the results. But um....Jazza, buddy, why is the palm of the artist the same colour as the rest of her body? That is not how palms work. I know there were colour limitations but your could have used a lighter marker and then applied the correct colour with the pencil. Just a teeny thing that bugs me. Also, two of my fav art youtubers coming together in a collab. You peeps should do this more often! What a treat. Lastely, could you review Camlin art supplies please? I have heard they are darn cheap but pretty good.

I would love to send a selection to you Jazza and see how much better they are... Or if they even are better.
Also, you need a name brand Twinkie. 😂
As a beginner;the art supplies from there are great,as I don't fret over wasting expensive supplies.
I love how Jazza not only supports other creators in the community but other aspiring artists. It’s just so refreshing to see his positivity and sincerity. I’ve followed Jazza for years, but it always is so refreshing.
As a budget artist I appreciate you showing off what is possible even with dirt cheap supplies!
The "dollar tree" drawing is even funnier when you realise he's Australian, and our dollars don't look like that.
In all seriousness, Jazza did a great job with this!
Just Googled your guy's money, it looks awesome. Maybe he did a $100
The painting? I assume he was doing an American dollar because it's from an American store.
I will donate 50 cent to Orphan of every subscriber I get from comment.

I love that you explained what techniques you can use to make the art better. It helps to learn and properly understand what’s going on.
I loved the second drawing, the markers blended a lot smoother than I thought they would
That was really encouraging to hear you talk about the paints like that.
Jazza: These are terrible!
*proceeds to draw a masterpiece that I could only dream of*
"takes skill to make something decent"
me: wow I thought that was amazing actually
The mixing, blending and combination of items was really cool to see. Im always amazed and excited when i see these kinds of videos.
I also really liked the dollar tree. It took a lot of effort on your end, but i like the end result.
The takeaway i got from this video is that its the person/artist that make great art, but good tools will allow for more expression and creativity if you know what your doing.
that line "I'm a Honeybun fan!" sounds like there was an entire story of Jazza being skeptical of the Honeybun and then slowly coming to realize he actually enjoys it that was cut from this video.
i was looking through the comments trying to find one that mentioned that moment
I like getting the cheap stuff, because 90% of the things I work on are prototyping.
_My favorite thing there is the giant sheets of project board, I can prototype wood furniture with that stuff using a little tape and origami magic._
When I get to making a final product then I spend the budget.
I’m bouncing around your channel. Several years back. Couple months. A week. I’ve learned some really helpful information.
Then to see DaVinci Resolve pop up. I work for Blackmagic Design and always love seeing us in videos. So glad we sponsored some of your episodes.
Yesssssss, I absolutely love Rae! I'm so glad you did a collab with her! Love to see more ❤
I love the fact that you spend time using everything that you were sent and that shows you love art and to make art no matter the time spent.
Snowy mountains seems to be a go-to for your painting, would like to see you tackle a landscape with more of a flat horizon next

*generic 'witty' comment bashing you for using "Nobody: Literally Nobody:"*
Tbh the art looks pretty good. An artist is only limited by their imagination and determination
I work at dollar tree! Dollar Tree is an amazing place to find cheap supplies for anything from wood work to knitting.
And it’s obviously insanely cheap, just a dollar yknow?
Lol I work at dollar tree too! I love buying the canvases
I love how he used the packaging as a mixing palette and then moved on to use one of the canvases.
Hello fellow My Hero Academia fan 👁👄👁
@@unseasoned.drawings Hello, hello. 😊
Everyday Jazza's look seems to evolve and he gets even more handsome, his wife is a lucky girl.
Right?! I have such a crush. 😻

That may have been the limitations of the supplies. I don’t think he was able to lighten anything once it was put down.
Thanks for the reminder ^_^
In this case I highly doubt he even had a secondary skin tone to work with.
i was just gonna say this! thank you.
@@shadowbunny7892 , OP was just saying for Jazza next time and others on their own art
For about three months every year I go through a phase of watching just Jazza. Honestly lovely
When jazza makes all Art Supplies look good
I think one of the best things about art is that the supplies dont really matter, rather its cheap or expensive you can make a masterpiece that fits your budget
the best advice I've heard from artists is use decent supplies or you'll think you're doing something wrong. I love seeing someone of your caliber making decent art out of lemons to lemonade?
Love that illustration of the women! She’s so interesting and dynamic to look at!
You inspired me to draw. Just picked up my supplies the other day. Thank you
Omg yay Rae collaboration!
My favourite pencils and sketchbook come a dollar store. The only problem was they stopped making the sketchbook
I love that Jazza is giving smaller channels a chance to collaborate. I love being introduced to new artists and it really increases my respect for Jazza.
Bro, the American accent was gooooood! 👌🤯
I never thought this was possible... I'm actually early for once!!
today someone commented i should delete all videos :( people can be so mean. but i dont care. i know im the best. i never give up. i am age 80+ and will never stop. thanks for caring, dear
@@AxxLAfriku wtf

Same! :)
I usally get my art supplies from the dollar store mostly because we don’t have art stores here but I love watching pros being able to make good art with cheep art supplies it makes me feel better as a artist
This was rad. Reminding me that any supplies are art supplies.
I love your enthusiasm Jazza!!!
Jazza in his 2$ video: you can use cheap art supplies and still be creative with them!
Jazza now: oh no, these cheap paints are bad, you can't make art with that
It's interesting how much you can get out of cheap art supplies when making an illustration, while painting with cheaper stuff can get frustrating and make you think you're messing up
Yeah? Their not meant for art they're made for toddlers to throw around on a cheap canvas rather than real art
Also you replied to your own comment
I love the quality of their art products thanks for the introduction your dollar tree supply drawings are beautiful 😲
“It requires a lot more skill to paint with these really cheap paints” Ok, we see you Jazza. Having the skills to do such things like this 🙄🤚 (I loved both of the art pieces btw!)
Haven't even watched a full minute but I already love this collab! 2 of my favourite art TH-camrs collabbing can only be great!
You nailed it Jazza they both look amazing....I am glad you share your experiences with us...love you too Rae ❤🙌
It might be interesting to see what you can do making your own art supplies from nature. Like being a caveman recreating cave art.
There's a guy who does something similar, but with pottery and glazes... It's kinda cool :^3
I just adore your videos and art. All drawings are positive, bright, they give good mood and esthetic pleasure, thank you for sharing!
I came to say this. Ngl it hurt to see.
@ 8:14 you can see the markers. It looks like he used the lighter shade and then he went back in to add shadows. I don't know if he just messed up, if it was an over sight or a style choice. Jazza has never colored palms different tones than the rest of the body- doesn't matter the skin color. You can see it on videos from 7 years back too.
its stylized, most artist even black artist on youtube with similar styles don't color in the palms differently.
Yeah, he shouldn't've made her palms so dark
@@kika-pon6128 every established stylized art i've seen never even make the palms light, it will look weird imo
Art doesn't have to be 100% accurate, sometimes if the only thing you chase is accuracy you end up with ugly art
Yeah ! Rae and Jazza are my top favorite channels when it comes to art
Woohoo o o oooooo o o oooooo oooooo o o
You good, bud?
Nice you’re first
Fuck who
@@simonhanna3679 hi
Omg yes! A collab and my 2 fav artists! You guys are outstandingly talented!
Loved what Rae did & how you’ve shown you can have fun with cheap!
THAT IS AWESOME!!! I've been watching your videos for a few years on various accounts and your such a big inspiration! I love your art and your channel.❤️
I love them both!! You make me realise that you don't always need a lot of money to make great art ♥
Thats what i like about cheap art supplies it makes you think it makes you try new things and i feel like it makes you better cus you know how to make something work even if its not the best art supplies
More Rae and Jazza collabs!! My 2 fav art tubers!!
Great collab! It’s cool to see the way you were able to use the supplies you were provided. Loved the video 🥰
I’m so glad Rae linked your channel bc you’re art work is really good and so is Rae’s
Jazza. I need more puppet jazza in my life. I saw him in the background there for a second. Give me more!!!
OMG that's the same exact easel I have!!!, I'm just so happy about me sharing at least one art tool with such a great artist ✨
6:00 I love it! 11:30 The portrait is amazing! 😍
The dollar tree has to be one of my favorite art pieces honestly. It has a lot of deeper thought you can put into it if you want to
I didn't expect you to use the paint more like Gouache. I love the end result. 😊
The pencil and marker drawing is brilliant too! 😁
That came out top notch for the dollar tree materials! I'm NOWHERE near a pro, just a life long hobbyist and I've used cheap stuff for years. Better than anything I've been able to do!
Love your videos, makes me smile during rough times. You are appreciated jazza!
This is a really great video it shows you that even though the supplies and is up to par is what you want you can still have fun and be creative with what you're given.
I happen to like those little paint pots. They dry fast and do well for highlights. They also mix well with other paints.
That dollar tree made me chuckle. I was expecting an epic dragon or something, and this was not what I expected.😂😂😂
The artist drawing is legit amazing. Watching you draw the background made me really want to draw something with coloured pencils for a change. Great collab!
RAEEEEE I love her challenges, been wanting you to try them for a while
I was watching you at SuperRaeDizzle collab. It's great to see some lovely paintings from both of you guys. Stay cool and happy.
I am so happy that Jazza is not the only one who uses the end of a paintbrush to mix paint.
I’ve bought cheap supplies from Dollar Tree and stores like it. Sometimes they’re surprisingly okay, at least for fun projects.
Ooh, I saw Tastykakes! 🤩 One of our yummier treats here in the US 😊
