It is all about performance and presentation. Does not matter if one know how it works.
I also guess there is consensus about almost nobody considers paranormal activity in that shows 🙂

I remember watching this episode sometime in the late 90s. Awesome way to confuse the heck out of people. I still love how 99% of stage magic is really just engineering.
You CAN'T have watched this in the late 90s, since the show started in the early 2000s, with this episode running around 08/09!

These "reveals" are fascinating; I'm much, much more impressed with the magicians and assistants "knowing" their secrets.
It is the best tv show I have ever seen. The entire aura created by the masked magician is so mysterious and fascinating. The music is outstanding. And, ladies and gentlemen, the assistants are so cute.
This is still amazing. Especially the design to allow the hoop go around

The pylon is covered in the same sort of material as the magician's pants. If you were to zoom in you could see it. I think this is an edit that does not include that detail.
