It’s not about how the trick is done, it’s about believability. It is a true art having to make things seem less and use slight of hand precisely to wow your audience 👍
The same cant be said for the swords right? Since theyre not inflatable. What do they do to those props?
They actually do "swallow" them. You basically need to train yourself to get rid of your gag reflex, and, ironically enough, avoid swallowing as it could lead to serious damage (look up "sword swallowing" on wikipedia). It's not an illusion, so much as just a very impressive (and dangerous) performance.
