This video really exemplifies how usually stabbing people in the back with an olive garden breadstick makes them not feel good anymore. I just wish bs whiffs (breadstick whiffs) could be free aimed like in Olive Garden 3, because hot diggity damn it's so sad seeing your character eat an entire plate of lasagna after trying to watch their calories and only take a few breadsticks.

They're so easy to punish, yet so fun to play. I love sythe so much and they did it so wrong my poor thing... No real Hyper Armor, not that fast, not that much range, not much damage, odd angle attacks. If at least had the hyper armor of Greatsword u.u'

Man, I'm so bad at backstabs, but I'm really good at going into the middle of obvious gankers, spamming endure, and then trying to melt everyone. Thank you for this.
I fought him when he was making these clips. I was a 2H halberd with bfb and the combat ended on a stalemate where he killed me first but I Hail Mary’d with a phantom slash and got him when I was dead.
If you read this, do you have any tips for someone trying to improve?

As far as tips, idk what you feel like you really need to work on, but i think the most important things are just to be working on your spacing, roll discipline, and understanding your priority. I have a full vid on spacing that you might find has some useful info

What are input on the controller to perform a reverse quickstep? I mean when u quickly turn 180° and press O (ps4) to do a backstep, i miss how i can turn 180° so fast

I have a question.... Which one is better to counter mages Beast's roar vs Storm blade?? Excluding range, is any one them's initial casting is faster than the other to better catch mage casts??
Isnt beast roar/storm blade spam just a physical mage? Beast roar is less telegraphed and bounces off walls. Storm blade has better spam
Probably...But spam is what I need😂😂..I am playing co-op mod with my friends with friendly damage always on and everyone of us is spamming anything spammable to kill each other... We have killed each other more than the enemies we have killed in the game and anything goes moonveil+stars of ruin+swift shard, BHS+Greatsword, double spear, mage with BHS etc etc...I am searching for an long range ash that is really good against my spammer mage friends...@@Rust_BKT

You do a roll and then immediately do an R. Backstap.

No, i really dont. I cut part of the malding segment out where i talked about endure backstabs and perfect blocks, but basically, i feel the same about those as i do quickstep. With perfect block, you abuse an IPE to tank a hit and tends to cause some desync as a result. Its like endure, except you cant predict or punish it

What exactly am I supposed to do to properly exit the sprinting while blocking?
Like do I just let go of sprint first and then wait a moment to let go of block?

Not sure I understand the difference/distinction between a strafe BS and a pivot BS, would you be able to elaborate on that a bit more? thanks
Pivot is the action of turning on the spot, where a strafe is just the act of maneuvering and a hitbox. They are distinct in that a pivot doesnt require a strafe and a strafe doesnt reauire a pivot

What's the best weapon to practice backstab fishing? Dagger?
Sorta. Medium weapons technically have a shorter recovery on the wiff animation, but misericorde always does more damage

@@Rust_BKT I've heard that the Rapier can actually do more damage than the misericorde. Does that count as a medium weapon? Because it might be best for fishinh.
no, misericorde always does more. against large type pve enemies, its different, in which case executioner axe does the most damage, but not in pvp@@SoI_Badguy

@@Rust_BKT Does this work on Colossal weapons? I've been using Colossals for crits since there is a good synergy with the Crimson Assassin talisman, but whiffing a backstab with any 2-hit backstab weapon is basically a death penalty since the recovery time is so much more prolonged than a 1-hit backstab weapon... Anyways, looking forward to that tech vid!

i mena, tht's not "completely unnecessary" if you're using quite a few of the top meta setups as they generally use powerstanced or ofhand weapons...
unneccesarry in the sense that the ravioli is just for flash, you dont need it in order to do the backstab
@@Rust_BKT the way you described it implied that it's either ravioli step or pivot cancel with guard up to be able to do it though no? so i'm not sure how that is just for flash given the right context, which is not even such a rare context.

i use a dragon greatshield and pike, with offhand knight greatsword/grossmesser and erdtree seal. while usually wearing either banished knight or tree sentinal sets. call me the poise beast.
Yo, I've said it on countless soulsborne ring channels and I'll say it again. Someone over at From Software, presumesably Miyazaki, must have been into Aikido because critical attack, both parry/ripostes and back-stabs are nearly all you do in Aikido.
Aikdo does most of the practice unarmed but the optimal place to me in Aikido is either just behind your opponent or just inside their range, often from first opening their posture up with a parry.
In Aikido your main followup attack is going to be either a throw, a bin or a joint-lock. However Aikido comes from aikijujutsu which was a martial art designed for samurai to be able to fight back with out having to permanently hurt a person. This was usually done by a sucker punch to the vitals or the back of the head or a pin. The sucker punch or pin was setup with positioning just like what you demonstrate here.

Its not the grab angle that causes most of the weird ones, i did a vid on the 1.10 update for backstabs if you wanna take a look
Hope the dlc has something that makes you immune to backstabs like a talisman or something would make heavy weapon builds way more viable beyoud pokes maybe balance it by only working if you're using a colossal weapon.
there is a talisman that reduces critical damage taken (backstabs/ripostes) but its kind of ass. mabye a greatshield like the razorback in tf2 or board on those great saw enemies at the undead settlement in ds3.
@@TK-7193I edited my comment upon realizing my mistake it should only work if you're using a heavy weapon otherwise it would make backstabs worthless hopefully after fromsoft balance patches the crouch poke. I really want colossals to be more then oversized rapiers.

@@WokeandProud i use colossals alot, so i feel the pain, trust. But removing the risk of getting grabbed just inhibits the skill expression of the other player and does nothing further to enhance your own. Whereas instead, working on spacing and learning how to avoid getting grabbed are skills that youre forced to develop with colossals. I see no problem with raising the skill floor on colossals by having them easy to bs

absolutely, its a playstyle i dont enjoy playing against. we have the ability to tailor our game experience, so i opt to do so
