- Note: I know I already covered Black Lady in the Chibiusa/Chibimoon video, but I didn't like how I didn't give either form enough coverage and that the music overpowered the voices, so I'm redoing both as separate characters.

Everytime Misato screams “Pluto!!!” I ALWAYS get chills down my spine
Misato's scream cry at 4:45 is heartbreaking. Her voice kinda goes back and forth with sounding mature and childish. I think she kinda wanted to have that youthful quality still so people could hear/see her as ChibiUsa at certain times.
Misato may not be my favourite Black Lady but I thought she did fantastic job of the part where Chibiusa started to break through. That scream just felt so real to me.
Sandy Fox sounds pretty good as a villain considering how many times she has voiced high pitch girls

Surprised Sandy can maintain such a low range; her voice is naturally high-pitched.
That's because VIZ media wanted her to voice both Chibi-Usa and Black Lady, all together and you get an actress who can do it all.

Liz makes Black Lady sound like a witch,maybe if she toned it down a bit the voice could work. Sandy sounds normal and evil at the same and I love how she uses a different voice when she is Chibi
And Sandy's voice for Black Lady does not have any digital alterations done to her, unlike the DiC voice. I'm surprised that Sandy could pull it off, considering that her actual voice is VERY high pitched (she uses her normal voice for Chibi-Usa when she's not Black Lady).

Sandy did a great job with Black Lady. She sounds aggressive and dark, she's lady-like while still maintaining a bit of childishness. There are a few derp moments while recording, but I like hers over the older dub more.

Even though I'm used to the Dic's dub, I enjoy Sandy's take and that it didn't have a voice alteration.
Kae Araki is the best Black Lady to me - she sounded the most villainous and sultry. Misato was good acting-wise but unfortunately, I don't hear much difference between the voice she used for her and her Chibi-Usa. Really don't like Liz Brown in this role - not only do I find her voice too wicked-witchy but I also thought she relied too much on her bratty childish side. Sandy may have had a couple of witchy-sounding moments herself but at least she had a better balance of maturity and childishness.

It's cool in the original japanese, Crystal and Viz versions they are played by the same voice actors of Chibiusa and DiC has a different voice actor.

I could picture potential outtakes from the dub being Sandy Fox slipping out of her Black Lady voice and going into her high pitched voice that is her normal voice (which you probably heard as Kyoko in Akira (2001 dub), Flonne from Disgaea, Harmony in Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi, and Eddelrittuo in Aldnoah.Zero, as well as Chibi-Usa herself).

Lady was mature, seductive and charming. Chibi is just an annoying brat who never matured. She was still a brat in the final seasons of the show.
Why couldn't they introduce a grown up version of Chibi in later seasons? You know, a sailor version of black lady?

Why did DiC even get someone else to voice Black Lady anyway? Tracy Hoyt could've just used a grown-up version of her Chibi-usa voice.

I vote for Miss Sandy Fox of Black Lady because of her voice fits perfectly to be a villain to defeat Sailor Moon, Tuxedo Mask, and the Sailor Guardians. Besides, I was surprised that She voices perfectly as the Black lady but Miss Fox will always be the legend anime voice actress of all time.
PEOPLE : Let a voice actress voiced Black Lady like Cristina Vee, Erica Lindbeck, or Philece Sampler.

That would be cool, since Chibiusa and Hotaru are great together. But Mistress 9 is a totally different person from Hotaru and Saturn, so it's hard to tell 🤔

All of the actresses are good.
Sandy Fox is clearly the strongest actress (heck, she's better than most of the Inner Sailor Guardians) as she does pull off the dual role. My only problem with the performance is the homogeny. Her lines are wonderful, but when added with the rest of the show, she starts sounding VERY similar to the rest of the girls. It isn't a big deal because by this point, the girls are reduced to background noise.
Liz Brown is good, and I like that she is trying to match Hoyt's cadence and tone. The filter is actually a great invention, as it makes it evident that Wicked Lady is being manipulated in a different way than the rest of the Negamoon clan.

Seeing Black Lady get gaslighted by Wiseman telling her that memories aren't real, and knowing that's actually Chibi-Usa at 0:46 and 7:45 is really harrowing. What a terrible thing to do to her. 😔The changed music in the DIC dub screwed up that moment, so it's more eerie than sad. 😕
Kae Araki is the best, no contest! The second actress doesn't even come close. And the Dic ones are a joke. Viz dub is much better.

FACT: Miss Sandy Fox voices Bipierrot before voicing Black Lady on the season 2 episode of Sailor Moon.
People complain about the sound effects with the Liz version but I think they added something unique to it. Sandy just sounds normal which doesn't adding anything new.
Kae araki and misato fukuen did really great as black lady/wicked lady in the 90's and crystal version of sailor moon. Liz was also okay as wicked lady from the dic dub version of sailor moon. And sandy fox did great as black lady in the viz dub of sailor moon too.
I wonder why DIC added those weird effects to her voice...super strange watching that with the rest of the versions.

I always cringe when the Viz dub uses the term 'Sailor Guardians'. Aside from the significance of the term 'soldier' in season 3 and 5, it's gonna be awkward when they starT having that transformation music that chants 'SAILOR SOLDIERS'.
Guardians is the term that Naoko (the creator) wanted to use, it fits the narrative of the story. The Solider label was more of reference to Sentai (male demographic) shows of that time.
I agree completely. The people at Viz insist on using it so much. I have even heard them refer to Sailor Galaxia as the "Guardian of all Guardians"...

For Crystal, fine, since it's based more on the manga. But the 90's anime is its own thing, so no to using it there.
Nocturne22, "Guardian" is one of those terms mandated by Naoko Takeuchi herself. "Sailor Soldier," no matter how loved by fans, is no different than referring to "Usagi" as "Serena." When you consent to a more "accurate" dub, you realize that this means accurate to how the author wants it...even when she changes terms from as they were created before.

These are all good but I think Barbara Godson or Mary Elizabeth McGlynn could've done it better in the Viz dub.
Personally, I would have liked to see Karen Strassman voice Chibiusa and Black Lady, but I think Sandy Fox was great as Black Lady all the same.
wow im torn Liz had a much more dynamic way of delivering her lines but the reverb was really annoying sometimes and sandy's voice fits the character's look and build but i feel like she's just reading, theres no life to her voice its flat. honestly Usagi and Re are the only ones from the Viz dub that i feel are even acting. and the ages of the character voices are sooo off its very hard to watch. also i have a severely difficult time listening to American voices calling each other by asian names it makes it sound like an awful fan dub and then im just painfully aware i should just be watching this in japanese. I will stick with original Japanese thank you!

The original done by Kae is the best, hands down, mainly because her performance is what has created such a wonderful fanbase for Black Lady as a character. The SMC voice done by Misato comes in close second because while the version of Black Lady she plays is portrayed from the manga rather than the 90s show, they way she handles herself shows she’s also trying to pay homage to the original portrayal in the 90s.
As for the English dubs, neither really capture the feel of the character. If I had to choose, however, the DiC dub would be my preferred version. Yes the 90s original dub was corny and toned down the dark themes of the story arc, the emotion that many of the voice actors put into their lines are what win it over. The Viz dub just sounds so... forced. Like the actors are trying to hard to recreate what the DiC dub has already laid out as well as one up it at the same time. It’s so forced to the point it makes the characters seem so whiny even when they aren’t complaining. The Viz iteration of Black Lady literally made her sound like she was a high school snob throwing a temper tantrum. The DiC dub wins over Viz any day, even if it’s corny as hell.

3:31 Black Lady said her is the "Queen" of darkness and the "Queen" of nemesis, so I think Kae's voice is best for a "Queen". Misato and Sandy's voice more like a Princess. some people said Liz's voice like a witch, but don't forget Black Lady was mind controlled, so I think Liz still better than Sandy.

God I'm sorry, but Liz Brown is terrible, and the voice actress for Sailor Moon on DiC is worse! Both DiC and Viz versions, and even the SMC voice actress sound terrible, I prefer Kae Araki's voice, she's the only one who sounds like an actual villainess, not a bratty teen nor like they're trying too hard. Also, what's with the sound distortions on DiC's dub???
