For such bastards they both are, their relationship seems actually healthy and genuine in affection. They honestly steal every scene. Love them.
It’s not healthy or genuine, Spawn’s intros implies she’s simply a puppet master manipulating him (and Kahn having the mental capacity of a brick shit house in this version leads credibility to his words), another intro with (I’m trying to remember I think it may have have been Centrion) has Sindel scoff at the idea that being with Shao Kahn is a reward she says something along the lines of “that’s his reward, what is mine”. Not only that, this mind numbing trek comes at the sake of consistency: this Sindel utterly loathes anything resembling “weak” (what she views as weak) so OF COURSE, she would dote on this fucking idiot who was not only beaten to a pulp, thrown in a cell, blind and left to rot the first time she sees him he’s getting the crap beaten out of him by the MK equivalent of Red Shirts. The only reason this Sindel would ever approach Shao Kahn in such a state would be to mock him or even kill him for falling so far. Hell one of her intros with him has her wanting to be assured he hasn’t grown weak. Sindel only wants him because he’s “powerful” nothing more nothing less.

@Thomas Raines The intros tend to not be canon and just be for fun. There's a lot of lore breaking and what-ifs in them. They're meant to be taken with a grain of salt.

It’s probably a bit of both honestly a trophy and a love,I don’t like the retcon ether but it is still nice to see Shao Khan respect someone and even wholeheartedly love someone.

Maybe if they arrived a few seconds earlier, things might have been different - or Sindel would simply have killed them on the spot like she did Shao Kahn's torturers. Afterwards, she could make up any story she wanted, and noone could testify against her. But no, I also don't think ALL Shokan are that bright. At least compared to Shiva and Goro, and maybe Kintaro.

You have to admit Sindel, evil as she is, seems to be a supportive and loving wife to Shao Khan. He just has to make sure he never becomes weak or pathetic.
Yes, I know, some people say that she's only with him because she wants more power and because he's powerful. But let's not forget that in the MK11 storyline, she saved and healed him when he lost his khan status, lost an arena fight, was blinded by Kitana, and almost got killed by the guards in prison. He had no power, but she still cared for him.

As much as I want to agree with the other comments on how Sindel and Shao Kahn truly love each other, I just keep getting flashbacks on how they ended Sindel's Klassic Tower Arcade with her sitting on the throne all prideful and comfortable with Shao Kahn standing by her side as a servant, with a giant fan and lacking his signature helmet, and not as her equal.

I've been reading a lot of comments on the disappointment in Sindel's character change from hero to villain. I was more upset by the fact that she turned heel(villain) and this is the best she's ever looked in physical appearance. Beautiful figure, nice flowing hair, gentle grace in her speech, flare in her walk, nice dress, they even add a flower for goodness sake. As compared to her normal wild hair, devil makeup, and outfits of terror, in intent and distasteful fashion. They did this s**t backwards if you ask me.

I'm actually surprised how well they mesh. I dislike them greatly, their intentions and attitude make me want to retch my very soul from my body, yet just like the monk bros, ninja homies, and the PPC (Paradox Parent & Child), their teamwork is on point and both exude an undeniable trust to one another, as real equals.
Who would have thought Shao Kahn and Sindel make a great couple? It's like seeing a Chad and Stacy having a loving, wholesome relationship with the ultimate goal of conquest across all time and space.
Which instantly stops if one of them is viewed as “weak”. There’s nothing wholesome about an entirely circumstantial relationship.

Sindel's retconned character has that "fire" Shao Kahn craves. While Shao Kahn has unsurprisingly stayed the same with an insatiable lust for conquest that retconned Sindel swoons for.
One amusing way to mess this up is to bring Skarlet into the equation to get that cliché love triangle happening.
How would Shao Kahn react? Who would win the fight to the death to be Shao Kahn's queen? WHAT DOES THE FOX SAY?!?!
