Making this "Bass Knob" Mount is MORE COMPLEX THAN YOU THINK!

- When mounting a custom bass knob for a car audio system amplifier I try to avoid drilling into factory panels if possible. But this means we need to create a mounting solution. Today I am going to try to create a bass knob mount solution that will be easy to access but look integrated and be robust.

Hi Mark- great video! I wouldn't even know where to begin with reproducing this. Is there any way that you could share a link to the 3D Printer files so that those of us who are not exceptionally talented as you are could take them to a 3D printer outlet and have them made for us? I'm sure we'd all really appreciate it. This is definitely the perfect location for the DRC205 knob. And like you, I'm also not too keen on mods that make it impossible to revert my Jeep back to stock. Thanks in advance!

In the beginning when I started watching I thought you were just some garage guy with some knowledge now I see you been a pro for a long time now. I did a similar project for my Pioneer AVH-2550NEX. I needed the USB in my dash so I printed an adapter to hold the extension cable in the hole where the cigarette lighter socket is. It is installed through the front and has a threaded nut that holds it in place. It goes in a Ram 1500.

Mark, I have been studying 3d printing. I recently came across a video on smoothing 3d prints with acetone. It leaves a really nice and smooth effect.
Hey Mark…long time subscriber. I would love to see you take on a Harley bagger project. You know, batwing fairing, lowers, mid bass in the saddlebags, etc. there are a couple other channels out there but none focus on custom panels the way you do. The challenges of limited space are frustrating and I bet you would expand your audience as well! Anyway, keep up the great work. It’s refreshing to see people really care about the work they put their name on!

If you want stronger prints you should add more walls, Then you could reduce the infill. But since those parts are small really either way is going to work.

Great video and content as usual, Mark. Every second of video is full of expertise derived from knowledge and experience. Question, you seem to be a fan of JL but have you ever worked with Mosconi amplification?
I wanted to add a little better sound and some bass to my Fiesta ST because the factory system is less than good enough. It is a small car so I wanted to keep what I add to a minimum and more stealth. I bought some after market speakers for the front and rear doors. I also bought a JBL Bass Pro Hub spare tire sub and amp all in one. The JBL would allow me to keep all my hatch space and I think it would give me that little bump of bass I am looking for. After watching a few videos trying to determine the best way to install the sub and speakers I ran into the CarAudioFabrication channel.
After watching a few videos on the amplifiers I fell in love with the Audio Control amps, so I decided maybe the front and rear speakers need a little more power. As I watched more videos here and there and learned more about the Ford Fiesta stock Sony head unit it became apparent this head unit is going to be a nightmare to deal with. I started off wanting a very simple speaker/sub amp install. I still want to keep as much space as possible but I have to say these CAF videos are so good; I have been sucked in watching hours of video content that has nothing to do with what I want to achieve.
Now I want to throw away all the things I already bought and do something more custom but still stealthy. Thanks to CAF now I am looking in to sound deadening, custom sub box for the spare tire area and a multiple amp setup with the challenge to make it all hidden. @CarAudioFabrication love the videos, now if you happen to do any work regarding a 2014-2019 Ford Fiesta ST (especially the head unit) please make a video on it and post. I will be waiting for that TH-cam notification.

Question mark audio control bass knob that comes with the lc2i. Took apart to paint it. Where and how exactly to you put the knob where the line is. So it doesn't spin way to far down but not the same the other way. Thank you

Impossible to see how this would be remotely close to a DYI install. You do absolutely incredible work but this to me although is a fantastic idea, the purchase of a an expensive 3D printer and then trying to figure it the software for installing this bass knob is extreme overkill. I appreciate your tips and hope you plan on selling some of the products you fabricate.
This may be a long shot, but can you do a review on wavtech gear? Active Line output converters to be specific?

Coding can yield interesting results. I hand coded a G-code program to make a chess set. Well one of the pieces I misplaced the decimal and the cutting tool goes zipping across the plane. Luckily I followed good practices and test ran the program before putting in the metal piece to cut. Otherwise it would have broke the bench top lathe. Fun stuff coding. Lol

Looks great Mark. Any plans to get a 3d resin printer? I've been using one for about a year now and you can't beat it for those small detail parts. No layer lines at all. Definitely saves in the paint and finish area. Downside is sacrificing a bit of strength. But it would be perfect for that detailed visible piece. As always, Thanks for sharing the videos and keep it up!

Hi Mark...I know that this is way off subject here but...Have you ever or do you know anyone who has ever built a custom, fiberglassed, and ported enclosure for 2 JL 13W7's? Either in the same enclosure or two separate ones on opposite sides of an SUV? Is it possible to do? I have looked everywhere on the internet and can not find this example.

I Have that knuconptz distribution block for my 1/0G wires but can’t use a 1/0g ferrules with it😏
Not sure what ferrules you are using because I've never had an issue.

Every automatic car has a shift lock button/key hole somewhere. Good to know if you die out somewhere and need to get the car in neutral.
I "3D Model" with JB Weld, lol. But seriously, 3D modeling is no different than learning how to use any tool. If you can calculate how to build a speaker box, you can figure out 3D model CAD. Practice. Another skillset.
