Agreed, I feel like my body is broken at 37… and I know my potential and what I used to be and I don’t even recognise who I’ve become now so this is inspiring me to change now
@@wydnoob5974 nice! Keep going man. I literally started skateboarding a few months ago. It’s just fun coasting at the moment, getting used to the board. Feels good just to do that, but also a challenge to keep going. I really need to sort out my routine and health though like PRod is.
I really feel for PR. Dude is a living legend. Outdone nearly everyone when he was just 14 years old. You never even knew that he fell or struggled like everyone else he was so consistent, his tricks so perfect. Little did we know that his head was in the game harder than everyone else. Every move must have been done just as he imagined it. Now, seeing him going through the struggles of rehabiliating his body. Bro, I swear I thought this shit only happened to me. I've been skating for 23 years on and off and I'm nowhere near PR but I have had my time and I feel like it's behind me. Now I go skating every now and then just to let things go, forget about the problems in life. When I watch these, I can't help but think that PR looks like he's been thinking about skating for too long. He looks very over everything. When he talked about losing the inspiration, I know exactly how he felt. He's wise enough to just stay focused, to stay at the skatepark and to do something productive like work on his rehab. PR is a G. And more than anything, I really hope he finds happiness in this. No point in being jaded. He has so many skills in skating that he can really do what ever he feels like doing on a skateboard. Maybe he just needs to find something new to skate in his life or maybe he needs to take a break? I don't mean that in an offensive way. It would be hard to part ways with something that provides for you and would most likely be detrimental to your career. But mental health should always come first. Or maybe the super strong don't see life that way. Maybe that's why he's a master and everyone else is still learning the principles of being a student.

Don't do static stretching before you do physical activity. Do dynamic stretching. So like leg swings and movement type stretches. Think of muscles as rubber bands. If you stretch out your muscles before you do your activity you're pulling them out all the way and they're going to snap. Do static stretching AFTER you're done. To release the tension. You still want some kind of tension when you're doing this shit cuz it's what keeps you stable. Otherwise you're just causing more leg/knee pain. I like to do static stretching before I get in my car and then by the time I go to the skatepark my muscles will have tightened back up a bit and I still feel flexible and not achy. I still have the rigidity I need for impact and good pop. But I'll have my flexibility and range of motion for falling, and overall fluidity. Ice bath is OP but get that back in there. Helps with pain tolerance, back pain, stress, you'll feel it in your brain and the stress just ESCAPE your body and a bunch of other hippy type reasons. But it's just stoners over complicating things that don't need to be that crazy or complicated... You don't necessarily have to listen to me or respect what I say. But a lot of the "training" and pre-workout shiii that you learned from the Nike HQ. Has changed/evolved in the last 5 years A LOT. Athletes are now getting more into range of motion and flexibility type of workouts instead of just lifting a shit ton of stuff to the point their muscles have no flexibility and then they tear all of their ligaments. Riding a bike is also super good for helping knee pain. No impact, works all of the stabilizer knee muscles that normal work outs or routine doesn't strengthen. (which helps with knee pain and overall longevity especially at this point in your career) But forsure the first couple of times you ride a bike or pedal you'll feel like you can barely walk. Then you'll hop on your board and notice just how much more POP you got and how kickflips don't hurt anymore or jumping down sets. Still wouldn't ride a bike before you skate though. Do that after when you're home and put on a show or movie. But honestly fuck jumping down any set of stairs. It's cool and all but like goddamn save the cartilage in your knees. I know all this stuff from skiing. Skiing is all knees and #1 injury that happens to all professional athletes regardless of expertise. And falling on skis and catching an edge and ripping your whole ahh ACL, MCL. Shit ain't no joke. I hope P-Rod or Spanish Mike sees this and takes the advice. You can search this all up online for validation. I ain't saying to do all this crazy CrossFit type stuff. It's all routinely or every other day, chill stuff. Love this stuff though, keep it up. Makes me glad to see that even in my future I have some longevity to just keep skating not as a career path but as a fun hobby and a way to get outside and sweat.
