First of all, I absolutely loved doing this interview. Paul is just such a great, thoughtful dude. Second, the part where he talks about feeling that fire in his belly and that insatiable desire to practice at and compete in his craft is, IMO, one of the realest and most relatable moments we’ve captured on this show.

Its good when u have a passion for something. Not everyone is blessed to have that put into them. Cuz we always hear of so many people going through life feeling numb and just going through the motions. Maybe those people gave up their passion or never had one to begin with. And u cant copy someone elses passion that shitll never work. Only thing though is that when u have a passion for something, u cant be lazy at all cuz letting your potential go to waste is the greatest regret in life.

In all honesty, I found out who P-Rod was because of his shoes. I was visiting my GF in another city, and they had a rad skateshop that got the quick and hyper strike, Nike SB's. They had so many cool pairs, but the ones that stood out the most to me, were these black snake skin ones, that had Mexican blanket uppers. They were the "P-Rod Mexicans" You couldn't order them online, had to buy them directly from the shop.
I got a pair, and that was the first time I heard the name "P-Rod". I wasn't skating at the time (I skated in the 90's, and didn't pick it up again till around 2014) so I'd not heard of Him before.

that’s exactly how i was too when i first saw it. i had big passions going professional when i was a kid because of Rob & Big. but then my mom shot it down. she kept saying it’s not a real sport, you can’t make money of it. so i dropped it before high school cause i outgrew or something.
