    I can only afford a second hand glove :(

      No problem there, buy what you can and take great care of it. Never feel ashamed because you can’t afford the top of the line equipment.

      Don’t sweat it, buy a used a2000 or heart of the hide for like 75$! Still great! Maybe relace or condition it too!

    1:56 ... Damned straight! I still have my old Wilson A2140 Bobby Bonds glove from the early 80's when I was a wee lad and it's still great! Playing catch just never gets old. 8^)

    I use boot conditioner like bickmore 4 and it doesn’t darken the leather.

    Doesn't this make the glove a lot heavier?

    In my experience....it is a lot better if you condition the glove withou the laces, just saying

      Rene Espinoza I'm not a huge fan of having to re-lace a glove, it sucks.

    You do all sorts of things don't you. The only thing that I would personally change is the intro, its more of a video gaming channel intro, but you do you. Also loosen up in front of the camera, don't be so awkward and that will dou your channel wonders. Love it so far keep it up!

    Why is coconut oil better than say baby oil? Or olive oil? Or mink oil. Don't say to use whatever you want, I'm asking why coconut oil vs others

    • @TheProvider
      @TheProvider  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Coconut oil is a natural oil that is not prone to spoiling. The thing that helps condition the leather is the fat content of the oil. Baby oil is a petroleum based product and therefore does not have those fats. Being a petroleum based oil it merely coats the leather instead of being absorbed by it.

    i hope you know every time you condition your glove it doesn't break it in it makes the the leather stronger witch last time i checked it reverse the break in... and yes anyone who wants to debate me try to

    • @TheProvider
      @TheProvider  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      lock down I think your confusing "breaking in" and " breaking down". Breaking in a glove is about increasing the softness or suppleness of the leather to increase it's usability. This is accomplished with conditioners, we do not want to decrease leather strength, because that also decreases leather life. Whereas, breaking down the leather by using an inappropriate conditioner or to much conditioner would lead to breaking down the leather fibers, thus increasing softness, but also decreasing leather life.
      You will find in life that making blanket challenges, especially to the public, rarely will work out for you. There is always someone bigger, faster, stronger, or smarter out there. Know your limits and handle yourself with class, and no one will ever make you look like an ass.

    • @lockdown1958
      @lockdown1958 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Provider im not confusing anything glove oils make the leather stronger by strengthening the fibers in the leather and what happens to those fibers when you use your glove for a long period of time they break down and thats what breaking in is... yes glove oils will make the leather softer... but if glove oils are used incorrectly it can make the glove heavier

    • @TheProvider
      @TheProvider  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      lock down Used correctly or incorrectly an oil or conditioner will add weight to the glove. Once again I think you may be confused. That "softness" or suppleness, which is actually increased flexibility is a good thing. It slows the destruction of the leather fibers which will lead to longer use of the glove. I don't see how this is a bad thing. That added flexibility also makes the break-in process easier and quicker. You make it seem like it's a bad thing with your claims of added strength. Shit, I might oil the glove everyday till it's stronger than steel. Glad you dropped your challenge me bro mantra.

    dont put any type of oil on your gloves. It makes your glove much heavier which is something you dont want in a baseball glove that you want to last

    • @TheProvider
      @TheProvider  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      False statement here bro. The weight of the oil which lessens over time is negligible when compared to the overall weight of the glove. The oil allows for a better few and long lasting glove, which I feel is much more important than an extra ounce of weight at most.

    • @golfballsify
      @golfballsify 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Think about the weight of the oil man, it is negligible.
