      Luis Correa Jr what kind of glove do you have? The glove I’m currently using is the Wilson a700, it is meant for 2 in the pinky it’s a nice glove but it is really hard to break in, you might consider buying the Wilson a700 glove.

    I have a Wilson A2000 from 1981. It rested in a closet for years, 20+, and was virtually ruined. I purchased some Nokona Glove Conditioner, and within a week the glove was new. It is the best conditioner I have used on any glove. Never put two balls in a glove and drop it in a bucket of water overnight or steam it. That ruins the leather, and most of us want the glove to last many years. Before using the Nokona Conditioner, I used Renew skin conditioner because leather is skin. I also recommend that glove oil not be used. It soaks through the leather into the padding and makes the leather too soft. Since buying the Nokona Conditioner, I have purchased three Nokona gloves and like all three. I just love watching TV and tossing a ball in a glove. It used to drive my dad nut, but he's gone, and I'm 70, so I can do it all I want.

    Awesome tutorial! After 25 years of playing with the same mitt I got for my 7th birthday I decided that it's time to retire the old girl. From little league all the way through high school and into beer league softball she was a gamer. Anyways my point is I really had no idea how to approach breaking in a new glove until I watched this. Thanks for the help bro.

    i have a wilson glove. it is a wilson A 2005 it is a jim "catfish hunter" glove. size about 11.5. i knew nothing about gloves when i bought it i just liked the glove. i did not know hunter was a pitcher even. i paid $100.00 for it many years ago. i am now 76. i just watched a professional ball player say the first thing you should do to it is spray it with shaving cream with lanolin. rub it in and than clean it offf. the lanolin gives the glove waterproofing qualities. i have used vaseline on the stock of my mauser rifle to give it a good waterproof surface. i think that vaseline is okay to use but only about 3 or 4 times a year. like you say just use the minimal amount when you put it on. he said not to use glove oil too much because it will make the glove heavy. thanks for the video. it was informative for the gloves they are producing today.

      Matthew Heffernan How did it go breaking in the 44 glove?

    • @matthewheffernan6975
      @matthewheffernan6975 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Reid Richter Slow LOL! It’s not fully broke in yet but to be honest with you we just took our time with it because he still gamed his old glove the season and he actually did end up using it a bit towards the end of the season but his season got cut a little short because he ended up being diagnosed with a little league shoulder. It is usable but not fully broken in yet but he absolutely loves it! By next season it will be good to go and he has no choice now because his old glove was so shocked that it went in the trash

    • @reidrichter4292

    Sorry, but I’m going to have to flame you a little. First of all, real ball players don’t wear their snap back hat backwards. Respect the game. Second, there really wasn’t a whole lot of info or content in the video for it being over 11 min long. What I got from it was you don’t like Rawlings, you’re an a2000 guy, you don’t like using products help break your glove in- only possibly use VASELINE after a couple years wear- and you don’t put much work or effort into breaking in your gloves. You just obsessively manipulate away at the thumb and pinky so your glove has an AESTHETIC flare🤔. Appreciate the thought and effort, but maybe polishing the delivery a little before you record and post it for good...just a lot of rambling in there with some uncertainty about what to say next a lot of the time. Could have probably relayed what you had to say in under four minutes, easy. I did have a question for you, however. Why Vaseline? Why petroleum jelly instead of using something that is a petroleum based product but has additional ingredients in it designed to clean, condition, and restore leathers specifically? Just curious.

    Man I'm not gonna lie during this video I had a wtf moment. Like what is going on here. Since a kid I was always told a floppy worn in glove was better! My glove got oiled before every season too. But my glove was nicely conditioned and soft but deff wouldn't just stay open like any of these but it wasn't forced closed it was just so soft, broke in and conditioned and I loved it! Not sure what I would do with a glove that is stiff and stays open like that.. I guess my grandfather was just one of them guys who liked their glove nice and floppy and well broken in so that's what I knew and why I grew to like mine the same. Just makes me rethink a lot of stuff. Great video tho man!

    How to break in a glove like a pro.... Step one: buy a $200 glove. Uh... you lost me at step one.

    My main issue with new gloves used to be leather slipperyness. So I sandpapered the inside fingers and palm of the glove (not the web though) for 2 min, moisten a cloth and wipe it down and then oil it. Sometimes product/preservatives made the leather slick.

    +Rivrat , Im about to get an A2000 catchers mitt in the mail, and I was trying to figure out if I should make the little dark mark in the palm (idk what its called lol). I think it has something to do with pine tar and burning it, if you know what it is/how to do it, please let me know thanks
