    It works!
    I use a 100x50x1.5 mm aluminium sheet
    with thermal paste
    and fastened up with paper tire.
    Now I can play sound with volume 70%-80% forever.
    Above 90% sound stops after a few minutes because of overheating of conexant sound chip.
    It seems that chip feeds internally a short-circuit and need replacement. I cannot believe that sound produces normally so many heating.
    Do not use very thin sheet because chip produces a lot of heating and thin sheet does not diffuse heat properly.

    I had a Toshiba, long time ago , and had a very deceptive experience. It was one of the first laptop with a color screen !
    I wanted to upgrade it with a network board and the Toshiba gut just told me : yes you can but you have to replace the mother board...
    A couple year ago I got another Toshiba (Satellite) , that I still use today but the experience is not much better.
    I wanted to replace the "hybrid" hard disk for a SSD and the Toshiba help told me I was running into problem because the disk rotation speed was wrong.
    I had to write an email to Toshiba headquaters to get someone serious to call me and eventualy solve my problem...
    May be unlucky with th e Toshiba's ? But both were causing problems and on a 25 years period the aftersale service is not improving...

    Will this work on a toshiba z40-a?
    I replaced the motherboard on the laptop and after replacing it i notice i don't get no sound from it neither when i plug in a headphone it doesn't detect when it is plugged. i have tried everything i could online:
    - Reinstalling realtek audio driver
    - Uninstalling tealtek audio driver then restarting laptop
    - Disable enhancements
    - Changing realtek audio driver to high definition restarting then still nothing
    - Unplugging speaker cables and reconnecting them back
    But when i use a bluetooth speaker i hear sound. What could be causing this to happen?

    it worked for me but you do a shit if you give on chip only a cooper coin you really need to give and paste on chip like it is on video 2cm lenght and at last 1,5 or 2 mm thickness cooper piece...

      So it's my understanding that you tried it and it worked for you. Did you use a square or a rectangular shim? If it was square: how did you managed to fix it, after sitting it on top of the chip with thermal paste? Thanks a lot!

    i guess it doesnt matter but just in case i'm missing something, any reason for the odd shape of the copper plate?

    • @OverLandingGuy

      No reason as such, just make sure it doesn't touch any electricals or obstruct the case closing.

    • @OverLandingGuy
      @OverLandingGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can try using headphones, if it's working fine in headphones then the cracking is probably because of bad speakers.

    Can I use Thermal Pad instead of copper plate?

    • @deff7687
      @deff7687 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, you can't: a thermal pad is heat insulating, whereas copper plate is heat conductive. That would sort the opposite effect.

      @@danielro524 lo que explica en el video es que el audio de algunas toshiba se corta porque se calienta el chip del audio. Entonces toca abrirla, ubicar el chip de sonido que generalmente esta cerca de donde se conectan los auriculares. Una vez ubicado le pones un poco de pasta termica y una chapa de cobre o aluminio (esto lo pegas con cinta, pistola de suprabond o algo parecido). Esto es para que el chip no levante tanta temperatura y no se corte el audio.
