  • Attention Hong Kong travelers! 🌟 If you're planning on going up to the Peak, skip the tourist trap and save money by taking the bus instead of the train! 🚌 Not only is it cheaper, but you'll also get to enjoy stunning views along the way. 🏞️
    Once you get to the top, avoid the Peak Tower and take a leisurely stroll along the Peak Circle Walk for an equally breathtaking view for free! 🚶‍♀️🌅 Trust me, it's worth it.
    Don't fall for the expensive admission fees and long lines at the Peak Tower. Instead, opt for a peaceful walk with fresh air and stunning views of the city. 🌇 Plus, you'll get some exercise in while avoiding the crowds.
    So next time you're in Hong Kong, take my advice and enjoy the Peak without breaking the bank! 🤑

    As a Hongkonger, I agree

    88 HKD 🤦‍♂️ 95% of people who pay thousands of dollars to fly to Hong Kong are willing to spend an extra $11.29 USD to experience it. You don’t have to go if you don’t want but calling it an outright scam is utter nonsense! It’s like calling a restaurant a scam because it’s cheaper to cook at home.

    As a local, I 100% agree. I have taken the Peak Tram only twice here, and the views from it are comparatively horrible compared to the no. 15 bus, which has really good views as the bus slowly climbs the mountain + it’s cheap.
    The SkyTerrace is an absolute trap - it doesn't give a full view of the city and it's expensive. The Lion Pavilion next to the Peak Tower, although it's free, you can't get a full view. Lugard Road is free, has really good views, doesn't have many people, and you can use it for exercise as well.

    You are dead right! Perfect advice. You can also continue along Lugard Road and walk down if you fancy it! Plus there's a rooftop above the Peak Galleria shopping mall that has a free view of the scenery from the other side of the Peak, which is great too. 👏👏👏

    What do you mean the Peak Tram is a tourist trap? It is literally the traditional way of travel to the Peak and it is unique.

    • @jackthebackpacker
      @jackthebackpacker  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The price makes it a tourist trap. I doubt locals commute using it as it’s too expensive .

    Got a little confused - where should we take the bus to?

  • @Mr_Busted
    @Mr_Busted 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I understand but it is for the tram experience and the sky terrace. We know it is a bit more expensive. Many people want to ride on a tram. And Sky terrace is a bit of scam but there are people who still want to go up. If you want to take the bus that is ok but I still would recommend a tram trip

    I ❤️ your honesty & videos. This message is URGENT !!!
    I am 65 & planning to visit various places of tourist interest during an 18 hours layover in Hongkong alongwith my spouse. Please advise;
    1. Is it worth moving about during mid June Days especially when I have read that Hongkong is EXTREMELY HOT in the month of June.
    I am seeking your honest and straightforward opinion whether it is possible to explore Big Buddha, The Peak and the Symphony of Lights.
    Secondly, we may like to take a little rest fir 4/5 hours, after landing at Hongkong for which you are requested to share details of some neat and clean hotel about which you know details and have stayed. Can we check-in after reach I ng such a hotel.or do hotels in Hongkong allow only after 3PM?
    A return reply shall be highly appreciated.

      Just look it up on Google maps it tells you the bus number. To save money take the bus from the airport instead of the train.

    Bus rides are more fun. Tram? Unless the HKTA trims the tree branches blocking the view is not worth it.
