Yesung isn't actually in the original of Mamacita because he was in the military when it came out. In the original it's Kyuhyun and Ryeowook doing all the high notes and adlibs. The music video is hilarious by the way. There's even a 6 minute 'drama' version, just so you can get the whole story. SS7 was really cool because they were missing 2 of their 3 main vocals, so the rap line had to step up and be the vocalists and they did a fantastic job! It's You from SS7 is one of my all time favourite performances because Shindong really gets a chance to shine. I didn't realise he could sing that well until then.
Yeah I've thought this about the military leave before. On the one hand, you miss the members who aren't there but on the other hand, your sub-vocalists etc. finally get a chance to shine! I actually have an EXO playlist called Sehun's Mic is ON! that's basically just Don't Fight the Feeling album. 😂 And it's not even just limited to music. Season Three of EXO's Ladder was literally only the quiet members with the entire beagle line still serving but it was the funniest season yet!
Super Junior has quite a few songs to tell off the haters and this is one of them. On the contrary, the MV and especially the drama version, is very funny and has nothing to do with the lyrics of "Mamacita". I really liked the explanation you have given us about the method used in this song. It's good to learn something new every day ☺️

I think you should also react to 6min drama version (it's so fun) with original line-up. I love Yesung he's my all time 2nd kpop vocalist but besides the other 2 main vocalists (Ryewook and Kyuhyun) I need to hear Kangin and Sungmin in this song. And another cool thing about this song producer Yoo Youngjin used members names in the lyrics and it's an answer to SuJu antis who were criticizing the group with lots of nonsense. Even though it's hard to believe an incredibly talented group as SuJu suffers from antis, it has been going on since their debut.

I’m not remotely familiar with metal btw, I’ve always kinda loved it but I am a pink and rainbows and unicorns kind of girl that could never pull off black, skulls, black eyeliner, spikes…any of the things that make the Metal, Goth, punk etc. aesthetic. But I’ve always dabbled here and there with all of those genres. They fulfill my one of my unseen inner selves I guess.
My favorite performance of this is still when Ryeowook came back from the military and surprised the Tokyo audience in one of ss7 I think. He popped off with his vocals.

They honestly did such a great job (as they always do) with performing this song considering two of their main vocalists (Ryeowook and Kyuhyun) were in the military at this time and Yesung really carried their ad-libs. What's funny is that during the release of Mamacita, Yesung was the one in the military and not in the promotions. I'm so glad they all got to finish their military services.
