      I've had a couple of viewers message me and ask me if we have done any paid reviews. They were not even being "haters" or "trolls." They just were curious to know, so thought we'd remind everybody again about how we operate. There are many hundreds of new subscribers every day, and most of them have not seen many videos yet. We don't mind making sure people are aware; we're actually proud of being able to do this for a living, receiving support ONLY from sources of stuff we do not review.

    For those that didn't know: .500 magnum and .50 bmg (military etc.) are both a 1/2 inch or 12,7mm diameter round(by designation, though some manufacturers fiddle with the numbers:)). The main visual difference is that the .500 magnum has a straight case, while the .50 bmg has a longer .70 calibre (17,78mm) case necked down to .50. I am by no means an expert, I simply enjoy learning things and thought someone might find this interesting. And I thought the mm equivalent could help our metric oriented friends appreciate our interest in these extraordinary firearms. Thanks and God Bless Y'all

    The Encore Pro Hunter was originally developed for hunting moose in the thick cedar swamps of northern Maine. Its fast handling, compact design is ideal for hunting large game in the brush country. The combination of its 20 inch barrel, adjustable rear peep sight, and fiber-optic front sight teamed with hard-hitting caliber offerings of .500 S&W Magnum, .460 S&W Magnum and 45/70 Government clearly demonstrate its brush-busting capabilities. All of this in a 7 pound, 34.5 inch package that includes a recoil-taming Flex-Tech stock and Simms recoil pad, the Pro Hunter Katahdin handles and shoots as good as it looks.

      The big horn armory, is a very small gun company. It's not difficult to talk directly to the president of the company with in 48 hours. Because of that they are trying extra to develop their name and keep high quality. Since each gun is hand made , I think that increases quality. Plus its cool to get in contact fast.

    Anyone can build an expensive rifle! Building a well built, well designed, affordable rifle is much more impressive to me! The Marlin looks a little prettier to me. It has more defined metal work and nicer blueing. When one rifle is 5X-6X as much as a similar item it has to do something that more affordable one does not do. It does not have engraving and the wood is better but not 6X better. THe metal work is not any better that I can tell. It is not 6X more accurate. I doubt the steel is 6X better either. $500-$2500 to $3000 really demands some serious added value to be worthwhile!Look what you get for $3000 in a bolt action rifle. It will either have insanely good wood and blueing with engraving or it will have a premium synthetic stock, custom barrel from someone like Douglass or Bartlin and some blue printing etc....

    • @joemo1033
      @joemo1033 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Different names for the same round. 7.62x54mmR (rimmed)
      Colloquially referred to occasionally as 7.62x54 (though technically incorrect).
      One is the correct designation for the round (R), one is the lazy shortened version (no R). Same round though. There is no round called just 7.62x54, but people leave the R off sometime and call it that anyway because it is just understood.

      Thanks. As we've commented at various times over the years, it's really difficult in the firearms media business (magazines, TV shows, TH-cam videos, etc.) to make any income without being tied to gun makers, to some extent. It's VERY difficult. We've managed to do exactly that by not taking support from anything we review. Like I point out, there ARE some gray areas, but regardless of that, we've always shared with the audience where guns come from pretty much the first minute or two of the first video where they appear.
