In the 1970's I loved Breyer's Vanilla because it only contained 4 ingredients: Milk, Cream, Sugar and real Vanilla with bean specks. It was so pure when it melted over your tongue it was heavenly. At some point Breyer's added in the "all natural" thickeners, guar gum and carrageenan. The vanilla ice cream went from the very best to crap, I won't even buy it now.
I just bought some a month ago. I had yummy memories of eating it with my grandma. It was disgusting and I didn’t know why. I thought maybe I got the wrong flavor of their vanilla. They had three kinds. I didn’t realize they changed it. What a shame.
I had the same experience back in the '70s I loved briers ice cream especially the vanilla. and the strawberry. It left that rich creamy aftertaste in your mouth it was so good. Now it tastes like crap. I haven't bothered with it for a long long time. I'm sure they have no idea of how much business they have lost.
I am allergic to carageenan which is made from red seaweed/algae which is in EVERYTHING these days. I think its bcuz its a cheap thickener. It's in yogurts, ice cream, popsicles, soups, salad dressings, all ice cream sold at restaurants too, etc. So I am very limited on what I can have. Breyers does have a few flavors that are carageenan free, u just have to make sure to read the labels. I do miss when ice cream just had the natural ingredients. So much of our store bought food has too many chemicals & preservatives in them nowadays..
Breyer's is no longer a quality brand as they changed their formulation years ago. We stopped eating it because it's now like all the other junk ice creams in grocery stores. It's soupy, gummy and packed with way too much sugar and I believe has much less dairy fat than when it was a hard ice cream.
I grew up loving Breyer's ice cream with Butter Almond my favorite then Vanilla. So I can't tell you how disappointing it has been for many years every time I have to walk past their spot in the ice cream section to another brand that still uses only 4 ingredients for their natural ice cream. I don't know WTF "Breyer's" was thinking when they decided to destroy a perfectly great product that was in high demand ! Truly beyond comprehension.

Breyers contains a gelatinous gum that never melts. And the gum traps air bubbles so unlike premium ice cream which fully liqueurs , bryers ends up turning largely into a gross only partially liquid sticky foam when warmed over.
yup just saw a video of a guy comparing Breyers to other ice cream brands. He left all ice creams out for 10 days. The Breyers ice cream did not melt too much and formed mold on it plus had this disgusting liquid on the bottom. I was born in 2001 so I don't know how Breyers used to taste like.

I noticed while in the supermarket that their “Natural vanilla ice cream” no longer even has real vanilla in it or even eggs. It now lists “natural flavor” as an ingredient instead of vanilla bean. The cheap vegetable gums they use allow them to cut out half the cream otherwise needed and all of the eggs.
Breyershasn't been the same for a long time. My dad used to love it, then stopped buying it. Tasty-kakes lost their quality too. Shame, as prices go up, the quality goes down, along with the size and volume.

I guess it's a couple of dollars a pound now. Another such food, sweet potatoes/yams, costs like orchard fruit. It grows annually under the ground for Christ's sake. Hot dogs were cheap and good. Now they are neither. In fact the Surgeon General has cursed them. Bad for health. Well, a carcinogenic preservative probably. Just look around at how once cheap but good items have been "boutiqued" and are now neither. I don't know where their market is, but it isn't me. Doughnuts. Krispy Kremes were 10 cents. Now a dollar each. Popsicle/ice cream bars 10 cents to a dollar. I notice when inflation is rumored, these things don't go up 5 or 10%, they go up 50% at once. On an annual basis, this eats me up. Thing is, I can't think of a cheap thrill that hasn't been exploited out the yin yang.
Breyer's used to be my "go to" ice cream. Then I got fooled and bought a large quart, formerly a half gallon, of what air thought was ice cream but in fine print I found it was frozen dessert. It was terrible. Had to throw it out.
When Breyer’s changed their product And packaged in smaller containers At the same price. . . It was too much after Breyer’s had pulled Fudge Vanilla Twirl-their version of Fudge Ripple- I stopped eating Breyer’s forever. Even if they brought Fudge Vanilla Twirl back From their Ice Cream Graveyard. . . I would be loathe to buy Breyer’s again.
I watched this video yesterday. Today (21 JUN 2021) went to Walmart and checked the ingredients in Breyers. (Didn't go just for that) The natural strawberry is: Milk, strawberries, cream, sugar, whey, vegetable gum (tara). $3.88 -1.5 quarts, still made by Unilever and the carton says: Ice Cream. It was pretty good. I think it would be better if it said: Milk, THEN cream. All in all it was quite good. The Natural Vanilla is: Milk, cream, sugar, whey, tara. They also have chocolate and peach cobbler. It used to be gritty years ago but this is smooth.
i see a lot of comments saying they changed and are no good anymore. There was some change years ago that sucked. But my experience lately with the ICE CREAM versions is quite good. The chocolate is amazing.
I ate Breyers ice cream for years. Im 58. It was my all time favorite, I would purchase nothing else. Then it started to change. The packaging got cheaper and the taste was not as good. I tried calling the 1800 number, which they said to call if you had any questions or concerns, and could never get through. I finally gave up but kept eating their ice cream because it was still okay. Then about 15 years ago was the last straw, it was changed again. Now it tastes like whipped cream compared to the once amazing ice cream it use to be. The only brand that comes close now is Haagen Doz. If only the younger generation could have tasted how great your ice cream use to be.
Lol that totally figures about them barely using any real vanilla. Cheap bastards, all about the money. I truly hope that class action lawsuit goes thru, cus it should! They SHOULD have to pay and pay big for the deception!
My favorite Ice Cream is the Haagan Daz Chocolate covered Coffee-filled ice cream bar Mini's... Hands down my favorite Breyer's flavor is the Chocolate w/ Truffles followed by the Mint Chocolate Chip...
This has been my go to brand since childhood. It has simple ingredients like cream, sugar and fruit, chocolate or nuts and NOT a bunch of chemicals I can't pronounce.
The package of non dairy I just purchased for my five year old grandson says in fine print on the back, “contains a bioengineered food product” wtf breyers, up yours breyers!!
Breyer's Ice cream is what used to be called "ice milk". Nothing wrong with it - just a lower fat/lower calorie version of ice cream. Soft serve ice cream from trucks and places like Dairy Queen is also ice milk.
I wonder what Breyers tasted like pre 1900 and pre 1926. I know people who ate Breyers in the 60s and 70s; they said it was the best of the brands you could buy in the store. It's still pretty good today especially the chocolate.
@@illiamway9542 It used to be the best ice cream ever, 40 years ago when I used to be able to buy it only at “Health Food Stores”. Once Nestle bought them and years later it’s not quite as awesome but just pretty good. I wish they had stayed small!
I’ve done the “meltdown” test with every Ice Cream that I’ve bought. Breyer’s is a total failure. So is Walmart’s Great Value brand. It doesn’t look right when melted ☹️🤢🤮. I’m a fan of Tillamook Ice Cream. 😋
I recently purchased a “ 1/2gallon approximately, of vanilla oat milk ice cream for my grandchildren. To my dismay, on the side label it said” contains a bioengineered food product”. I complained via email and requested a refund or coupon. I’ll see what happens! Although, I had tasted before I read the label, and the taste was surprisingly good, but I always thought Breyer’s used superior natural ingredients. I was wrong. Bioengineered reminds me of the rna covid vaccine! The reason I purchased is that my 5 year old grandson has Crohn’s disease and dairy products are one of the foods he avoids.
Too late; I literally just bought some half an hour ago. 😅 I've actually never had the brand before. I was just buying it to try it out. I also saw that you can buy an ice cream maker for less than $200. So I'll probably splurge on one sometime soon, and then I will have real ice cream whenever I want. 😊
Brought to you by the Ice Cream Companies against Breyers Consortium. I bought a 1/2 gallon of French Vanilla and a 1/2 gallon of Rocky Roads last week with absolutely no complaints, in fact I got an attaboy for buying these products. Now, I understand your concern, but as a consumer, I've tried most other brands in this price range and find Breyers to be the cream of the crop. This just in Kool Ade is not Kool and is 100% Ade free. Kool Ade Mascot was arrested after breaking through another wall in a housing project and is looking at life in prison for repeated offenses including breaking into the homes of your girls and screaming "Oh Yeah".
I love the natural vanilla Breyers ice cream but they stopped putting in a lot less vanilla beans. But it’s still taste better than any other vanilla ice cream.
Breyers has a few flavors with no corn syrups. Natural vanilla, strawberry and neopolitan. There are very few ice reams on the market that do not have high fructose corn syrup these days.
The reason these corporations get away with this is bc they're all getting tax breaks. We, my spouse and I love ice cream. We generally buy from Braums. It's a company formed in Oklahoma with their own dairy. We buy their meat, milk, eggs, and bread. They're not fake foods. There's something to this. Why they're putting bad ingredients in all of our foods.
The non dairy-free items are made from almond milk? I would have expected the dairy-free products to be made from almond milk but not the non dairy-free ones. I'm really confused. 7:02
I remember when Bryers commercials had kids reading the ingredients because they were simple. Now most of their flavors aren’t even considered ice cream anymore
Latest Snickers had about 5% bar chunks in it and they were very small. The French Vanilla didn’t even taste like it was from the same company and it had a weak flavor. Both were creamy.
The last 2 carton of Peanut Butter Chocolate ice cream I bought from Walmart was missing the peanut butter?!? My kids took the entire ice cream out of the container to look for the peanut butter and we found none. Is that a human or machine error? What are the odds that 2 seperate cartons that were bought weeks apart would be missing the peanut butter?
If Kraft came out with a whole new version with the original ice cream recipe for Breyers they would own the market. People would pay more for quality and that original vanilla milkfat flavor

Complete junk food! Not even tasty 🤮
Sadly, most Americans are not familiar with a high quality and super tasty ice cream
Breyers is all water . I love Talenti
Breyers is nasty. Doesn’t taste like real ice cream at all?!
Hm? Not used to the taste of natural ACTUAL tastes?
I am so sick of the word “natural” trees that grow in the forest are “natural” but I don’t wanna eat them this world is so messed up!
Uranium is completely natural but you wouldn't want to eat it.
@@envyus9634 cow dung is all natural but it’s not good to eat.
We’re a Blue Bunny and Blue Bell family
Blue bell....
I haven't seen Blue Bell in years
We're a cold stone and bluesters family
moved to texas and ive fallen in love with blue bell
@@leodigiosia9418 yesss, its amazing
Breyer's used to be my "go to" ice cream. Then I got fooled and bought a large quart, formerly a half gallon, of what air thought was ice cream but in fine print I found it was frozen dessert. It was terrible. Had to throw it out.
Well I will have to try the lactose free kind of Bryers. I want to see how it stacks up against the other brand!
what a drama
The only real ice cream taste in Texas is 'Blue Bell' ice cream!
HEB brand ice cream too
Blue Bells secret sauce is…Listeria! Oh yum!
Used to be the best ice cream on earth. It has changed over the years. 😔
When Breyer’s changed their product
And packaged in smaller containers
At the same price. . .
It was too much after Breyer’s had pulled
Fudge Vanilla Twirl-their version of Fudge Ripple-
I stopped eating Breyer’s forever.
Even if they brought Fudge Vanilla Twirl back
From their Ice Cream Graveyard. . .
I would be loathe to buy Breyer’s again.
Breyers Ice Cream was a very good ice cream. I am suprised at this. Blue Bell is King here in Texas so, I havent had Breyers since I lived up north.
Braun's from Oklahoma. We haven't had it in years, but it still is our family's favorite. Absolutely love it! They have their own dairy.
Correction Braum's
Take breyers ice cream put a scoop in a bowl set it on your counter and let it sit there for 4 hours and see what it looks like you'll be amazed.
I scream, you scream, we all scream "Disgusting."
i see a lot of comments saying they changed and are no good anymore.
Breyer's butter almond was my favorite can't find it no more
Same here!
I couldn't find it in my supermarket for a few months, so I looked at their website at the flavors that they offered and Butter Almond was not there.
I love Breyer's. I like slighter ice cream and I like how milk-y it is.
I always felt Dreyers ice cream tasted better. Breyer's doesn't seem to have much fat content in it to make it very creamy in my opinion.
I make my own 😋😋 Creamy and delicious 😋😋
smart, good for you and your family will be better off....
Here in Canada the absolute best , is CHAPMANS, made in a small town in Markdale Ontario,. Also their frozen yogurt,,yum yum. 🤗🤗🇨🇦
Breyers ice cream tastes disgusting 🤢
disappointing......As a child I really liked Breyer's.
Not anymore. It is full of chemicals today. I am very disappointed
For years, I ate nothing but Breyer's Butter Almond Ice Cream.....best flavor they have ever had. But I haven't seen it in 20 years. 🤔
Breyer's Ice cream is what used to be called "ice milk". Nothing wrong with it - just a lower fat/lower calorie version of ice cream. Soft serve ice cream from trucks and places like Dairy Queen is also ice milk.
Our mom couldn’t remember which ice cream we didn’t like, so we told her B is for Breyers, B is for bad.
The absolute best ice cream is the way Breyer started out with ice and hand cranking it.
Best ice cream is Tillamook ! Price is high but, they use extra cream. Our favorite flavor is "Peaches and Cream". So good . . .
Then All Natural, now Chemical Shit Storm
You’re a 100% correct!
I wonder what Breyers tasted like pre 1900 and pre 1926. I know people who ate Breyers in the 60s and 70s; they said it was the best of the brands you could buy in the store. It's still pretty good today especially the chocolate.
I make my own in a cuisenart electric ice cream maker. That way, I know exactly what the ingredients are.
i miss Breyer's Coffee flavored ice cream... but thanks for this episode.
Yum, I wish I can try that. Sounds amazing.
Haagen-Dazs coffee ice cream is awesome
@@illiamway9542 It used to be the best ice cream ever, 40 years ago when I used to be able to buy it only at
“Health Food Stores”. Once Nestle bought them and years later it’s not quite as awesome but just pretty good. I wish they had stayed small!
I haven't had breyers ice cream since last month and I really want some of it
I’ve done the “meltdown” test with every Ice Cream that I’ve bought. Breyer’s is a total failure. So is Walmart’s Great Value brand. It doesn’t look right when melted ☹️🤢🤮.
I’m a fan of Tillamook Ice Cream. 😋
Tillamook is the best!
Viennetta was really good. It wasn't like normal ice cream. It seemed to be more aerated. It was much lighter.
Too late; I literally just bought some half an hour ago. 😅
I've actually never had the brand before. I was just buying it to try it out.
I also saw that you can buy an ice cream maker for less than $200. So I'll probably splurge on one sometime soon, and then I will have real ice cream whenever I want. 😊
Breyers natural vanilla is my favorite regardless of whats in it or whats not in it.
Sometimes I think like this too.
Breyer's ice cream no longer the same as years ago , not very good ice cream .
much like KFC which also doesn't taste as good as it did when I was a kid
Brought to you by the Ice Cream Companies against Breyers Consortium.
I bought a 1/2 gallon of French Vanilla and a 1/2 gallon of Rocky Roads last week with absolutely no complaints, in fact I got an attaboy for buying these products.
Now, I understand your concern, but as a consumer, I've tried most other brands in this price range and find Breyers to be the cream of the crop.
This just in
Kool Ade is not Kool and is 100% Ade free.
Eddie Murphy's step-father, Vernon Lynch, was a foreman at the Breyers' Ice Cream plant in Brooklyn, New York.
Breyers has a few flavors with no corn syrups. Natural vanilla, strawberry and neopolitan. There are very few ice reams on the market that do not have high fructose corn syrup these days.
Ice cream that doesn't melt is not ice cream. Check the different brands out! Test it yourself!!!
My Breyers melts.
Used to be halfway decent. Now it sucks.
Not a fan of Breyers it’s not like it used to be very chemically flavored. Our family prefers the local brand Perry’s ice cream
I don't care what anyone says, the Magnum Caramel bars are freaking BOMB! Expensive as hell tho for 3 freaking bars in a pack.
Haven"t bought Breyer"s Ice Cream in years. This stuff doesn't even melt. End's up like a thick past.
Why would gluten be a ingredient in ice cream anyway?
The non dairy-free items are made from almond milk? I would have expected the dairy-free products to be made from almond milk but not the non dairy-free ones. I'm really confused. 7:02
I remember when Bryers commercials had kids reading the ingredients because they were simple. Now most of their flavors aren’t even considered ice cream anymore
Breyer's Vanilla Fudge Twirl is still my favorite. Or their Chocolate.
Thankful for my Ninja Creami and can make delicious ice cream in about 5 minutes and know exactly what goes into it!
Breyers used to be good in the 80s but it is absolute trash now
Latest Snickers had about 5% bar chunks in it and they were very small. The French Vanilla didn’t even taste like it was from the same company and it had a weak flavor. Both were creamy.
I love Breyers ice cream
No longer all natural ingredients. No longer good.
Several varieties are kind of crumbly instead of smooth and creamy
Eating breyers cookie dough frozen dairy dessert and it's so delicious
I don't like breyers. Mitchell's is my favorite!
If Kraft came out with a whole new version with the original ice cream recipe for Breyers they would own the market. People would pay more for quality and that original vanilla milkfat flavor
The quality went south when they went national.
