Right here with ya! What shipping did you use!? That's where Im stumped! I think due to overall efficiency of wanting to sell everything quickly - I am leaning towards getting Mercari labels vs doing it on my own. Open to advice! I LOVE the Post process and how smooth it is- but it can seem expensive to some- I get that!

I don't recommend dropping any Mercari package off ,without being sure package receives a scan and you obtain a tracking receipt. For example if you leave your package in your mail box or insert it inside a usps blue box , if lost or stolen and it has no scan or you have no receipt. You will be out of luck demonstrating proof that you even did so, also Mercari protection will not cover a non scanned tracking item without receipt . Its always best hand off in person and get your tracking receipt. Reason i say this , i gave my package to an on duty mail courier whom was dropping mail off at a CVS and my package never made it to the processing center nor did it receive a scan. So therefore Mercari kept alerting me to drop package off. I will never ever do that again. Luckily package was located and then shipped. I understand not everyone is able to run a package down post office daily but if you do a scheduled pickup be sure your mail courier scans your package upon retrieving.
My mail carrier whoever it is for the day, always scans my package

I agree because I’ll always take it to the post office and hand to them or have it immediately picked up by a DoorDash driver to avoid package theft and getting bad reviews being forced to cancel and cancellations rates it’ll show ur cancellation rate will be shown on your public profile if the buyer understands then ur mostly good 👍🏾 so yea unless ur in a hurry the next day go head but be cautious 👍🏾

You can drop of Smartpost at a drop off location (Ex: Walgreens). It states in the directions that you can do this.

I am a little nervous that I made an error on the weight though, I weighed the item and the box after I bubble wrapped and tapped the box shut.
But then after I tapped the shipping label on the box (used alot of tape) most likely I should have made the label much smaller, but after that I realized the label said 15.9oz, I'm not sure why it said that? But I don't remember typing in the weight either.
So the wind up was the package weighed 1.04oz which was .4oz over what the label says.
I told them at the post office but they said whoever bought it must have paid shipping, but the me and the buyer have a tracking number, I just hope it ships properly ugh lol.
Sorry for the long rant but I have no one to bounce ideas off of in this department, I did sign up with your link as well, definitely to say thank you for your knowledge and sharing it.

Thank you for sharing about your experience with FedEx Smart Post. I was under impression that I have to drop it off at FedEx which is far from my home and I have ignored this option. THe fact that USPS will accept it, it gives me an option.
Your video is great and explains so much! I do have one question - when you opt to pay the shipping, do you wrap that into the price of the item. I know that psychologically, buyers like to see Free Shipping. I am starting to use a crossposting app so whatever I have the item listed for on PM, it transfers over to Mercari, eBay etc. I'm wondering have you ever had someone check the pricing on one of your items on the other platforms and discover it's higher by adding Free Shipping. Actually the weight can be higher for Usps priority flat rate it just needs to fit and the flap needs to close. It’s $8.70 things like lotion shirt can fit in an envelope or small box plus it has its standard insurance that comes with it

Hi thanks for your information. I am new to selling on Mercari and had my first sale, was so excited. I took my item and my shipping label to postal connections and I had to pay extra for their packaging. I should have watched you first 😒
Just wanted to add because I see it says drop off locations is for Fedex Home and not Fedex Smart Post. I always drop off my FedEx Smart Post at Walgreens which is a drop off location. They scan the top portion of the label and not the bottom location and send a text message for receipt after scanning.
1. Unless you want to pay the shipping, you should always add the shipping cost into the price of your item if you are not using buyer pays shipping. Many are turned off when seeing the shipping cost separate. Many buyers already know the shipping cost is likely in the item price. 2. Just to be on the safe side, always put dimensions. Ive heard of people who didn't and got burned and ended up owing money. The rate that calculates is based on both those factors. 3. Always, get a scan receipt of the item you are shipping. Should the pkg get lost, there would be no proof that you actually shipped the item. I keep the scan receipt w/my proof of sale for tax purposes. Great informative video. You will help many be successful.

So my question is I got my thermal printer and free supplies from UPS can I use the free envelopes that say UPS to ship my items even though I don’t use UPS for my shipping?
