    I have Asus RT-N12E router since 2013. It's five years old now. All those years, this router was a pain in the a$$, disconnecting and having all kinds of problems.

    I would like to use my router as an extender, not replace the one I have. Can you do a video showing how to use the ASUS N300-RT-N12 as an extender? I need to have wireless internet outside, thanks.

    I can’t get this router to reset. I bought this a few years ago, I couldn’t get it to work. The router I bought to replace it just broke. I can’t get to the website to set it up. It constantly says no internet connection. It’s definitely plugged in to the modem.

    Do you have any info on how to set it up as an extender? I have an RT-N66U but the wireless doesn't reach the back of the house & the ethernet hub/switch we use just died. I would like to set it up like a switch/hub so other computers/devices can connect to it w/ ethernet and wireless.
    Since the N66U uses the same URL, I will need to change the default URL for the N12 so I can login to the correct one.

    Hey man, I only have my modem from my ISP and I'm currently using it as my "router". I'm planning on buying this, can i just directly connect it to the modem or do I need another router?

    • @HomeNetworkCentral
      @HomeNetworkCentral  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You connect this router directly to the modem. So all you need is your one modem and this one router.

    • @battousaix4263
      @battousaix4263 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HomeNetworkCentral Awesome, thanks for the quick reply bro. Unfortunately, I just found out that our internet only goes up to 5 mbps max, so i doubt any router could help me lol. Thanks again!

    • @HomeNetworkCentral
      @HomeNetworkCentral  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A router won't make your connection faster. but it will allow you to connect more than one device to the internet and give you Wi-Fi. Do you have a modem or is it a modem router combo?

    • @battousaix4263
      @battousaix4263 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HomeNetworkCentral A modem router combo, since the whole family's connected to it. Yeah i know that, but the modem router my isp provides is notorious for being trash, and a lot of people are replacing it with third party ones and suddenly they're getting the full speed they should have(from getting 5 mb to suddenly getting the 20 mb they were offered for example) I usually get only like 500 kbps or even less so I thought maybe getting a new router could at least help us get to like 2 or 3 mb.

    As an update, I just got this & tried to set it up but it isn't working. I tried setting it up without internet at first bc I had to run it through the other router's internet and the other router is an ASUS and has the same default url. I currently don't have a computer that can connect to the internet in the same room as the modem. I tried my old laptop but the ethernet port is not detecting any cables (I tried different cables so it's the port that is borked).
    I tried setting it up on a different computer that has an ethernet cord run from the router on the other side of the house but it went pearshaped. I also tried to reset the new router but it didn't reset. What can I do?

    • @HomeNetworkCentral
      @HomeNetworkCentral  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep it's a decent router! No complaints from me. It only has 2.4GHz though, so it will be competing with many other routers if they are close by. But if there aren't a lot of other networks, this router should work great!

    my question is: If you have a router that is super far away how are you supposed to use it?

    • @HomeNetworkCentral
      @HomeNetworkCentral  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could buy a repeater. Or use an old router that has repeater mode in the settings. Or move closer to the router. Or use a wired connection. Or get one of those network adapters that works through your electrical outlets.

    • @bigrig8539

      You could also us MoCa (multimedia over coax) if you have cable tv because it can transmit ethernet speeds throughout your house.

    • @Solodam
      @Solodam 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Some ISP-s think that its a good idea to to filter connected devices by MAC,
      but most of them wont do that, so changing a router is an easy thing to do :)

      It's called Ethernet it's faster and more reliable than wifi

    • @AbsolutnieNieSzymon
      @AbsolutnieNieSzymon 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      1. There are computers that cannot use wi-fi without buying wi-fi card
      2. As person before me said: ethernet is more reliable and faster than wi-fi
      3. To configure a router you need to connect computer to a router via cable (some of them can be set via wi-fi, but not majority of them)
      4. Not all routers are also wi-fi access points (that means you can use it only by ethernet). This one actually is, but keep in mind that router are not always wi-fi capable
