I like side mounted finger print so much. Its very fast and convenient. You just pick up the phone and bam, its unlocked. Under-display in midrange is very slow as it is not ultrasonic. So unless one is using flagship series mobile, side-mounted is best.

The problem with display sensors is that usually, they are positioned way too low. You have you actively stretch and bend your thumb to get it. But with side mounted? Your hand is already in a natural position to get it without even thinking about it. You pick up your phone and it just automatically unlocks. This works with both hands as well. I have mine set up to use the lower part of my middle and ring fingers as the way I hold the phone usually puts them near the power button. You don't have to think about it
if you ask me under display i prefer as it seems easier and for both fingers unlike in side mount cause for one hand you also need to mount your hand considering if phone is also bulky

I have had those same concerns, but my side mounted is pretty thin and my sleeping position usually makes it so I can wake up before they even get close. Although, I have had to get rid of face ID because of this
