Honestly I am tired of the curve now 😅, want to go for a flat display...
Personal opinion as to why I would go with a flat display, is the actual screen which u see, while consuming media.
When u put a curved & flat screen phone side by side, On a curved screen, eventhough theoretically the screen might be the same size, the flat display will look bigger. (Assuming both displays are sAmoleds or oleds and look top notch).
As I use my phone for consuming alot of media, I would definitely go for a bigger screen.
Haan, when it comes to in - hand feel and aesthetic, there is no beating the curve 😉

Curve displays are very good for increasing the display area in the same form factor, makes phone look more attractive or aesthetic! It makes things a little bit pop out (as GT bhaiya said) but... it's expensive to implement, it can break/shatter easily on small accidents, also we all know about accidental touches while gaming!
So overall flat display is more practical and strong but curve display is also practical but not for gamers!

I love curved displays, and I have been using them. However, the main problem lies in using a glass protector and UV glue. If you cannot properly apply the UV glass protector, it can potentially damage various components of your device, such as the speaker, receiver, and buttons. Curved display is good but you know the problem is not with the screen, the problem is with the tempered glass. It caches aur bubbles very easily and it's very expensive so you can't change it time to time. So it has it's own advantages and disadvantages. Source : Vivo v27

I personally like curved display. I was using flat display previously for around 7 years since I started using a smartphone. And right now I have OnePlus 11r. Yes curved display come with huge precautions but the bezel-less display, the feeling of swiping using the edge on curve and the looks is just amazing. You can't say flat display is better than curved just based on the costly screen protection and damage if the phone falls. Any phone can get damaged if it falls. Its upto you to use it properly.

@@jatinjadav1097 never had an experience where the texts were at the edge. Its always on the flat screen. But I did get some buttons like 'close' and 'go back' icons on edge which I had to touch twice to get it work. Not a deal breaker. But hey, you like the bezel to give a definition and that's good for you

I've been using the one plus 8 pro with a curved display for the past 3 years. Reality is there is no real life use of the curve. It may look a bit expensive but other than that there's no use. I faced so much problem while buying a screen protector. You don't find any good screen protector in the market. The ones that are there are either very costly or don't cover the entire screen. Even the costly ones are not that good. The break so easily. Sometimes content gets lost in curve. You also face some problem while working on the curves of the phone (photo , video editing) . I'll choose a flat screen anyday without a second thought.

Curved displays with good cases give no issues, as per my experience. Curved 2.5D) or flat, doesn't matter, what matters is the quality of display itself (brightness, colour accuracy, etc.) For last 3-4 phones I personally haven't used any screen protectors, just saying, latest one being Oneplus 10 Pro with Sandstone case.

The screen guard doesn't last longer as it is curved air gets inside through the curved edges. Better to to use it without screen guard.

Just imagine you are watching a video with subtitles in a curved display (fullscreen), where will the subtitles be located?
And not only that. There are many more issues too.
For example you are reading something on the screen, you will have to tilt the screen to be able to reach the edges

As a OnePlus 11 owner.. i simply love the screen... But not having a screen guard and feeling anxious everytime my phone falls is just too bad for the returns. Even a simple transparent screen protector chips from the side and makes my premium phone look like a cheap one so literally not using anything and just wishing bhagwan iski rakhsha krein scratches aur breaking dono se.

I have been using Mate20 pro for about 4 n a half years now and the display is just gorgeous.
I haven't applied a screen guard and apart from a few scratches the display is still good.
A few downsides as mentioned by you, gaming experience, especially PUBG, the curve disturbs the view a bit and placement of icons on the edges ruins the experience.
Replacing the screen will definitely be expensive and applying screen guard by own isn't viable option either.
Anyway, I would still buy a curved display phone and I can't compromise on that.
The new Honor 90 seems to be a solid phone, display and camera wise, but no OIS !!!
I wish they release Vivo X90 Pro Plus in India 😢

In my personal opinion, curved displays gets u a lot of attention, like I still take off the case and look at how gorgeous the display feels.
That's it, that is the only advantage you have on a curved display.
But I like how people ogle at my phone 😂.
So if u r someone who likes to have that feeling, go buy the best sleek curved display phone and show off.
