@@HEXEDGUITARCHAOS Huh? "Busted using a metronome"? Pretty sure Eloy, doesn't play to a click. And even if he did, you can't get "busted" for it because it's not illegal or something. Most drummers play to a click, and it's not like a click make you either a good or a bad drummer. You can play to a click and still be bad. But yeah, it possible Eloy uses one at times, or when playing certain songs he just learned. But he most definitely doesn't use one a lot of the time.

Slipknot’s drummer story is remarkably similar to Metallica’s bassist story:
    - An irreplaceable legendary original member who tragically passed away too young, leaving an incredibly legacy. (Cliff Burton/Joey Jordison)
    - A fan-favorite who was adored by fans yet never really treated fairly by the band, filling impossible shoes and forever remaining in the original’s shadow. (Jason Newstead/Jay Weinberg)
    - A career musician who’s talent is far beyond the band itself and their involvement brings new life and will see them into retirement. (Robert Trujillo/Eloy Casagrande)

For me personally Jay Weinberg stepped in to fill in some very big shoes after Joey left and I respect what he has done in keeping the metal machine that is Slipknot running until they found the drummer that could bring the original energy and drive that Joey brought into the band from its inception till the day he left. Jay was the drummer who punched well above his weight class in keeping things going after Joey Jordinson and I deeply respect him for it.
NOTE: It's really not about Jay Weinberg being the best drummer for Slipknot. Of course, he was no Joey Jordinson or Eloy Casagrande. He stepped in to keep the Slipknot machine running after Joey until they brought in Eloy. And as a Slipknot fan, I thank him (Jay) for it. Some of you mofos are just downright bitter and vitriolic. Edit: On second thought... After reading the lyrics more closely, yeah Eloy's flourishes there make a lot more sense and definitely add to something. The crazy fill right after Corey screams, "Reaching out for the hand of God | But did you think you'd shake your own?" really makes sense. That's a powerful line. It's almost as if something broke inside the narrator of the song and Eloy's capturing that.

Personally I think they both are awesome. I grew up listening to Joey. Then Jay, now Eloy.
Coming from a drummer. In the recordings Jay is using his JW48 PLY (His signature snare drum) in Eloys, he is playing with the new Tama Bell Brass. (50th edition? Someone correct me if I am wrong.) Soooo...yes the 48 ply sings pretty loud..but a bell brass? Wanna know why you can hear every single ghost note? It's because if a mouse walked across the drum you would hear it 🤣 i feel like a lot of people are saying Eloy mainly because his recording is louder, and he hits harder. No way am I saying Jay is better, but i feel like they both have their things that make them belong in knot 🤟

Jay is a fantastic drummer and whilst with Slipknot made some great music.
Eloy is just other worldly though, he brings something extraordinary and quite unique to the table, much like Duplantier in Gojira or Carey with Tool. People that operate in the upper echelon of Rock/Metal drummers and will always elevate whatever band they play in.

that's understandable. eloy is more of a "drummers favorite drummer" that primarily only musicians can understand and appreciate. jay is much more simple which is more attractive to non musicians. its more "radio friendly" so to speak

I’m definitely going to miss Jay since He played at 2 of my favorite of the 4 times I’ve seen Slipknot live, Both supporting The Gray Chapter. The times prior were supporting All Hope is Gone and Mayhem 2012. Personal feelings, I’ll have to actually see them live with Eloy before I can for sure say I prefer him to Jay, But that’s the beauty of music, After a certain level It becomes more about personal preference than “whose better than who”.
