Yay! The long-awaited TH-cam ads video! Thank you!
Really appreciate this video, Andrew!
Woahhh, game changer! Earned my sub frfr💯
Amazing video. Thank you!!!
Thanks for the info man!
That trick is crazy - love it
Thanks Andrew! Using this video to help me 2 months later! (had it saved)!
Was hoping I’d find a new video from you, Andrew!
Legendary. Working wonders for one of the artists
Great video, Andrew!
Have you compared running TH-cam ads through Google Ads Manager vs. Running them directly on TH-cam itself?
Curious what the difference in performance is.
When I click website traffic campaign, the only add goal option I get is 'get directions'. Any help?
Works Like a Charm! 👌
Awesome man, glad it worked for you!

would you recommend a vv ad and a youtube sub ad to even things out
Hey Andew, thanks for this tutorial. I have tried the subscription code but this works only for computers not for mobile phones.
hey andrew. When i go to do the video catagory for website traffic. it takes me through a process and tells me i need to setup a google tag in order to track the conversions. was this setup on your end before the video? i cant seem to get it to work.
Thanks for the video! The minimum budget for this ads became almost 5 dollars per day! Why is so high??
Question - do you still qualify for the TH-cam play button plaques if you use ads for subs? I believe I read/heard somewhere that you don't qualify but I'm not positive. Any insight on that, would be great
stuck trying to get the conversion to work. doesn't let me create one for youtube subs
Hey there! I noticed I don't have the "Engagement" event type available in my settings. Any advice on enabling it? Thanks!
same
great video, i like the hack trick
thanks one more time for the awesome video!! youtube is asking me to setup a conversion tracking? how do i do that for this specific tutorial? thanks a lot!
Im going to attempt to try and help since I had the same issue but cant understand how I fixed it. All I did was create a random conversion tracking and after like 10 minutes I was able to see the option show up to create a new engagement one.
im having the same problem!!! the look in that conversion area does not look like andrews at all. super frustrating
Totally lost here too. It's asking me to set up a conversion goal but the "website" option asking for a web address - since I'm only concerned with subscribers in youtube I'm stuck.
"Please help! What should I do when TH-cam says that all ads are unsupported due to language? My songs are in Armenian and my language doesn't support in list ...
why does my UI differ, to be specific once I click website traffic -> video I dont have these sub points to set, but something different instead
same
when i click on website traffic, there are no goals showing up ... i go straight to the next section where i can choose "video" ad
same problem
After clicking website traffic for objective, I was prompted with select a campaign type (search, performance max, display, shopping, video, demand gen). I couldn't try your method because I wasn't sure how to proceed. any pointers?
I have the same. You in Australia? Have you figured out if we have the Subscriber target option?
I see guys with 800k subs who only get like 2k views per upload on their recent videos. I’d love a higher subscriber count but I want that to come with a higher view count too.
They bot their accounts too
Yeah, fake followers
I have the same problem with TH-cam ads. The problem is the ads generate subs and likes and views but if you release a video that is not advertised it doesn’t get shown to anyone.
I DO NOT APPROVE THIS METHOD loool. I tried doing this on my main artist channel and it literally ruined the whole channel analytics, I got a bunch of cheap subscribers & likes from a video I promoted, but the subscribers are good for nothing, they don’t engage and are really just a vanity metric. I’m disappointed that Andrew Southworth didn’t disclaimer any of this. I’m even part of his TH-cam and Spotify course. Sad and disappointing.
I’ve used YT ads several times over the past few years and in my case it’s worthless. It’ll generate plays and likes and subs but the next time you release a video it gets basically zero impressions, so nobody sees it. For US/UK/CAN/AUS targeting I can easily get 100 subs for every $10-$20. But then they never see another one of my videos in their feeds unless I run another ad. So the ads are pointless, at least in my case.
So at 250k subs at 5000$ that means 50 subs per 1 Dollar? That's a really solid conversion rate, dayum. I'm running meta ads this month but I'ma try that next month for sure, thanks a lot, growing on both YT and Spotify is probably a good idea anyway! I wonder, how active will those subscribers be though? I reckon a lotta folks will just click subscribe, maybe a few will click on a vid and then forget all about it - and later maybe see "Oh right I subbed to that" and either then click on another video.
Would love a postmortem of this by someone who did it and how much it ACTUALLY impacted their viewer numbers. At the end of the day, subscribers are just a number, while views and watchtime are what youtube ACTUALLY cares about. Being huge subwise with 0 views doesn't do anything afterall :X
Would love an update even via text on how much this actually did for said channel if that's fine data-sharing wise. Or if you got an example YOU did on how useful it was. If of the 50subs/1 Dollar even 10% actually stick around that's pretty dang good.
I've been running youtube ads for a while, and from my own experience, the audience that subscribers very rarely interact with your content afterward
It’s pointless as far as I can tell. You’ll get subs and likes and views on the videos you advertise but any video that is not advertised will not show up in anyone’s feed. So nobody’s going to watch any video that is not advertised, at least in my experience.
Hey Andrew, I'm in Australia and I can't see TH-cam Subs as a an option to target in the website section. Do you know if it's different here or am I missing something?
nope its not working for me either.. :\
I'm trying to make my ad and the Image uploader isn't working at all. The whole "choose your images" section of the ad creator is just constantly loading and buffering and won't load anything. Everything else on the page is woking okay, so it's pretty odd. Is it just me or have you heard this from anybody else? I've refreshed a bunch, same story.
yep same tried this and couldn't get it to work
The Website traffic case is not linked to "conversion goals" anymore.
It depends which version of Google ads you're in. My ad account I still need to use website traffic and I don't have the new dedicated subscribers objective under awareness and consideration. You must have the newer one.
Same! I must be in a newer version of Google Ads as well - choosing "Website Traffic" doesn't give me an "Engagements" option. Instead, it wants me to "set up Conversion Tracking" in order to move forward. I've clicked around the other available Objectives, but unfortunately I can't find "Engagements" as an option. Bummer!!
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. I did this down to a T but when the campaign is finished it says ""inactive conversion tracking" and there's no conversion data. Does anyone else have this issue?
I have not been able to get this to work on mobile. Seems to only work on desktop. Any ideas?
doesn't work on desktop either
I'm having a problem here where I select website traffic as my campaign objective, then, differently to this video, it asks me to select a campaign type (in this case youtube video). When I click on that I'm prompted to set up conversion tracking, instead of seeing a list of conversions that already exist. Help?
yeah.. and the problem i had is i couldn't set up a conversion for actual youtube subs. google ads is garbage
Same! I'm so sorry to hear that it's not working for you either, Zach. I absolutely love the idea that Andrew outlines here.
So i started this as soon as you released it, i see ive gotten 10 subscribers the past 2 days which isnt bad or great but I noticed google ads isnt tracking my conversions and i think this is hurting my results any idea why it woudnt be tracking them? My ads account is linked to my yt page...
How our you buliding subscribers fam?
Hey I tried this and it helped, but i also tried it using just normal video ads i got the views but not subscribes ? Does it only work with ads like website traffic ? Need more videos on this 🤘
Guys help! My ads has been blocked for no reason and facebook arn’t helping !! How do i unblock my account !!
Hey Andrew, you used to recomend search ads. Wondering why you changed to video ad rolls. Do they do better than search in terms of engagement?
I still recommend in feed ads. It’s just for this campaign in this video they make you use multi-format, so it has all the placements on TH-cam including shorts.
@@AndrewSouthworth i see. I was wondering if this would be better for engagement than in feed ads since people already hear a snippet of the song then click to watch more, instead of potentially getting surprised by something that might not match their expectations from just seeing the thumbnail. Keen to hear your thoughts Andrew :)
@andrewsouthworth can you go more into the data of the campaign? You say the campaign budget was 5k that means the cost per conversion would be 0.02$, however when you show the campaign screen it says 0.18-0.84$ cost per conversion and a total spent of 253$.
I´m wondering if all the 250k subs came from the campaign as you said in the intro and if so how you decreased the cost per conversion to eventually hit 0.02$.
The example I mentioned in the intro is not the same campaign I showed data for a bit more in the video. The one I showed did a different set of countries and it was a different artist so it had a different cost per subscriber.
I’m struggling with a Liverpool FC channel is it possible to get Google Ads to target Liverpool fans❤
Any update as to those new subscribers? :D Also if 100% of your subs are not from ads, where else would you suggest to get them from and how would you go about doing that exactly?
The ending url code isn’t working😫
It should work! It won't work when you're logged in to your own account because you can't subscribe to yourself. But you do have to be logged into an account.
Can you use a similar strategy for Instagram followers? Any custom URL for the follow button?
Note self: Be rich. 🤣 but in all seriousness, love this stuff. 🤘
haha unfortunately money has always been a part of the music industry since it started. of course you can grow organically, but most popular music projects anyone has heard of had some type of budget behind pushing it. luckily its never been easier to get into marketing as an indie artist!
Why can't I make the final destination a landing page with smart links to Spotify, Amazon Music, etc.? Can the ads be video ads? In other words, same as Meta/Facebook/Instagram ads, but with Google's pay-per-click - cheaper than Meta's pay per view?
This is my question as well! Would love to replicate the meta/insta ads strategy with TH-cam. Is it possible to use hyppedit smart link click as a conversion objective with google ads?
@@recordloss @theokayboomer9745 You could do these things, but TH-cam is a bit like Spotify where people stay in the app for the music/visual experience and its not quite as "social media"-ish, so people are less likely to leave the app to stream the song elsewhere. YT has reels now but people don't generally use it as a social destination in the same way they do with FB/insta. You'd probably see a really really high cost per conversion rate if any conversions at all. But for TH-cam subscribers specifically this is the probably the most optimized way.
Using google ads on their other native platforms, that's a different story altogether. Hope this helps!
For the first question: Of course you can make the final destination a landing page with smart links to Spotify, Amazon Music, etc. if thats your goal, but this video was made to show us how to grow TH-cam Subs in the most efficiant way. But lets see what Andrew has to say about it.
Have you tried TH-cam conversion ads for Spotify?
Yeah for the most part it either doesn’t work or is super expensive. I spent like $1k trying to make it work and got nowhere.

How do u verify ur account with no buisness
If you don't have a business and they want you to verify, you need to contact customer support and ask them to switch your account to an individual account.

Bro, so I did a few things that could have all worked, but this has to be some type of glitch...900+ SUBS?!?!? I usually run ads on my music video USING the music video....stupid idea. No one cared enough after 5 seconds to keep watching, and those who stayed, got bored after 10 seconds because I hadn't gotten to the chorus or best part. I made 3 high quality MVs and got very little traffic/interaction besides the view count growing and a few subs here and there. So this time I made 3 trailers, different parts of the video, different parts of the song. I ran 3 of these ads without adding the text to the link (although 1 of the 4 ads I ran was using the extra text on the url, BUT using the whole video before switching tactic). I paid $30 for the ad with the extra text on the url, and $15 for each of the 3 ads that had trailers in it. That's $75 total in ads. My subscriber count went from 113 to over 1k in 5 days. Mind you, very few people are interacting with anything, not many likes, no comments at all. Is this a good indication that they're bots?? I'm very confident about my music, the song is great. My notifications have come in for 15 or so new subscribers, which makes sense for a new release. But 900+ and counting?? I started this comment with 1006, and now I'm at 1023...nope, make it 1024.
Love your stuff, But you got such a rich guy outlook lol. Not everyone can spend $100 on ads every week, lol! You go guy
Hey bro! Great vid
Would love to have a chat with you about my experience building my channel. I've figured out a pretty good strategy with the algorithm which seems to work! Let me know :)
Who is the artist?
Sorry I don’t give that out unless I have permission from the artist to share it. In this case, I don’t.
I believe that pop-up only works on a desktop, not mobile device.
Yeah it seems that way, however this campaign still ends up working super good despite that since its optimizing for subscribers.
DANG, MAN! My Ad was going well until Google shut it down because they said it was "Religious"
If you are in the USA why would you spend money to get subscriptions in Europe etc. are you doing shows in those countries, shipping merch etc.
Stream money…..????
My rock band Circuline is streaming in 52 countries, and we have physical merchandise sales in 23 countries. 40% of our audience is in the united states. 60% is outside the United states. We need as many fans as possible around the world, and it doesn't matter to us what country they live in. Some people are streamers. Some people buy physical merchandise. We cannot predict what person is going to do what. So we market on as many fronts as possible. I hope that's a helpful answer to your question. And yes, because of those numbers, we have toured internationally, and plan to do so again in the future. 🎵👍
@@thereesebonneau do you want to be in music business or fantasy. If you want fantasy Chase streams. But you shouldn’t expect a significant roi on money spent on advertising to come from streaming. Advertising builds brand awareness. Build fans around your area where you can do shows/live appearances you can get written up on local paper/blogs. Put your advertising funds in a concentrated effort to build a strong awareness campaign in a focused area. Sell merch and pursue LOCAL sponsorship opportunities. Concentrate on one area that allows you multiple touch points on your budget. Never pursue advertising to make money from streaming. It is something that must happen but that business don’t become profitable till have a great number of listeners. But there so much actual business that needs to happen before that.
There are many artists that don’t play shows or sell merch yet or they have no intention of ever. Some make all their income from digital music sales / streaming, others sell digital products, do livestream concerts, run a successful Patreon etc. For those artists the location doesn’t matter at all.
For the artists that do, they invest in other markets so they can eventually sell merch or tour that region. This type of marketing is top of funnel fan acquisition.
If we can boost us up to 150k Subs each, then I'll send you a Completely Incredible One Of A Kind Blanket and NFT from our Collections!
I've just put £100 into this to see how it works. Let's go!
I'm about to as well. Good Luck!
@@AdamoFiscella Didn't do much for me. How did you get on?
