Honestly the pressure to have a never ending closet in the fashion blogger world is so toxic. The whole idea that you can't ever repeat an outfit is not only unrealistic but not sustainable AT ALL. As a viewer I actually admire the creators and bloggers who find new ways to use pieces from their closet that they already own. I think it is more creative to wear the same basics over and over and just rotate to create new outfits every day and honestly who cares if you are an outfit repeater! We really need to change that mindset that as consumers we need to constantly consume.

@@hollygoulston4237 I think so as well, but I figured to take it in a way of reflecting on the comment and while I agree on some aspects (with what I commented back), I'm hoping they see where I'm coming from and unfortunately I can never make everyone happy. I hope they listened when I said in the video that I didn't want this video to seem like I'm saying everyone needs to have just an excess amount of shoes and hopefully they saw the reason of why I posted the video which was to give information on the shoes that I own (mostly docs), but also with the shoes I've owned for +2 years and still love them.
But it probably was directed at me and unfortunately I am not perfect and nobody is. I always try to comment back to criticism in a friendly manner to get a better understanding of their opinion, but they never commented back so I guess I will never know.

@@franfrankie7 i found this on google, "Wear thicker socks of heavier weight to fill in the gap. Wearing an additional sock liner helps too. You may or may not need to use with thick insoles after that. You can wear 2 or more prs of normal socks before you buy new socks."
also found this, but haven't tried it so i don't know how it would go, "Try soaking your boots in a tub of water for about an hour. Make sure they're fully submerged so they shrink evenly. Then, put on a pair of socks and dip your feet into the water so your socks are saturated. Put your boots on over your wet socks wear them around until they dry off."

Isnt the fact that men and women have a different sizing charts confusing sometimes ? I find it quite weird tbh haha.
kanekiji kids sizes move directly into men’s so a kids 6, then men’s 7, etc. Kids sizes are unisex. Women’s conference about two sizes. So a kids 6 is a women’s 8. Women’s width is one size more narrow than men’s. (My job is as a buyer for footwear for a retailer so I’m way more knowledgeable about shoes than I want)

And then add in we also sell European size shoes here...and those sizes are totally different than US sizes! So confusing sometimes

Some advise... buy your doc martins from the England London website because those the Real leather ones. The real leather ones last YEArS 😊. The ones in America are made in China and rip after a few wears. 👍🏼

I found blue patent leather docs at a flea market here in NYC maybe 7 years ago for $5!!! I was so shook and I don’t think the vendors knew what they were or that they’re like originally $120+ 😭 I instantly bought them lol I get so many compliments when I wear them!

I just bought myself a pair of docs (my first!!).....didn’t know there’s a whole process to break them in and wore them while traveling. My heels are still recovering a week later and probably won’t be fully healed for another week. Any tips for breaking them in??
Gabi Mitchell Breaking them in is awful! But I would recommend to use thick socks and take care of the leather. There are lotions (Don't know if that's the right word, I'm not a native speaker) to keep the leather soft, that might help a little bit. And I think it's best to only walk little ways at first, so don't wear them too long at once. They'll be better soon :)

Also get some band aids and put them where you are most likely to get blisters even before you have any. It will save you trust me haha
I‘d wear two pairs of socks in the first weeks so the socks rather rub against eavh other instead on your heels.
Would really recommend using muscle tape on the back of the ankle to wear in doc martens, works so much better than any blister plasters etc that I've tried.

Payless Shoes carried a brand called American Eagle in their stores and for years I, as well as many others, assumed it was a collaboration with American Eagle. However, it's completely separate; no connection. Not sure how they get around trademarks/ branding but they did. It's hard if you thrift to know as American Eagle does carry some shoes but many are name brand or simple sandals.
Oh what?! I used to shop at Payless and bought those American Eagle flats thinking they were from the same company. Oh man I never realized they were different company😅

Hey Alexa, I know this is random but you should get a dust cover for your sewing machine! Dust can make your machine work very poorly! My mom and I cleaned my machine a few months ago and you should really clean it before and after every use, but I never do.

Hi, just a quick tip: I have the vegan docs and they hurt me a lot in the beginning too. My grandfather is a shoemaker and he gave me the following tip: Take some fat (coconut oil or butter or something), grease the hard part of the back of the shoe with it, put the shoe on the floor at that point and gently tap the place softly from the inside with a hammer. ( Damn, I have the feeling I'm explaining this very badly :D). With me (and other friends with Docs) it worked great!

I have the Jadon 8 eye shoes and I never had to break them in. Idk if this helps but I'm a 5.5/6 in US women sizes, and I got them in a 5M (so a 6.5 in women). I tried the 4 in men's and they were my perfect size but I bought them a size bigger so they fitted "looser" and I never had a problem with them. If I am cold I can also wear a pair of chunky fuzzy socks with them and they fit perfectly
That was me with converses I just find them so uncomfortable
I always have to break them in for about a month and then they are super comfortable afterwards
I have a pair of their canvas boots, and they feel so comfortable, like sneakers. I forget the style name, but the fabric is similar to their Mary janes and they are cute too

I have 250 pairs of shoes, not a fashion you tuber, can’t wear them at work and I don’t go out much, but I love shoes.
Can I ask what is a good amount of shoes for someone to have? I only wear sneakers because I don’t wear heels . I’m already tall and heels are uncomfy af on my feet. In terms of sandals I only have one and I have used them for 5 years and going on. With sneakers I maybe have 5 that I can wear casually and 6 that I wear for fancy ass occasions because they’re shiny af . I want more docs because I don’t have any boots . I have a 1460 pascal hearts and I love them but again they’re not plain and are hard to really carry off. I want the jadons as well as the white black bow platforms she has but I’m not sure if I should .

I was wish was a 9.5 and had the option up going up half a size when things are a bit small. Nike fits small and I'm a 10 so usually shops don't have past a ten and if they do the next size is 11 which is usually too big. I hate shopping for shoes hahaha
I love that we call plastic faux leather shoes “vegan” now & it raises their resale value 😄 I personally always prefer leather since if it’s quality leather it’s going to be comfortable & look great. Plastic just doesn’t do it for me

Ive got the Jason and imo they are way better looking and looks cooler than the originals. It makes you look alot taller like almost 2 inches and makes your leg look very long. In addition the Jadons has a zipper which makes it more convenient .

regarding their wax thing !! it worked rlly well for me softening the leather. like u could feel the difference and it helped the break in process a lot. i tried hair drying it but it didn’t work and made the shoe rlly hot which made me worried that it was gonna damage the leather but maybe i did it wrong or too excessively lol

I love my platform vans, they are my favorite because they are comfortable and give me some height. You could buy the elasticized shoelaces that don't need to be tied so you can slip them on.
converse has a really awesome new(ish) program where they make shoes out of recycled fabrics and denims. its really cool and I feel like you'd like it!!
You must live some place warm or Idk how you survive winter without at least one pair of Ugg boots I live in mine so my feet don't freeze since no other boots come close to them in warmth and comfort.

If you hate unlacing your shoes try stretch laces, journeys kids sell them and they have ones to fit adults. Turns all your shoes into slip ons. Amazon also has them as well
UK shoe size translation (for anyone else in the UK trying to figure it out what the equivalent sizes are)
US women’s 9 is a UK7 - EU41, US 9 1/2 is UK 7 1/2 - EU41.5, US 10 is UK 8 -EU42.
Also worth noting that men’s and women’s shoes are in the same size ranges in the UK so a men’s 7 is the same as a ladies 7 (usually). Men’s shoes are maybe a little wider in the the toe area than women’s but generally the length is the same.

You don’t have to buy slip ons! You can diy your lace up shoes into slip ons! Just get some elastic from the craft store or even the dollar store that’s a little thicker than your laces and replace the laces with the elastic, then tie off the elastic in a knot and tuck the knot under your shoes’ tongue. I did this to my winter boots (because I’m a lazy Canadian) and if the elastic gets too loose just pull and retie it! Love your videos Alexa!

What sites are you able to get Dr Marten discounts on, especially with the Jadons? Every time I finally find the style I want in the size I need, discounts don't usually apply to Drs, especially the Jadon style. Even the sites that offer the student discounts usually restrict the Drs from the discounts.
My first pair of doc martens where the Jadon platforms. I was extremely scared for my bank account because I am Australian so I would have to pay more and they ended up being $300 (they were the main thing I was saving for at the time). But now I am so happy that I went through with the purchase. They are so comfy now that I have broken them in. I do wish I wear them more, I don't really wear them because I am very insecure about my height but I do love them!
