I'm enjoying all of these guides that come straight from the developers. I don't have to search around the internet for guides. Their applications are clear and concise and leave enough for exploration. Im excited for the release
This is probably going to be the best fighting game out and games are going to build around these mechanics

@@Josh-Yu you can play with bots i guess and you will figure out how different timings work, i dont have a lot of hours but i remember that no matter how many tutorials you do theres some things you only understand when playing real matches

Jokes aside, I haven't played any guilty gear (only arcsys game played is dbfz) and now I'm starting to understand dust, faultless defense, and all this rc slang, pretty cool!

Looks like Dust got changed. Now it doesn't need to be a counter hit to launch. Simply holding the Dust button makes it become a launcher (slower start up similar to the original Dust). I like this change a lot. Roman cancel looks beautiful in its utility.
...Dust in Xrd doesn’t launch on counter hit. It does launch when you land a hit on a standing or crouched opponent after inputting a direction.
Now Roman cancels are kind of everything but the kitchen sink: a regular combo extender, a guetto Alpha Counter, a guetto FADC, a mixup/pressure tool, a 2-in-1 special cancel...
@@ingenuitypulse6254 That's not what I was referring to. I was talking about originally in Strive when I played the first beta. The only time you would get a launch is when your RISC guage was flashing or if you landed a counter hit. That was the only way to cause the launcher.

I was almost hoping they'd take this opportunity to unveil this game's Instant Kills.... Still really cool though! And now FOUR different kinds of Roman Cancel? Holy shit.

I figured they were just saving their unveiling for soon before release in all honesty. I could see them holding out on unveiling until after the beta, even. But, yeah, I do keep in mind the possibility that they might just not be there.
Instakills weren't revealed until 2 day before release for xrd iirc
@@alphapunks144 Really? Wow. I got into this series some time around REV2's release so, I wouldn't know? But wow, yeah. I'd figure it'd be one of the last things revealed, especially with games with such animation quality as these. If they are, indeed, revealed super late in, they'll most certainly be utterly mind-blowing.

They seem to be mostly the same as before (Xrd), just the visual cue is different
I want to like this game and get into it, but the barrier to entry is so fucking huge. A month with XRD Rev 2 and I couldn't even beat the tutorials. MK11 is friendly to new players, that is a game that a new player can learn and improve at over time, so of course the FGC hates it. Meanwhile anything they said in this video past throws made no sense and no new player would *ever* be able to actually do it in a match. The FGC just fundamentally doesn't understand why their games are impossible to get into.
@@17thknight Well, this installment of Guilty Gear is completely focused on new players and casuals, there has been so many simplifications and reduction of options to make it new player friendly that actual veterans have been alienated.

Good job on putting this out. I've noticed that Strive seems to be getting some "new blood" attention. If this is going to help new players, and hopefully make it easier for them to enter our soci.....errr....community, then here's a thumbs up.

Dead Angle Attack who? Here we use Yellow Roman Cancel
could you explain dead angle to me? I've been watching a lot of Xrd lately and keep hearing dead angle. I'm pretty sure I was told before somewhere but I forgot.
@@meister4597 Dead angle is basicly an invincible reversal attack that you can use while blocking
it uses 50% tention
@@meister4597 Dead Angle is a "get off me" move that comes out to knock the opponent away. What it looks like and the strike's general properties is unique to the character but it cost some meter. In Strive, Dead Angle has been replaced by this Yellow Guard Cancel type of thing. The knockback is significantly less than the 3/4 screen blowback from Xrd's Dead Angle Attacks though.

Eagle aka Basic Actions seems to be the best one so far.
Really nice tutorial for beginners, there are a ton of new players coming to GG Strive so let's make sure to spread this and help "educate" them.

These can be changed however

Hey so quick and possibly dumb question if I may. If I understood it correctly the yellow rc gets you out of your blockstun right? Then how is that different from instant blocking?
@@easygoingdude9990 The difference is that with IB you're blocking and staying close and YRC pushes them back so you don't have to block anymore.
Instant Block: when you want to punish predictable attacks with a fast, short range normal (preferably leading into a combo)
Yellow Roman Cancel: when you wanna go back to neutral
@@easygoingdude9990 Yeah, what Ikaru568 said. Instant Block lets you recover faster, but doesn't stop everything like a YRC does.

@@choppedsirloin9215 You'd use Fautless mainly for moves that would do a lot of chip damage like certain supers. One example is one character in Xrd had a super that was basically one giant orb that dealt a LOT of chip so you'd have to choose to block with either meter or chip damage if you ended up going defensive against it.

Block is suchh an innovative command. So fresh. I'm definitely gonna implement this into my gameplay.
There's probably gonna be intermediate/advanced actions. I hope so, because we did see a gold burst, and that wasn't covered in this video - there's a couple other mechanics I haven't seen that I'd hope return.
Can you time stamp the gold burst? I dont remember seeing it.

@@nrolling7192 oh I see. In Xrd there are 3 RC which are similar here in Strive depending on when you active the RC. The 4th RC addition here in Strive is the replacement for the dead angle mechanic or the "get-off me" action from the previous games.
This is the best RC tutorial I have ever seen

By far the most lacking character
You don’t need a lot of moves to be viable just look at Characters like Claudio he has a very small move list but is still viable for high level and tournament play. Giovanna, move list is lacking yes. But the quality of the moves she does have look good.

The game looks much more streamlined and accessible for newer players than before. I played xrd and didn’t know wtf I did half the time, this is going to be easy to start with and hard to master type of deal I feel like, which I love.

As someone who's looking forward to this game, but has never played a GG game (and the only anime fighter I've played is DBFZ), this Roman Cancel stuff looks nutty as hell

@@george6626 Not really. Nothing in gear is like sparking, the closest being burst which works in combos and can be used multiple times per game but gives no buffs.
@@kidbuumer4780 literally 2M and spark , would give you a combo that does a lot of damage . Yes its once per game , but it can function the same as a roman cancel and/ or burst . Its just rc and burst into one ability
@@george6626 Spark is a one time thing that gives your character a damage buff, meter gain buff, and allows you to jump cancel all normals that can be activated raw, after a move hits, or during blockstun. RC costs meter/tension and does not give you any benefits besides the immediate cancel of whatever your doing and can be used virtually at any point aside from when you’re in blockstun or are knocked down. RC can also be used in blockstun like sparking but doesn’t knock back the opponent on hit. So they’re still very different

The dash RC stuff looks really cool in the first beta the game felt a bit slow but now i feel like once you get in you'll really be able to speed up the pace i can't wait to try the game again

Yellow cancel on block as a universal defensive mechanic is pretty dope 👍
I'd like to compliment this video compared to the character ones because so far as I could tell they formatted all the info in a way that an actual beginner could process it with this video alone if they're willing to try. All the character guides by the end eventually starting using jargon that wasn't so self explanatory.
Blocking = normal pushback
JD or IB = no pushback, free punish (maybe)
FD = bigger pushback
IFD= "full screen"pushback
Never played guilty gear, but I've been listening to the soundtrack for some years
i play a lot fighting games im just so hyped for this beta man it cannot come soon enough
YRC is basically Dead Angle now. I kinda like that. Dead Angle always felt redundant compared to Burst and I like the idea of Strive where they simplify mechanics

I pre-ordered the game. I'm super excited.
So this is the smell of the game...this is a handy reference. Didn't know GG had sort-of-parries.
If you want parries try GG Accent Core, it had a mechanic called Slashback were you use meter to perfect parry and if you pull it off not only do you get frame advantage you get a lot of meter back. A lot of the things in this game aren't exactly new, including FRC which was also in Accent Core.
I almost thought they would bring up instant kills, and now, once again, I cannot wait to see how crazy they get.

Great video concept for beginners but I think you forgot mentioning the Gold Burst. The 6P anti-air properties could've been also good to add. (and maybe something about the general movement too)

@@TheDevlain nah grabs have whiff animations in Strive. No accidents, just failure. Though I do wish it was a double button input like SF, since it'll make accidental grabs less of a thing
Roman Cancel rework with the HUGE yellow colors should really help new players to the game feels good man

Really curious to see how fast you can cancel out of the Blue and Yellow RCs. And how long you need to wait after using a Dash RC before you can take advantage of the dashing momentum?
Looks like Yellow is just the new replacement for Dead Angle, so I'm guessing you can't combo from it.
I wish other characters besides Basic Actions could Roman Cancel. It would be pretty cool I think.
oh, so IB doesn´t change frame data, but since you are close to the opponent, you can punish with faster, shorter range buttons and throw, that´s a pretty great middle-ground they found

I just now realized that Dust doesn't knock the opponent back full screen anymore.
Hope you guys add the "INSTANT KILL" moves. Cause it's like having a MK game without Fatalities. And the way the announcer says "DESTROYED" will get me pumped foe more.

Wall break is pretty simple: You either don't break it for a mixup or you break it with Dust or something else for damage.
