Perhaps this is where Alfred Hitchcock came up with "The Birds" movie. Scary as can be. Also noticed in the film, that cars parked (in the middle of the road), as is currently done. In a way, it kind of makes sense. Good stuff Timothy, and appreciate your showing us a small town still trying to hold on.
I'm going to guess the bank with the broken glass door doesn't have any stray money laying around. This looks as if once upon a time it was a nice, cozy little town. I love the old brick buildings. It's a shame they fall into disrepair when unused. As with so many once thriving small towns, the young people move to other places looking for 'excitement', better jobs, because they don't want to learn the trades of their parents, or for whatever reason and what was once cozy and beautiful slips away into the annals of time. Then as people get older, they want to move back to that cozy little town, but it doesn't exist anymore because they were not there to preserve it. I noticed the median income of $18,202 yet didn't see a single older vehicle in the entire video 🤔.
Well said. The median income was definitely low, so I can only imagine that the cost of living is low as well. And that people living there are good at budgeting. I would even bet that there are people living in some of these small towns making less than those living in a city that have a better quality of life. Thanks for posting 👍
I agree. These town centers are being overlooked and under utilized. It seems like people don’t want to go outside anymore. It’s weird, even in my neighborhood you don’t see kids outside playing like you did when I was a young
Here is the black bird video that I talked about.

Thanks, Bobby. The Birds movie was released in 1963, so maybe the black birds saw it at a drive-in theater an got the idea from him 🤣
Although somewhat neglected this town has good potential. Thanks for the tour Timothy.
I agree, Terry. 👍

Poorest place in NC but it's calm and relaxing in the winter
Looks like a great place to live. Thanks for posting 👍
Closest city is Tarboro with amenities
Well the little town looked empty for the most part, except I thought I saw a jaywalker cross the street 👀
beautiful place, but whats fascinating to me (as a non-american) is how you didnt see one person walking there, kinda spooky
