Great tutorial... If I could add a little something. You could always look up the song or sample's key info online. And most samples have the key info in the download. I like to use the Melody Sauce 2 plugin to create the bass line afterwards, then add a new channel bass sound to it. Dilla's bass lines were very simple but melodic. Kev Brown and Pete Rock and even Diamond were extraordinary too.

Alot of people struggle with basslines I like To filter out the bass for the proper low end feel but i also like a normal bass line on the same track if u know what i mean .. i find the hated akai timberwolf to be the best for boombap basslines all its really good for ..

I use either Sakura which comes with FL Studio or Spectrasonics Trillian
