@@theycallmeheat hello. the following statements are not easy for me to write, because i fear they will be misunderstood. if a "producer" needs to be TAUGHT how to make boom-bap beats, they just don't have what it takes. it's engrained, it can't be learned. second, making beats while staring at a large computer screen means you're making beats with your eyes. the computer tells you where & how to place everything... no, no, no. ears, fingers, heart, brain, & soul should come before putting a puzzle together on a screen larger than the ones provided on 90's samplers. third, how many phony ass rookies are going to whip up decent beats because you divulged a generic recipe? if they can't do it on their own, through a normal learning process, like experimentation & trial by error, are they tru skool hedz down for the culture? or culture vultures seeking shortcuts? no personal offense intended, i'm just sick of all these tutorials telling kids with fancy gear that they can be the next preemo.

That second drum pattern helped out so much. Was always using full level with my hi hats but i realized using velocity makes it sound more human and has more swing
Yeah i think the same but soooo many people start with chords or melody even pro beatmakers and you still can adapt your drums to the melody instead of melody for drums its pretty the same thing

another cool hack for ableton users, use slice to new midi on a drum break and it will extract the drums to midi, when im lacking inspiration, i can get a cool new kick and snare pattern from a break..
What I really like is that u can use these drum patterns for trap beats and mix it up instead of 2 step hats, snare every 3rd for 12-16 bars straight. Makes a huge difference. Thanks for sharing your knowledge bro I appriciate it! So simple and mad fire 🔥

I've never seen someone use 16 levels in there FL workflow. I've always wanted to try that method. Could you do a video on how you set that up in the DAW or is it a function specific to the controller? -Thanks
16 levels is a feature on my midi controller. Hopefully one day they will add that feature in the future to fl studio. But most Akai controllers have that feature
I just thought of a way to make it work only using FL Studio plugins. It may be a bit tedious, but it will work nonetheless. If you're interested, let me know and I'll make a quick video for you.

If you highlight your notes hold shift and click the right arrow on your keyboard it will take your notes off beat a bit and make it sound real make sure you're snap is on none
Nah, it’s a setting or feature on my midi controller. It’s an Akai thing, it’s on all the MPC units as well. But your controller should he velocity sensitive, somewhat similar to 16 levels. Just have to hit your keys softer for the lower volumes. Hope this helps 💯💯

can go wrong with BOOM boom BAP ba BOOM boom bap shhh....ghost notes swing and drum drum selection are the most important thing and saturation.. but finding the right drum sounds is whats gonna make it sound authentic u can do.the same patterns with other drums but it would sound right unless u got the right snare kit and hat but snare is probably the most important

Highlight the note and hold shift then press any arrow key left or right. Be sure that snap is set to (none)

When you highlight the notes, you hold shift then go right to take them off the grid if snap is turned off

You have 16 levels in FL as hihat presets in the left menu under Score->Quantization. Just drag & drop on your hi hat and voila. :)
