    Readwise is part of my morning routine, great app. With iOS 16, the ability to save highlights disappeared, so all my books are on Kindle, very easy to update highlights from Kindle. RW is $95 per year or like $12 per month. Instapaper premium allows you to highlight, I skipped it. As always, good video, these are great apps!

    I use Readwise and did use instapaper until I came across Readwise's new offering Reader. So far i have found it to be extremely well developed and helpful.

      +1 for Readwise Reader, it’s a fantastic tool.

      I’m new to Reader and it’s in Marmite territory right now. Learning it through the video tutorials isn’t great as the presenter seems to be racing against the clock. Happily there are other creators I’ve found on TH-cam who are far better IMHO. Also, having forwarded a lot of newsletters to my Reader feed this morning, I can see just 4. Weird. I’ve flagged this with Readwise and look to receive support to help me understand what’s going on.

      Readwise sucks. I have spent countless hours collecting, reading, highlighting, and creating notes on the Readwise reader. It promises that you can print with Annotations. IT DOES NOT. There is now no easy way to get any of my work out of Readwise. And to make it even laughable, they have desktop and mobile apps but you can only print using the web reader. Ridiculous.

    Great video. I use remarkable. It also adds pdf to its application on the computer and I am satisfied so far with capturing articles from the web.

    I've been using Pocket for a while. It's great for capturing articles, but seems to be riddled with issues such as buggy tag filtering, and poor syncing between devices. I've been wanting to find an alternative but wasn't sure where to start: I'll certainly give Instapaper a go, thanks!! 😀

      If you're looking for an alternative, I would suggest looking at Readwise Reader too. Similar to Instapaper with a few more integrations.

    These secondary/linking tools are now more and more important, smoothing out the Workflow to get quotes, comments and ideas from one content format into 'your' notemaking stream... and then on to use of into actual output.

      That's pretty much how I use these services.

    I've switched from Readwise to a new read later app called Omnivore, which has an Obsidian plug-in to sync to my vault. There's also an Amazon plug-in too, for syncing my Kindle highlights.

      Ah, I don't use Obsidian.

    Hi Carl, have you tried Readwise Reader instead of Instapaper?

    • @Carl_Pullein
      @Carl_Pullein  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, I've used Instapaper for so long now I have a library of articles I know where to find. I don't have time to learn a new method.

      @@Carl_Pullein Readwise Reader has a Instapaper Integration.
      Plus it can summarise articles with GPT in the background.
      Plus it read an article and i can listen in my own speed.
      Plus it supports TH-cam videos with the transcript.
      That saves me a lot of time.

      @@christiankriedemann64 I did have a look at it, but it gave me way more information and features than I need. I have a process for reading my articles, and Instapaper does it marvellously. I just want to read the articles. I don't want summaries, someone to read to me or give me metadata. I like to sit down with my iPad mini on the sofa, relax and read. It's simple, relaxing and very enjoyable.

    When you have Readwise Instapaper is useless because there is Reader (from Readwise) which is much better.

    I’ve literally never understood why you need to collect everything you read etc. or articles. Just for specially-interested people, or so-called creators… who think they are productive or something like that. 😂 Just my opinion though.

      It’s not everything; just the important things. I personally don’t know anyone who advocates keeping everything. I used to not keep anything; the knowledge gets lost. Keeping some helps me remember.

      Have you looked at Matter vs Readwise?

    • @Carl_Pullein
      @Carl_Pullein  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Collecting articles to read in a single place saves time having to go looking for the same article later. I certainly don't keep "everything", just articles of interest.
