@@acote5020 I never asked permission to leave I just clocked out and left. It's just what the 2 managers told us to do but I don't think anyone listened to that instruction.

Yeah…that’s illegal. When I have to use the restroom at work I just walk off my station and go. Same with when I need a drink of water. I walk off, get some water and go back. Nobody cares. And if they did I would tell them that they have no right to stop me from doing either of those things when I need to because they really don’t. Those are protected activities and management can’t legally stop employees from doing those things. And they definitely can’t punish them for it. That’s a lawsuit waiting to happen.

I’ve worked in places that required we at least notify a coworker if we step away, mainly for safety/liability… If there’s a fire, or some other catastrophic event, or should an employee have an accident/medical emergency, someone should know where they are… My mom was in a diner once, and a Waitress was apparently unconscious in the stall, and no one even noticed she was off the floor… It was slow, and if my mom hadn’t gone in, imagine how the employee may have been in there…
